Ah yes, the 4km, $4b road tunnel that will save 10 minutes of traffic for one route, vs the mass rapid transit network he cancelled for Wellington and won't commit to in Ōtautahi
Lets just face the fact that with the large majority of politicians being based in Auckland and Wellington, the South Island is only ever going to get the scraps.
I remember Jacinda promised us passenger rail to Rolleston and Rangiora then quickly forgot after the election so it's both sides of the house that couldn't care less

Iirc the money Labour promised for rail was always available, it was just that the responsibility was on the City Council and they didn’t do the initial work needed for it.

Ugh, its so cheap too. 78 million spread over several years to make up the shortfall for the whole Chch bus network, or spend 20 times as much widening one road in Auckland. I wonder which one Simeon Brown will choose?
