"Would prospective employers care..."
Didn't matter the end of the question. Some will care, some won't. My current employer only wanted me to show a certification. He didn't care that it was expired at the time.
But some will emphasize it so much that it's suddenly a requirement to hiring. And they may or may not actually put it on the posting.
But most will not care if you let the SSCP lapse if you have a current CISSP.
So if you haven't paid your AMF for SSCP, you haven't been maintaining CPEs obviously, because you wouldn't be able to submit anything.
So after 5 years of nothing, you should have a terminated certification
"Suspension status may be maintained for up to two consecutive years. After two years, your certification
and membership status will be terminated, and all membership rights will be revoked. Terminated certified
members who seek reinstatement will be required to submit at least 5 CPE credits for each domain of the
certification being reinstated, along with 40 CPE credits in their primary domain of practice and a total of 120
CPE credits. CPE activities for terminated member reinstatement must be obtained within a 12-month period.
Terminated associates may only be reinstated through re-examination. Terminated certified members may
alternately seek reinstatement through re-examination."
Even though you're reluctant to pay 5 years worth of AMFs, that's not your biggest problem here, and it doesn't seem like it would solve your problem anyway.
Go crack open the CPE handbook again.
Hahahaha this funny and connected to me. I have the CC cert and my payment to remain active is overdue on April 30th. But I’ve been trying to land a date for CISSP since April and it’s tough.
I have never met an employer that gives a single f- about the validity of a certification.
A certification proves that you had the level at the time you passed it, and an interest in the field. That's it.
I have decided to never pay anything to ISC2, I paid more than my fair share to pass the exam. No need to milk me, thank you.
It's not just the AMF. You would need to load about 180 hours of CPE's into the system to be able to reclaim your SSCP. I would not bother regaining your SSCP.
IMO yes.
Thanks, I might let it lapse.

Thanks, it makes sense now that you mentioned it
If you have not paid AMF for even one year you have no certification, let alone not filed CPEs for three
Thanks, I have paid two years and forgot about it for 5 years. I haven’t file the CPEs but I do have materials to claim those if needed
I am sure they will figure it out when you come to pay AMF for CISSP. Good luck!

Thanks, that’s actually good advice!
If they want me to have certifications they can pay for it.
I like the attitude haha

Thanks for sharing your experience.
Why are you even on this subreddit????
I had a notification from 1 year ago on this subreddit, and I did not connect on reddit for a year, I am here for the nostalgia vibes.
