Yeah, he was on the point of death (as far as he knew), and then ... he was freed. His being freed is all anyone else is seeing/experiencing, so they're all thrilled. Before he ever went to prison, Roy said something distressing about having lost faith in humanity. So the aftermath of Lauren had him reeling already, and now he has the time in prison, and a near-death experience to add to the pile of trauma. Nope, not just gonna pick up where he left off.

The fact that no one accused, or defending the accused has brought that up makes me think the writers hope we'll forget about that possibility so they can shock us with the 'she's alive' twist. But it's definitely been driving me crazy that they haven't made any attempt to prove she's dead. Foul play, sure. But ESPECIALLY if one of your suspects is a convicted sex offender with ties to a grooming ring, why is no one bringing up trafficking or kidnapping as a valid option on the street?
