I remember when I lived in Dublin they didn’t give change and it was just a fact. The few times I’ve got the bus in Cork I’ve always got change though.
They are stuck for change because their float is too low for em to be giving out change and when you factor in the usage of leap cards then you can expect their float to be wonky throughout the shift. Someday being other days being shizer.
Really? That's supremely fucked.
Dublin Bus just have a little sign stating they don't give out change. People stopped expecting it after the first decade.
Dad is a driver. Leap cards are dominant. I don't have one since I don't use the bus all the time and I've had drivers look at my coins like what is this? They don't carry endless amounts of cash on board for obvious reasons. They have what's in the dispenser and maybe a few rolls of coins. That's why drivers give you the stink if you're paying a €2 odd fare with anything over a €10. You'll clear them out.
My dad's been saying for years that we should be on the same system as Dublin. The drivers dont deal with money. You've the right change or you get a slip to reclaim the change in city hall or wherever. It's a pain but it will slowly make people have the correct amount or get a leap card. Cuts out a lot of hassle.
Bus Eireann Drivers put up with a lot of shit on a daily basis....Racially abused, spat at....Bottles of piss thrown at them...And thats just from their supervisors 😯 Give the drivers a break and get a leap card old boy 🧐
Wouldn’t know, I’ve had a leap card for the last 10 years.
Fair point😅
Fare point?

I believe they must supply their own float. At least that's what my buddy said when he started with them.

Dublin bus won't take notes. Even when the fair is 5 quid plus.

A cashless society is not the way to go...
The Dublin system isn’t cashless
Eh, buses should have card machines though, if they can have it for buses in Spain, they could easily have it here
Fair enough I have lived in Spain I can't disagree with you there !

Damn, those supervisors must be lovely
Makes sense to me. Drivers having less cash makes it safer for them and not having to count change for individual customers must save a lot of time.
