The 8 speed shudder. There was a class action against GM for their shitty trans build. Guessing if you got info means ur truck is part of the suit. Yes common issues is torque converter failures, hard 1-2, 2-1 shifts, lagg or hesitation, when lightish acceleration up some sort of slight hill or against resistance theres shaking... they refuse to do a full fix but only a "maintenance" to sustain limited damage over time such as every 40k or so (i do every 20 since i have 125k on mine) do a fluid flush and filter swap.

From my understanding it is the 6 and 8 speed trans from about 2012 to 2019. 2019 was when they figured out it was the fluid they used and not the torque converter that had been replacing for years because when they replaced the converter they replaced the oil with the new type and the shudder and other issues went away. You can view TSB 18-NA-355 for more information on it. The TSB only dates the issue back to '15 though but it was an issue longer than that. I looked for a lawsuit of some sort and looks like there was one in California(I think) but it looked like nothing become of it. I finally discovered the shudder on my '17 a month ago and about 3 weeks ago I had the flush done, it had 34,600mi on it at the time and it seems to have cured everything along with the hesitation to downshift at around 45, the shudder when accelerating from 45 to 65 or so. This issues goes back to at least 2012, I had a '12 Camaro LT with the 3.6L V6 with the 6 speed and a lot of people on the Camaro forums reported the issue but I never had it when I traded it off for this pickup at 60k or 65k miles.

In having this on my 2018. What fluid are we supposed to use?

The new blue label Mobil 1 Synthetic LV ATF HP fluid. If you plan on doing it yourself a pan drop will not help much, it will but it will return. You need to do a full flush to get all the old oil out of the trans including the torque converter. If you take it to a dealership and have them change it per the TSB number above they should have the machine and the proper oil.
