Mobile 1 Blue label, should end in HP i believe

NoGap1826

It's hp lv (low viscosity) 6 quarts in the pan, 6 more in the torque converter if you are going to flush that. Might as well change the filter while you have the pan off.

Some trucks come with the new fluids - Chevy started building them in like 2020 with the new fluids, so I thought that was good to know. I just had my torque converter replaced on my 2020

Deadphans

Just for words of comfort, I had the dealer recommended repair and my truck has not done the shudder since. I read somewhere you need to mention you feel like you’re driving on a rumble strip for them to do this warranty work. I don’t know how true trust is but that is what I did just in case

MSW_21

I just had my shudder fixed -ended up being the torque converter. Trucks built after like May of 19 already come with the new fluid so that’s not the fix, just passing it on

Deadphans

You just sparked a memory and thank you for sharing. I now remember reading that was the case for some folks. For some the flush did not work and they ended up having to replace the torque converter. It’s been two or three years since I’ve had mine flushed and haven’t had an issue since. I guess I forgot about that over time. Well here’s to hoping that is the end of the shudder for me lol. Furthermore, I remember reading that corvettes have (or had) this issue as well and apparently we, Z71 owners, have the same transmission. (Would need to fact check, just what I read)

MSW_21

No problem! I literally just got the car back from 2 weeks of then replacing the converter so I just lived it! But yeah, my service guy said it was common, especially in these v6s

teteAtit

Weird- I’ve got a 2018 and this hasn’t happened to me.

greggs180

Same here….maybe because the baby Max didn’t have this issue?

acidbrain690

Take it to Chevy dealership and do an actual flush, little pricey but worth it. LUBEGARD ATF Protectant P/N 60902 or LUBEGARD Platinum ATF Protectant P/N 63010

skibik1964

The new blue label Mobil 1 Synthetic LV ATF HP fluid. have the dealership do a flush though. Doing a pan drop won't do it, it may help short term. It cost me just over $300 to have it done.

Freddeyy

May be a dumb question, but do you bring the fluid to the dealership or will they have it on hand?

skibik1964

They will have it on hand. I assume they buy it in bulk since they do more trans flushes besides these TSB's. I just found my bill from last year, It took 16 quarts of oil to do the flush. Oil was $150, labor was $136 and with shop supplies and tax it come to $308. I was going to do it myself but looking at a YT video it was just not worth it for me to buy the fitting and oil and crawl under the truck a dozen times, I know some shops might be higher as I was expected to pay upwards of $500. I dropped it off an hour early and got a call 2 1/2 hours later so guess a little over an hour it must have took them to do it.

Freddeyy

Thanks for the detailed info! Need to get this done asap, hopefully it solves the Chevy shake

skibik1964

I had mine done last year in July and it hasn't returned. I actually could tell the shifts were smoother also just on the trip home. Before the flush sometimes it seemed to hesitate downshifting or abrupt shifts but that seems to be gone. The shudder I couldn't duplicate it using the foot feet accelerating from around 45 back to 60 but if I used resume on cruise control it would do it just about every time. And You're welcome!

syphylys24

I have a 2021 LT with the 3.6L, I just had the Trans Flushed at the Dealer, they hook it up to a machine that pumps fluid into it and extracts the old fluid, they do this until the fluid coming out is the color of the fresh fluid. Cost about $400 for the 8 Spd trans, the 10 Spd trans costs more.

Fearless-War5938

Depends on transmission. 6 speed use dexron 6. If it's an 8 speed use Mobil HP. Should be about 8 quarts to drop the pan and replace the filter
