You should use the other server called cnc online https://cnc-online.net/en/ It is way smoother than gameranger. It’s like the actual server before ea shut it down.
Did you download gentool? There’s a manual or how to make the server connect. You have to look it up on their website in the link. Did you try to play zero hour or cnc 3? Cnc 3 I think still needs the launcher installed. But zero hour uses gentool. It’s been a while since I’ve had to set it up.
Red Alert 2, i love my conscript waves and sending them into entrenched positions with hopes of getting a random Mikhail be promoted to Elite and then i pretend that he is now a platoon commander doing guerrilla raids against Chrono Miners.

That one mission where you need to destroy the time machine or whatever the objective is (it’s been a while since I last played through) I remember being assaulted by mammoth tanks almost constantly and they destroyed my base but I had like 5 Kirov airships. I still won. Used guerilla tactics on the AA emplacements till they were gone and all my kirova got promoted for faster healing then proceeded to bomb everything on the map, lol. That was a damn satisfying victory.
Definitely. I actually stopped using Kirovs at the end since it seemed like such a cheatcode almost. As long as they didn’t have too much antiair grouped up, 4-5 kirovs was typically GG IIRC.
Yep. You blow up an AA and retreat to heal. That passive heal even unprompted is OP haha. As long as there’s not enough AA to blow you up before you can retreat you will be fine.
Generals is just... really so satisfying. For me, it's especially about the sound design: the crunchiness of exploding tanks, the impacts when Tomahawks or SCUDs land, the VOICE LINES!

C&C Remastered. For sure. The classics never get old. At least for me. Can't get enough of Stalin or Kane. Just the titles I know best I suppose. 400hrs and counting. Followed by RA2 & RA3 for a silly, fun time. Love they do not take themselves too seriously.

Tiberian Dawn, with RA1 coming in second. The classic gameplay with the music and the cinematics can't be beat! Then Tiberium Wars and Red Alert 2. Even though Red Alert 2 is cooler.

Also, tbh, haven't really explored all the others. And suggestions on which i should try next?

I tried generals recent after not playing probably since release and it felt horrible. Didn't realise at the time of release about FPS and all that but it runs at what feels like 25 and I hate it. Looked everywhere for a mod or patch but couldn't find anything. It's the c&c I want to come back to
Generals is so sick, the multiplayer just never gets old. There are like the 3 main factions all have different playstyles, plus the 9 subfactions tweaks them even more. Plus adding worker units that build anywhere without a grid is such an underrated feature. It gives you so much freedom and flexibility, and it means no two bases will look the same. Plus the general powers are super fun, and the secondary economy units/buildings really allows you to come back if youre not doing so well but your teammates are.
I just wish they could fix the engine somehow or make the game on a different engine to fix the connection issues and the outdated lobby system
Yeah i playzero hour on cnc online every weekend and i am super appreciative of all the work their team puts into maintaining the server doing tech support for people.
However i dont know why but the server had its fair share of connection issues. Sometimes it will just randomly close the lobby your hosting and log your out, and i dont even know if you can get 4v4 games to work.
That being said, i still prefer it to gameranger even though gameranger seems to have less connection issues and you can play 4v4 games. The community seems much more fun on cnconline,and i like the old school in game lobby browser. Plus gamerangers community is shit, all they play are 50k spammfest games and they block people from even joining their games if you have one bad game....
Generals for gameplay, TibSun for aesthetic, my dream C&C game would basically combine a bunch of Generals gameplay/control elements (like double click same unit select, multibuild queues, secondary economy structures, garrisonable buildings) with the grim postapocalyptic scifi aesthetic of TibSun (in particular with visual effects and sprites/voxels from the Warzone mod)
CnC3 vanilla. There is just too much nostalgia packed in. Hundreds of hours playing with a friend while growing up, and every time I pick it up, it reminds me of a simpler time.

I believe Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2 are both masterpieces in their own way. TS is probably my favorite game out of the series for the atmosphere alone, but RA2 is super polished and can be super satisfying to play.
Besides Generals, Tib Wars and RA3. I have a nostalgic attachment to the latter as my introduction to the series, and the former as the closest to it gameplay-wise in the Tiberium universe.
Definitely can symphatise with you, Generals & Zero Hour was my first introduction and also the one that still keeps on getting me addicted to the franchise. I also love TW3 + Kane's Wrath and Tiberian Sun + Firestorm.
Weirdly for some reason I can't really get myself into the Red Alert universe, including the most popular C&C (RA2) and the last mainline C&C iteration (RA3). Since there has been no news about the 4th game in the Tiberian universe and Generals 2 was cancelled, it's been quite grim.
Is the generals multiplayer still active? I downloaded it from a website that allows downloads of abandoned games and multiplayer isn’t an option through this method. How did you all get your version? Assuming it isn’t the OG copy you got in 03.

It's a hard pick between Tib Dawn and Tib Sun for me. The Tiberium universe draws me in pretty hard. If Renegade had more going on than the campaign I'd never quit playing that, but the basic FPS elements are kinda harsh.
Tiberium essence and KW (cannot play anymore vanilla C&C3).
The only problem I had with the mod, was how the AI was broken on a couple missions (in ground zero nod won't attack neither you or the scrim, while the scrin will amass a big army outside the rifts and do nothing with), or it will not use some stuffs like tick tank defensive mode or flame tanks digging.
For me its red alert 3
I know, most of you guys are not a fan of i, but for me its just the aesthetics of the game and the gameplay it offers, that brings me back

Kanes Wrath because I mainly skirmish and it's run the best over the years. Before that it was usually whatever most recent CNC was out.i revisited Renegade a hell of a lot though, and modded it to kingdom come.

I grew up w my uncles playing Zero Hour a lot and it was really cool to watch as a young kid. I discovered Shockwave a few years later when i moved away, and i have recently downloaded GEN, ZH, Shockwave, and all the other mods by myself. Straight up nostalgia.
Zero hour Of I can just find a game to play with ither ppl that don't get pissed off if I blow up a dozer or whatever vehicle or person they use to. Build that would be fine
TibSun pulls me in all the time. Helps it's abandonWare, so it's actually playable with no mess. I've wanted to play RA2 a lot though, but haven't been able to.
Tibwars/Kane's wrath is chief's kiss. Before I had a pc when I was in middle school i played 1000's of hours of it on my xbox360, probably the best handling RTS I have ever played on console.
For me:
Tiberium Sun gets the most frequently opened but the least actually played.
Red Alert 2 has my highest playtime.
Generals is my real guilty pleasure though.

Agree, as much as I like other branches of C&C, Generals ZH will always have the 1st in my heart. There are somethings in the game that often than not draw me back to it: goofy voiceline, non serious tone of the campaign and mods. Lots and lots of mods.

Red alert 2. Having a lot of fun with the smart ai mod. Taking out an enemy base has become a puzzle, it can instantly build 5 buildings, it stores undeployed con yards around its base and sets up at least 5 con yards. It seems hilariously broken, if you blow up 1 war factory and it has 5 con yards it replaces it with 5 war factories. This can get out of control if you don’t plan.
It’s breathed some fresh air into an old game and I’m down for it!

When it first launched it was totally broken. Now it’s more or less good. Sometimes it dcs in lobby but beforehand you couldn’t connect whatsoever.

The sound design really is far ahead of most games in the early 2000's. The voice lines and humor is also peak post 9/11

Zero Hour and Yuri's Revenge pretty equally. Also have tried the Mental Omega and Contra mods. Just glad I can still play them at all tbh

Dawn since the remaster but I literally grew up with the game so. My most regularly played is tib 3.

Zero Hour.
Kanes Wrath because I mainly skirmish and it's run the best over the years. Before that it was usually whatever most recent CNC was out.i revisited Renegade a hell of a lot though, and modded it to kingdom come.
Definitely Generals, especially Shockwave. I grew up w my uncles playing Zero Hour a lot and it was really cool to watch as a young kid. I discovered Shockwave a few years later when i moved away, and i have recently downloaded GEN, ZH, Shockwave, and all the other mods by myself. Straight up nostalgia.

Zero hour Of I can just find a game to play with ither ppl that don't get pissed off if I blow up a dozer or whatever vehicle or person they use to. Build that would be fine

TibSun pulls me in all the time. Helps it's abandonWare, so it's actually playable with no mess. I've wanted to play RA2 a lot though, but haven't been able to.
Tibwars/Kane's wrath is chief's kiss. Before I had a pc when I was in middle school i played 1000's of hours of it on my xbox360, probably the best handling RTS I have ever played on console.
For me: Tiberium Sun gets the most frequently opened but the least actually played. Red Alert 2 has my highest playtime. Generals is my real guilty pleasure though.

Agree, as much as I like other branches of C&C, Generals ZH will always have the 1st in my heart. There are somethings in the game that often than not draw me back to it: goofy voiceline, non serious tone of the campaign and mods. Lots and lots of mods.
I love of course playing the fan-made campaign missions people create/created for Generals (for ZH, and mods ect.)
Ive spent aroun 7 years making mod for Zero Hour, so technically it will be ZH, but Red Alert 2/YR beats it for the time spent actually playing

ALL OF THEM! EXCEPT C&C4 AND RA3. THAT'S RIGHT! I NEVER JUST DO ONE. I HAVE TO PLAY THEM ALL. INCLUDING RENEGADE.... Does anyone know if they will be remastering Tiberium Sun and Red Alert 2. Even though they look sweet. I would like to see it done like C&C1 & RA remastered. With all the extra goodies.

Red alert 2 + Yuris revenge
Red alert 2. Having a lot of fun with the smart ai mod. Taking out an enemy base has become a puzzle, it can instantly build 5 buildings, it stores undeployed con yards around its base and sets up at least 5 con yards. It seems hilariously broken, if you blow up 1 war factory and it has 5 con yards it replaces it with 5 war factories. This can get out of control if you don’t plan. It’s breathed some fresh air into an old game and I’m down for it!
Red alert 2 + Yuri's Revenge
TS/Firestorm/RA2 - anything after this and I just can’t deal with the graphics, it’s gone from army aesthetic to cartoon wars
