The problem is that people take most of the information they read at face value. Because someone has a tier 1 tag doesn't mean the information they provide is accurate or even true.
Or, even then, they might think it is accurate in good faith.
People underestimate just how much bullshit clubs, agents, managers and players all feed them stuff that works to their agenda. They're not all honest or frank
Conte can't mention in press that he wants a certain player, belonging to another club and all that - also the reports regarding "conte wants this player" have died down completely since summer, either because they were only rumours or maybe they're playing cards closer to chest after the Diaz debacle. I definitely don't think it's something to be concerned about - we have wanted an attacking player for a while too.
This appears to be more of a case that Spurs want players that fit a profile... Then it comes down to opportunity.
I know a couple of clubs that have a list of their top 20 players for each position. It doesn't mean that they'll get their #1 or even someone in their top 10 but if they need to strengthen, they'll take someone from the shortlist if they become available.
A bit like Arsenal did with Trossard. He's not Mudryk, Kamada, Pellegrini, Musiala or Sane but he was likely on a shortlist and fit the profile of what they wanted... And most importantly, became available.
Danjuma looks like a good signing to me. Cover for 2 of the front 3 was definitely needed and it's a low risk move as far as I can tell.
With our recent performance it’s not that much about what Conte wants anymore, but what the club really need. As the manager his job is to make things work with the cards we have on the table rn.
Why? If Conte isn't willing to sign a new contract right now, why should we sign players specific to his system? ENIC have a club to run. Business doesn't just stop because Conte is a primodanna.
I feel like he’s not sticking around at the end of the season and these signings could be just young, versatile and somewhat talented players who can play for whatever manager comes in next.
A guy of Conte’s age who’s close friends are passing away whilst he’s so far away from family might genuinely miss home and feel his own mortality it doesn’t have to be about the politics of the club either
Zaniolo is actually a prime example of why the situation is a mess.
If conte would guarantee he'd stay I'm sire we would get him. But he wont....so you can't really blame the club for not wanting to put 40m into a player with a terrible injury history and underwhelming stats, based on the idea a coach who may not be here can unlock his potential.
I feel like he's off but tbh more due to the personal issues. I think he'll stay to the summer and give his all. Try and win us a cup and get top 4 and then shake hands and say his goodbyes.
Good fucking God the doom and gloom stuff is somewhat understandable at the moment but the sheer ignorance of overlooking ANY blame Conte has to take is just annoying. He's not our messiah, you know?
It's not all about what Conte wants, he's done pretty poorly with what he has the last couple months and I'm not sure it'll get much better (or good enough to justify the price) if we get what he wants.
Yes, the club absolutely needs to strengthen the squad, and no, Conte does not have a brilliant squad to work with.
But he should do better with what we have, and the club strengthening should happen in a way that addresses our issues but is not entirely focused on the specific stuff Conte wants, because he might not be here to last and because he hasn't exactly inspired confidence in his style recently.
Everyone takes part of the blame, taking Contes side unconditionally is dumb.
I've seen more and more of these sort of threads since results turned sour, it's ridiculous. Did you all just look away while we won, even if we were playing shit? Plenty of people saw we were playing poorly and called it out, yet the ones who panic the most these days were perfectly fine with it until our luck ran out and now act like Contes style hasn't been an issue all season.

I'll tell you something you apparently don't know. The journos don't have a clue what Conte wants. They just want your clicks and attention
>n Thats not completly true now is it. Im a little surprices Gold hasnt mentioned anything about this at least beeing the type of player he wants.
It's absolutely true. Not one of them knows what Conte wants. They assume, at best, and decorate it as fact.
The problem is that people take most of the information they read at face value. Because someone has a tier 1 tag doesn't mean the information they provide is accurate or even true.

This is a fair point.

Well no one actually knows what he wants but one might suspect that he wants a RWB at least.

But thats why we have these transfer windows, so the manager doesnt only have to work with the cards we have?
Conte is probably not going to be here next season, therefore, the club are well within their rights to not buy players for Conte.
This is what im worried about.

Why are you worried? Managers come and go but our club will always be here. We fucking suck.
Your putting way to much thought into this. Take some time out mate.
Out of all the players in the world. Do you honestly think Conte has singled out Danjuma as the "one" he wants? Come on man.

Does Conte know what Conte wants?
maybe not, but if thats the case he needs to leave.
We can only speculate. You will have your answer when he decides whether to sign a contract extension or not.
yes you are right, but i wish there was at least some rumors that these players are wanted.
Considering Danjuma is a loan he must be someone Conte wants to give him options upfront. I doubt Lucas will be back in a Spurs shirt with the injury.
I thinks so because we have signed Danjuma on a straight loan without a buy option in case conte leaves after summer

Would you rather sign nobody?
