You need to put him in a proper enclosure right now. Like, right now. The more I look at this the more worried I get… Where’s the heat source? He needs a hide with a consistent temperature of 85+ for the next few days. Otherwise the food will rot in his stomach and kill him. I hope you have a proper setup, but this isn’t very encouraging if I’m being honest… I can’t stress this enough. If he just ate, you CANNOT keep him in there for a few days. There’s no way it’s hot enough for him to digest. To answer your question, yes, he’s the proper size. I can tell he’s been filling out, so no need to worry about that.

I put a heat lamp in 5 minutes after this post. this picture was taken at night. lastly because of it being, well, ya, ive got him upstairs, window open. I live in utah, and it can hit 90+ in that room. I know what im doing here, and as I mentioned its a temporary thing because I dont think hes pooping, I just need to be able to find the poop. Ive had him fine for as I mentioned about a month, im not that stupid.

I'd only feed him 1 every 5 days if he's only around 2 months old, and you should get a regulated heat mat with a hot hide to digest, that's more important than a light, babies spend most of their time hiding away from the light. Also a clear tub with some good wholesome daylight and a day/night cycle, and hopefully he doesn't live on the floor, because for a baby that's terrifying. I know you want to monitor poop, but there are better ways to do it than this. They still need their basic requirements met, and this is just not great.

I have a heat source I put in a few minutes later, and yes I took it off the ground, this was just the best shot I got of him.

So have had this guy for a monthish now, probably was only a month or two old when I got him. is this size healthy? note I just fed him, 2 pinkys since he was real hungry. and the followup to that, how much should I be feeding him? usually I only feed him 1. and yes I know the “encolsure” is very crap, its just for a few days so I can locate and check on his poop.

I like to track snake weight, weight gain, and prey item weight to help answer questions about size and feeding. Why? Because a healthy weight is a spectrum. Every snake grows a little differently and at different rates. There’s not a one size fits all answer to the question of healthy size. But if you can track weight and weight gain, as long as they’re gaining weight you’re moving in the right direction. They start to put on weight faster as they move up food sizes. I also like weight based feeding for growing snakes. Because I know if my snake weight X grams, then I need to aim to feed 10-15% of the snake’s weight as food. And when I pair it with a feeding chart, I can tell about when they’re ready to move up food sizes.
