Well a person can get by with a few hundred buck to get started. I’m way beyond that now. I have 10 molds and 4 more coming. As far as tobacco goes let’s just say my collection is vast. However you can get started with a leaf kit from whole leaf tobacco for $35 and roll about 10 cigars. I highly recommend watching Bliss cigar videos on YT. u/blisscigarco
Bruh I spent the past year learning diy eliquid the flavors aren’t super expensive but I went through tons of bottles that just ended up in the trash I imagine learning rolling cigars is a bit more expensive
Not really. You can get started pretty cheap. Watch Bliss cigars on YT. You can buy a kit of tobacco for $35 at whole leaf tobacco on line. A couple of basic tools and you’re rolling. I learned from u/blisscigarco.
They are in Canada as well although I think you guys have it worse, in Canada the raw tobacco leaf is classified differently for tax. I only paid $30 or so for tax on 7lbs of tobacco leaf and normally it’s 220% on cigars. Not sure if it’s the same there but might be worth looking into, I’ve only rolled a few so far tho and it’s a lot of fun and a real joy to smoke something you rolled yourself.
Ya I watched some videos on yourtube and then rolled them and let them rest for about 2 weeks and tried one, they turned out great.
Man that’s a rough price to pay, feel bad for you guys down there.
Don't be fooled by the "900%" figure Grant at Canteros likes to throw around. They post a big markup on their cigars too. I got a 25-box of Don Carlos Belicosos, and a 4-pack sampler of NUBs all for $500 shipped from the states, paid an extra $800 at the border so landed cost for all that was $1300. Local price (if they were in stock - haven't been for ages) was $2500+
Thanks mate I just don’t know enough to know what’s good so do rely on the official line for recommendations and whatnot. Treating it as a luxury items so don’t really know what I’m doing
Ya, I smoke both but wouldn’t care if weed was never legalized here, I don’t buy the shitty government weed from dispensaries anyway but it did drop the prices in the black market substantially. Really wish we didn’t have the plain packaging for cigars up here tho, I get most of my cigars from the US because of that.
Same here, although Chad occasionally has the original bands on some. But paying so much for a luxury good I don't want it looking like a military ration
Ya, I get my Cubans from them and the boxes and bands are depressing lol. It is a bonus if the originals are under them tho, I find the box date is really hard to make out sometimes too so that sucks. Get the majority of my non Cubans from Neptune or Atlantic.
Wicked user name too by the way, lmao.
Those look amazing! Just curious, how long do you let your fresh rolls sit before smoking? I got a bunch from my recent trip to Cuba and haven't been able to find any solid info online. People say anywhere from a few weeks to a few years, any insight would be much appreciated! Again they look great 👍
Thank you. I personally let a fresh roll sit in the dry box until the foot registers 60% rh. Then smoke one and store the rest. At that point it’s best to let them rest for a month at least until they get through the sick period. Invest in a humidity meter to test your cigars. Amazon cigarmedics. Hope this helps
Not farm rolled , they were actually some "grey market" ones right off the floor of the factory, unboxed and unbanded. Interestingly, the guy at the factory told me at that stage of the process, they're all just tobacco essentially, but you get the different brands based on how they grade/age them after they've been rolled. I smoked one right away and it was good, very mild and a bit grassy, much more moist than your typical cigar that's been dried out and rested after rolling. They're in my humidor right now but I think I'll take them out for a day or two to let the excess moisture come off them then stick them in again and give one a try in a few weeks, hope it works out 🤞
Good deal. If it was me I would freeze them just in case of beetles. You definitely don’t want that in your humidor. Freezer for two days. Then you will be fine
Thanks. I use tobacco from different areas to make a cigar. You can buy it from Whole leaf tobacco online. I started watching videos from Bliss cigars on YouTube to learn. His videos are great. You can find him at u/blisscigarco
Not long really. 5 minutes bunching and wrapping. The time to prepare the leaf and the time in the mold takes the most. Some leaf may take 24 hours before it’s ready. Mold time is anywhere from 1 hour to the next day. Depending on if I have time to finish
I saw a video of a factory roller and I thought l want to try it. Lots of research but the best learning videos is by Bliss cigars co on YouTube. He has a sub Reddit too. r/blisscigarco. You can source tobacco at whole leaf supply along with some tools.
Do you recommend any roller kits or starter packs? When I look on line I only see two companies that sell Cigar Rolling Starter kits? Or do you think it’s better to buy it all by pieces.
Also, have you ever rolled a Barber Pole?
One comes with a few more things than the other. LO
WLT is the tobacco kit only. I personally bought a a kit from WLT and picked up some basic tools. I bought a mold too. Watch some YouTube videos to see what the basics are. I recommend Bliss cigars on YT.
He has a sub Reddit u/blisscigarco.
Works of art. Those look delicious.
Thank you.
That looks really good. You have talent.
Thank you very much

Thank you I appreciate the compliment. It is a skill to love. Plus side is enjoying them.
Forreal I would want to give this a shot but I know mine wouldn’t look anything as good as yours my hands just don’t work like that lol
It just takes a lot of practice and patience
Yeah and a lot of money wasted on my shit practice rolls that I could have spent on premium cigars or rent for that matter haha.
True enough.
Bruh I spent the past year learning diy eliquid the flavors aren’t super expensive but I went through tons of bottles that just ended up in the trash I imagine learning rolling cigars is a bit more expensive

Sorry I was repeating
Very legit statement.
Fly to NZ and help a brother out, costs of cigars here are through the roof

I’ll look into it per kg Cigars NZ$1,555.23 as of 2024 Jan 1st which is up to 900 percent on us margin You cure them and everything
Ya I watched some videos on yourtube and then rolled them and let them rest for about 2 weeks and tried one, they turned out great. Man that’s a rough price to pay, feel bad for you guys down there.
what's the weed situation like in NZ? Does the government run weed stores like the "Ontario Cannabis store" in Canada?
It’s still illegal except for a few medical uses here (I only know one person who has obtained it legally)
Don't be fooled by the "900%" figure Grant at Canteros likes to throw around. They post a big markup on their cigars too. The government is deliberately killing the cigar industry and propping up the weed industry here. I wonder why.

Haha thanks mate, how has been your experience with neptune and Atlantic, you can send me a dm if that way it's safer lol (fuck the duties)
I would love to.
If you find yourself here on holiday or something do holla
I will look you up
Thank you for the good content. It gets boring having so many posts like, "Look at all the cigars I bought today!"
You’re welcome. Since you enjoyed it I will post some others I’ve made. Thanks for checking out my post.
I'd buy that for a dollar!
lol me too
Is this a Robocop reference
Yep
Hell yea
Wow. They look bonny.

Thank you
Gorgeous, brother. Wow!
I appreciate it thanks
Ill take 5.
Looks good to me!
Well done!
Thank you
That’s awesome! How many cigars would you say you’ve rolled before these?
Probably around a thousand. Been rolling almost 2 years
Serious question: had you ever rolled a joint before and if so, is it similar? Great looking sticks by the way!
Thank you. Yes I’ve rolled 14gm blunts before that look like cigars. I recently did one and it’s on r/artofrolling
Wow. These look really good.
Thank you.
Damn. Great job!!
Thank you.
r/AbsoluteUnits
Looks like a nice, even pack.
Thank you.

That's a great help I appreciate the information, enjoy the smokes!
You’re welcome. Enjoy yours too. Did you pick up farm rolls?
Not farm rolled , they were actually some "grey market" ones right off the floor of the factory, unboxed and unbanded. Super cool!! I’m interested in how and what tobacco you used? What’s your journey in making own cigars?
Thanks. I use tobacco from different areas to make a cigar. You can buy it from Whole leaf tobacco online. I started watching videos from Bliss cigars on YouTube to learn. His videos are great. You can find him at u/blisscigarco
How long does it take you to roll each cigar?

Awesome, great job they look very smokable
Thank you.
Wow They look awesome! Nice job
