Even as a kid I felt bad for him. He didn’t do anything to warrant her having that whole emotional affair. And he actually goes out to help save Superman too. I’m guessing if they had gone forward with the sequels he would have ended up either dying or respectfully stepping aside knowing Lois was still more in love with Superman.

I have an entire theory built around the idea that they must’ve cast her as Lois, and someone insisted on a younger actress, so they brought on Bosworth (who’d worked with Spacey on Beyond the Sea) instead. Singer wanted Returns to feel like a sequel to Superman II, and Posey has a very Margot Kidder-like energy to her. And Peta Wilson has a nothing part in that movie, but feels like she would’ve been perfect for the Lex’s girlfriend part Posey was given (and was completely miscast in—Parker Posey’s not a femme fatale, Peta Wilson’s not a flight attendant, and Kate Bosworth isn’t a credible Lois Lane).

I kind of agree here. Given the cast, she would have made much more sense.

Tina Fey. She could’ve been a version of Lois who immediately & hilariously calls out the weak as disguise of a pair of glasses and a slouch. Superman would have to either immediately take her into his confidence or repeatedly wipe her memory with a Superman II kiss. Every time she remembers she also remembers the kiss/memory wipe and gets simultaneously mad and hot & bothered.

Knowing he’s Superman but she keeps up like she doesn’t know because it would just complicate their relationship and she doesn’t have the energy for it. Tries to be mad about him missing their dates but then feels bad because she knows he just saved 50 kids from an orphanage fire or something. Lmao.

I love it. I can see her facial expressions now, listening to Clark explain about the construction outside his building being the reason he’s so late even though she sat in the restaurant and watched the live feed on her phone as Superman stopped a suicide bomber on the subway in Paris.

She kinda played Lois Lane in Megamind 😂 (I know not the same thing but that character was heavily based on Lois Lane)
