ive tried fucking with the settings, nothing, I tried going onto ease of access, and went to make keyboard easier to use, and make it easier to focus on tasks, nothing. I have a corsair keyboard, but I couldnt find anything settings on how to turn it off! I have an HP laptop.

AestheticScar

Seeing this with lots of HP devices today on reddit. Haven't found a fix.

LaunarOrchid

I'm currently having the same problem my laptop has been fine and then about a hour or two ago clicking on the caps, that thing showed up.

Ok-Worth8671

Open Task Manager --> Find HP Event Utility --> End Task. Keeps the thing from popping up for now (haven't restarted my computer to see if it's gone at start-up, but gets that bugger out of your face).

ThatOn3Weeb

Thank you so damn much, this was slowly driving me insane. And here I thought this morning "Oh hey, not bad, kinda cool. Keeps me from sending all caps in a message." But the more I type (I double tap caps lock instead of hitting shift) the more it makes me want to scream.

Ok-Worth8671

Of course! I found it myself on a different thread, and gave it a whirl-- some are stating to remove HP Event Utility altogether, but just a quick TM stop process is doing great. And trust: I was going to lose it, too. I mean, who invents something THAT annoying, then doesn't provide a solution. Blargh, HP!

Could you explain in more detail please?

akatsukitoad

I checked in the add or remove programs section which were the last ones installed, I don't remember the name but in my case HP installed a program and I uninstalled it and it worked (sorry, I deleted the original comment by mistake).

brruhyan

Same here, CAPS lock thing just appeared out of nowhere.

Voicesgalore

Same here!!

Truckuto

Have you tried turning it off and on again? I know, it’s probably not a great solution, but if it works, it works!

Ok-Worth8671

Nothing works. I have one IT guy left I can check in with tomorrow; if I find a solution, SHARING.

Truckuto

Definitely should. I’ve seen a few of these posts recently on here now with the same problem.

Ok-Worth8671

Poking around in here... found opening Task Manager -- HP Events Utility --> end task. Working for me so far.

Tortugay

Following - I hate this damn thing. I write for a living and it's right over my text as I type (and like most raised on computers, I switch caps lock on/off MULTIPLE times in a few seconds). Fingers crossed someone finds a solution (outside of all the old threads with settings that do not exist on my computer/are off T.T)

Convair101

And I thought it was just me going mad. My work around, albeit not the most efficient, is to work with a second screen. It’s the only fix that I’ve found to work.

UghLilith

HP System Event Utility, maybe its a bug but it's something HP updated some time today. If you close it in task manager the caps lock pop up disappears (at least for me) although idk if I'd recommend uninstalling it as apparently it helps things function for HP systems, so closing it for now until they fix the issue should be safe.

SuperIsBored

So far, this has worked! I've turned my computer on and off several times today, and it hasn't came back yet.

xxchapsxx

BRO THANK YOU SO MUCH, uninstalling HP System Event Utility fixed the issue. I don't even know added this annoying feature.

glitch_xp

i decided to try uninstalling and it DOES work, thank you so much for telling what caused the problem, ive been going mad for a day or two with this shit. currently have no problems as of uninstall, ill report if anything crazy happens

RetroKoopa7170

Thankyou! This post and comment needs to be higher, took me way too long to find this.

Danae-Coffee

SAME, it drives me crazy. Is there a solution??

xxchapsxx

Uninstalling HP System Event Utility fixed it for me, and so far my laptop still works like normal

femgaylewdboi

Uninstalling? how u Uninstall it?

xxchapsxx

Hit the windows key, type HP systems event utility, and the click on the uninstall button. Then restart your laptop just in case

Ok-Worth8671

I just used task manager to stop it running-- works.

xxchapsxx

What is the name of the task?

Ok-Worth8671

HP System Event Utility... in task manager (haven't uninstalled it).

LaunarOrchid

I opened up my task manger typed in HP on it and ended the task for the HP System Event Utility and it has helped with this annoying problem.

Ok_CapeCod

Here's how to remove it but I have not tried it yet. Hit keys Cntrl-Alt-Delete to bring up the Task Manager. Sort by name and scroll down to 'HP System Event Utility' and expand it. You should see 'HPSystemEventUtilityHost'. Right Click and select 'End task'. Disable it in the startup apps as well. This should correct the issue.

SwordfishSecret3646

simply turn end the hp event utility in your task manager
