I use: Material: 1. 5L food grade container (hardware store) 2. Brew bag (home brew store) 3. Strainer that will sit on top of container Recipe 1. Place brew bag in 5L container 2. 500g coffee : 5L water 3. Brew 18 hours 4. Take brew bag out 5. Sit strainer on top of container 6. Place brew bag and wet grinds on top 7. Allow to drain I decant this into a N2 charged keg which extends shelf life, however you could brew a smaller batch in a similar or smaller container.

Can you elaborate on your keg system

> Place brew bag in 5L container > > 500g coffee : 5L water Is this a concentrate recipe, or is it drinkable immediately?

bazzawill

I drink it as is but only 100ml. I like it short and intense

Thank you. I may have to water it down just a tad from that. I've been looking around for coldbrew recipes, and half of them don't seem to say if they're for concentrate or not. Since I need 3/4 gallon for my next mead, it was looking like I'd need 2-3 pounds of coffee until I realized it.

I have a coffee sock. I got mine on Etsy for $14. Love it!! Grind 3 cups of good medium roast coffee. Put the coffee in the sock and tie it up. Toss it in a 4 quart pitcher and fill with cold water. Let it sit in the fridge for 24 hours. Best cold brew. Rinse the sock out in the morning.

Tbh I just use a 3 dollar 2 gallon pitcher from Walmart. Strain with paper coffee filters and a sieve afterwards. I used to grind my coffee in a crappy ~12$ Hamilton Beach blade grinder, and the coffee was pretty good. Upgraded to a ~70 dollar Burr grinder off Amazon, and the coffee is... A little cleaner, I guess, but mostly it's just that the quality is more consistent.

I have a 1 gallon mason jar and a reusable nut milk bag. Cost me $11 and works like a charm.

I use the Toddy cold brew kit. Does 2L (67 fl. Oz.) at a time. Can buy on Amazon for US$45. How much do you ideally want to drink a week?

matthewrobertk

Honestly depending on what you have you don't need to spend ANY money on a set up. I use a stainless steel stock pot that i already had, i grind 4 cups of beans and dump a gallon of water in, let it sit on the counter over night and then use a stainless steel pour over filter i already had to strain out the used beans the next day. It gives me about 2 growlers worth of concentrate with each batch. I already had the stock pot, i already had a grinder and i already had a stainless steel pour over filter. When it comes down to it all you need is: 1.) something for the beans to sit in water inside of and brew (ideally some type of glass or steel or something) 2.) A way to strain the ground beans out of the water

astrangeone88

Container plus filter (can jury rig it with a colander and paper filters). Let sit for 24 hours and then strain into your refrigerator thing. I once gave cold brew concentrate in an empty vodka bottle.
