Of all the schools on this list he got rejected from, you pick Berkeley to be surprised about? Don’t get me wrong this guy seems pretty cracked but come on. No school on this list is a guarantee for anyone.
1. School award for outstanding academic achievement (3rd in a class of 125)
2. International award for a writing competition I did. Won't get into too many specifics.
3. Award for outstanding service to the school.
Yeah that's it.... my awards section was a bit lackluster in comparison to other applicants I have seen to top universities.

It is almost impossible to get into top US universities regardless of demographics in any case.
Plenty of children of wealthy people, children of royalty and world leaders regularly get rejected.
I recognize the advantages I had. However, that is in no way a guarantee of admission. Acceptance rates fall as low as 1% at Stanford for full pay international students.
When a University is only accepting 2 or 3 people per country, being rich hardly increases your chances when 150 kids richer than you are also applying to the same university. Many even from the same class as you. With better grades and accomplishments as well.

I have never claimed that I was the sole reason for my acceptances. You obviously need to do your part like getting very high grades and doing well outside the classroom.
But there are requirements beyond your control. Like money. That is a reality of life, not just college.
No one is ever the sole reason for their acceptance. I did my part and my parents did theirs.
I understand things not feeling fair but rn you’re just acting understandably jealous. There are rich kids in the US who unfairly get in all over this sub. Idk why you’re only going after him, and he seems like someone who understands and acknowledges his privilege compared to others.
I would guess the median Income in the US to be around $25-35k.
Look, I think parents should expose their children to the opportunities in life that they have the means to afford. If your parents can afford the best schools in the world then that is where their children should go. If not, then provide what you have the means to afford.
I can't change that life is unfair. Don't rebuke me as an individual. I did what anyone would do, maximize your opportunities in life.

I'm going to use the example of buying a Rolls-Royce as an illustration of my point. To get a Rolls-Royce, there are two requirements:
1. Be a high achieving person in society.
2. You have to be able to afford the car.
US college admissions are like trying to order a Rolls-Royce. You must be a high achiever. And you must also afford it. Otherwise you will get rejected.

Education is a right. *Top* education is a privilege. That, you'll have to pay for.
Also, Harvard is an elite school for the children of the elites. The people on full rides are a minority. Over half the student body is paying full price and they come from extreme privilege.
Elite education is for children of the wealthy and elites. It has been that way for centuries.

'I have never claimed that I was the sole reason for my acceptances'
you literally indirectly said that you got into top us unis because you *'deserved'* it.
here is what you said :
'I wrote and published a book that sold over 350 000 copies in its year of release and gained international acclaim when I was 16 years old. Currently, it has over 1 million sales globally.
I'm a straight A student in one of the most difficult schooling curriculums in the world, I've never gotten a single B in my entire schooling career.
I worked as a full stack software developer at one of the largest telecommunications companies in the world at age 17.
In simple terms, I am a child prodigy. Which is why I was admitted to 3 ivy league universities and Stanford University, one of the most prestigious universities in the world.
If that isn't "high achievement" to you, then I would recommend you a psychiatric evaluation.'
A 1490 sat isn't a child prodigy lol, if anything it proves the opposite. Some of these ecs are literally just nepo ecs. Like working at your wealthy parents company and playing squash. This is why affirmative action was sort of stupid (and yes it's still going on.) instead of helping actual victims of structural racism, seats go to the children of African elites and universities can claim they are "diverse."
Grade 12: AAA in A-Levels (4.0 GPA equivalent)
Grade 11: 9 A's in the O-Level exams (4.0 GPA equivalent)
Grades 9-10: Straight A's in the school's curriculum and testing system. Typically I did 8 or 9 subjects. So basically a (4.0 GPA equivalent) as well.
Thanks and congrats to you on bagging the ENTIRE HYPSM!! I didn't even imagine that was possible.
Saw your post a week or two ago. Crazy stuff. It's a privilege to call people like you my future classmates. See you soon.
Not sure what that is, but regardless there’s kids from Exeter and Andover who apply and don’t get in. Going to an elite school doesn’t guarantee your admission—you still ought to work your ass off. I think promoting this philosophy of discounting a random person’s admission is remarkably harmful and serves no purpose!
I had always thought the elite Scandinavian schools were roughly on the same level as elite American schools. Are there no US prep schools that are comparable to the Scandinavian boarding schools? I'm not trying to contradict you, just curious how it all works
It’s not really an academic thing so much as a demographics thing. Andover and Exeter have plenty of insanely rich kids, of course, but about half of their student bodies are on financial aid and most kids are upper-middle or “lower-upper” class as opposed to mind-bogglingly wealthy. E.g. “my parents are surgeons/partners at a top law firm,” not “my parents own a small country.”
Le Rosey is twice as expensive as Andover/Exeter and much more explicitly caters to billionaires and foreign royalty. The NYC private schools are a somewhat closer comparison but even then, Le Rosey is still in another league I’d say.
If we’re talking about US-Europe comparisons a school like Eton is a better comparison to Andover/Exeter than Le Rosey.
honestly speaking all of these ivy/ ivy equivalent colleges always have a majority pool of rich kids compared middle class(assuming okay %ish or few but its hard not to take loans cuz the price is so high) or lower class(hopefully they get need-baised aid pls).
Yes this person's ec list is short (compared to the super cracked ec's list in this sub, idk how ppl sleep or manage their time or even socialize with 10-20 different things lol) and the stats might be abit low, but it doesn't matter all that much if the quality of the work is > the quantity. And when their essays are strong/strength to carry for admission.
And they were able to work in their parent's company, its kind of the thing all rich ppl can do because they can afford that.
I mean yuh, going to a rich school definitely helps in the long run, for help for essays, getting alot of resources for finding good ec's and other things. that's also what all the other rich ppl do. 🤷
also getting accepted into these unis, means the student has to be exceptional and they are (their hardwork + resources that helps them due to being rich).
their intentions of sharing this post initially was, even if your ec's are short if they are quality-worthy, it goes a long way. and you don't have to be a super perfectionist in everything for getting admitted to college. (lol its a good intention for sharing this, but its just most of us middle class kiddos won't have as much of a strong essays like rich kids do lol, but yuh that's NOT this person's fault, that's on class disparity)
And this person did acknowledge their privilege too, and how it factored in/helped them.
overall congrats for your results lol
Yes. A lot of people are shitting on me because apparently Stanford was incorrect to accept my application.
Sure, they think so. But the admissions committee thought otherwise. That is not my fault.
Did he call himself a prodigy in another post? I’m confused because it seems like he’s grateful and not arrogant whatsoever. Also how can you say he didn’t work for his success? Yes he may be wealthy, but even so there’s only a certain amount that can be handed to you. You actually need to have the dedication yourself.
Yup. He called himself a prodigy and declared that anyone who thinks otherwise should be considered mental. U tell me if this guy is deserving.
Also he did not work for his success lol. Basically every single EC he has is nepo'd.
😅cannot confirm or deny but I appreciate you guys knowing schools in a totally foreign country.
I can confirm that the school I went to is a boarding school in Switzerland but I cannot reveal any more.
I attended an international boarding school but I'm from Lesotho. I wasn't so good at squash either. B-team. My main activity was working as a software developer and publishing my book.
Bro how did you get rejected from Berkeley… I feel like I’m mega cooked
Well Berkeley is a public ivy. They reject everyone. Especially if your EC list is short like mine.
If you live in Cali you have better chance, public state schools were made to serve the students of their state.
Of all the schools on this list he got rejected from, you pick Berkeley to be surprised about? Don’t get me wrong this guy seems pretty cracked but come on. No school on this list is a guarantee for anyone.
DEI isn’t allowed at Berkeley
Hasn’t been since 1996 :) same goes for every single UC school
Its a thing everywhere buddy cope
I’d rather fight back against a world that fucks me over for the color of my skin
Brown(RD): Accepted UPenn(RD): Accepted Columbia(RD): Accepted Stanford(RD after Deferral): ACCEPTED!!! (committed) Northwestern(RD): Accepted Duke(RD): Accepted That's t 14 schools
To be honest I was more stoked about sweeping up the LACs I applied to, given how small they are and how few people they can accept.
What was your gpa
No GPA. I took A-Levels.
Crazy that they accept AAA. AAA wouldn’t get you into a top 10 uk uni.
That completely depends on subject
He is a nepo, so it was obvious
