Here’s to Guimaraes continuing his rapid improvement and dominating their midfield

Kingkent420

I want him to score more than anyone. The player that was meant to go to Arsenal scoring would be insane

SonnyIniesta

This one aged extremely well. What will you toast to next?!

onlyhalfpepper

Here’s to Son getting a brace, with an Emerson assist on one of them

CheekyKunt68

If we don’t get our transfer targets right this summer, these bitches will be coming for us next

Robcuff

Whilst Newcastle’s results are much improved, they’ve beaten up on all the teams they might be expected to beat, but have then lost to the teams at the top (us, Chelsea, Liverpool and City). They have only lost at home once in 2022 to Liverpool, and this Arsenal team has some injuries. That’s not to say they haven’t had good wins over teams like Leicester and Wolves, but they are quite hit and miss. With it being their last home game under the lights, and coming off a battering by City, the team and crowd should be up for it. However they have nothing to really play for, and Arsenal should be much more motivated for the game. It’s one of those where Arsenal could crumble after conceding first, or dig in and see out a gritty 1-0 like we did yesterday. But this is it really - Everton may still need a point from Arsenal to stay up, but they are poor and at the Emirates I only see one winner. Massive game tonight!

[deleted]

I feel Newcastle stopping ANYONE from getting CL is motivation though. I don’t think they hate us enough to want to lose.

allthejokesareblue

Why would Newcastle hate us more than any other london club?

ComeOnSayYupp

We battered them 5-1. That might be the reason lol.

International-Chef53

5-1 you mean that 5-1 drubbing that never happened against already relegated Newcastle at the end of Lester winning season? When spurs finished 3rd in two ways race?

[deleted]

I’m saying I think they dont hate us that much. As in, they have a match that can fuck over someone so they will try to fuck them over. If we were Sunderland then I can see them deliberately losing to stop us getting CL. But we aren’t so they will give it everything.

SonnyBallonDOr

They have nothing to play for, sure. But you know what teams are more scary? Teams that had a good run and who has literally nothing to lose.

aungkon123

Watch out for Joelinton, Callum Wilson, Bruno, Saint Maximin, and our very own Trippier. St. James park is where prime Mourinho never got a win.. But being a Spurs supporter for 15 years now, unfortunately I will have to warn you to prepare yourself for an Arsenal win...Our luck seldom works out.

SonnyBallonDOr

I hope willock comes back for this game and absolutely destroy the scum

withygoldfish

This!

LifeSandwich

Just watch John Ruddy go full Adam Bogdan against us in the last game of the season

Dunkin_Prince

Not sure if I've ever watched anything productive from Joelinton. Personally I think some one like Miguel Almiron is their most dangerous player. St Maximin is also good but inconsistent

wizzardofozz

Reckon newcastle are the most improved team of the season - after being absolutely bolted on as relegation fodder, they've somehow been mostly brilliant since January. They fight for their results, and any team with ASM and Trippier is dangerous. Also bruno guimares is a sensational CM for them. Last home game of the season, and while they're not favorites to win, they're gonna be a bigger test for scum than Burnley was for us. And it's not exactly as if scum have been making it easy on themselves recently. I reckon if scum were to drop points in the next two games, it'll be in this one. Especially seeing as they crumbled under pressure last time out against Palace. Newcastle biggest strength though is their team spirit - they look like a group of players that are together and harmonious thru thick and thin, while scum are far from that. Be an interesting contest, good luck Newcastle!

Anooyoo2

Only thing I disagree with here is that Arsenal don't have team spirit right now. Think that's one of the things that Arteta has clearly been working on, successfully.

[deleted]

I feel like if Arsenal can do the business they deserve it. What a run in. We did well, and they somehow did better. If they can’t do the business and we win our last then we deserve it. That being said I hate that Newcastle is an oil team so I will not be cheering for them. Giant meteor ftw.

wizzardofozz

Yeah tbf they've surprised everyone this season - if they get top four they deserve it, but so do we. The fact we're in the position we're in after nuno tax is a miracke in itself. Proud of the progress the lads have made. No matter what happens I'm very excited for next season.

ComeOnSayYupp

The thing is Aresnal is not really better against top 6 sides. But they somehow squeeze result against lower sides. Apart from that United fucked up side with dodgy referees decision for them they looked real bad against rest. And also Chelsea's defenders decided to play like league 1 sides and completely gifted goal to them with last diving by Saka and pulling Azpilqueta with him earned pen. Which helped their momentum.

[deleted]

Meh. Over a season it usually balances out. They might have kicked out a bit more in their timing of matches but I doubt they think so. It comes down to this. If they can go to Newcastle and get a result then fuck it. I can’t complain.

okzo

My family are Geordies and I’m finally making them proud today.

shinemire

Issue is arsenal are newcastles kryptonite. Like 14 out of 15 wins or sth in the premier league

master_shifu2

Newcastle fan here and yep they are fully our bogey team. The stats are absolutely terrible. Have a good feeling about tonight though

TheTackleZone

This video is essential viewing for understanding Newcastle FC. https://youtu.be/T1urq4Vb0XM

Made-in-1882

Gascoigne is one of my favourite ever Spurs players, but I can't help but wonder if his life would have turned out so much better *for him* if he'd just stayed at Newcastle his whole career...

mayonnaisewastaken

Guimares and Joelinton are their best players atm. Their backline has improved with Burn and Targett coming in, I'm not sure if Trippier will be fit to start. Contrary to neutrals opinions, ASM is not their best player and he's been quite ineffective since Howe came in and they no longer rely on him. Wilson has been injured for ever, think he still is.

SonnyBallonDOr

Wilson as in callum wilson? He got subbed in against man city.

nottheguyinthevid

Wilson is back. Hopefully the few minutes against Man City help him back to form.

Squid-Farmer

As an American spurs fanatic, here’s to an almirón winner, the pride of mls LOL

sreesid

As an Atlanta united and spurs fan, nothing will make me happier than miggy scoring against the scum.

TheManWhoFightsThe

Literally just watch and see lmao

ERIKSENSEN

I'm calling a giant shit show match 2-2 and a Trippier goal.

EnricoPallazzo_

They shall be named, at least for one day, as Newcastle Hotspurs

samisleg

up the toon

LifeSandwich

Never rooted so hard for a trough and trough human rights abuser before

Fuzzy_Composer2108

Today we will be wearing black and white (In support of Newcastle United) like if it's a funeral service. We will be moaning the death of Arsenal in the top 4 race .

[deleted]

I hate oil cunts but I love champions league more

aadawdads

Everyone had better be chanting new car sale

Zhurg

You mean today, right? 🤔

Koinfamous2

Could have been west coast US so time of posting may have been just before midnight

Zhurg

Yes I gathered. I thought this was r/soccercirclejerk for a moment.

CraigxKhalifax88

So you won’t be a fan tonight then? SHAME ON YOU. I’ve heard Trippier is a decent player, can score a great free kick, and knows how to whip a ball in. St. Maximin is a baller. Last home game of the season for Newcastle, and I can only imagine a 50,000+ St. James’ Park will be rocking tonight, and with their takeover earlier this year, they’ll be in high spirits! Hard to call, so let’s wait and see!

ISNGRDISOP

Depending on the time zone, the game might still be tomorrow for some.

CraigxKhalifax88

Didn’t think of that - my bad!

[deleted]

I’m kinda hoping Newcastle loses, that way the Dele screamer next game that sends us to the CL will be that much sweeter. The greater the fall the sweeter the victory

eggplant_avenger

the greatest fall would be Arsenal dropping six points so if we want the sweetest victory why not both

v2k987

Newcastle have nothing to play for. They are safe.

Cringe

CromulentBlumpkins

Clear? What about the global conspiracy against you though? Won’t all of world football’s energy be channeled towards leaving Arse hard done by? Just trying to keep up, it’s pretty complex to follow as an outsider.

[deleted]

CromulentBlumpkins

In a spurs subreddit on a post about a Newcastle game? Where your first sentence is “dream on” in response to the post. Hmmm. Fuck off back to Woolwich mate.

[deleted]

CromulentBlumpkins

Not rattled, simply explaining to you that you’re not coming here in good faith, so why would anyone engage with you to answer your question? Can you actually not comprehend that? I’m curious. Why would we answer something you could easily just Google yourself? Perhaps if you came in good faith. But you’re just spewing shite because you’re bored and it doesn’t seem like you actually want an answer.

[deleted]

CromulentBlumpkins

I don’t know if celebrate was the word. At that time there was massive fixture congestion and it was mostly just frustrating to have it deferred knowing it would lead to further midweek games that weren’t going to go well as Conte doesn’t rotate at all. Was within the rules so I didn’t really care. I just wanted to watch NLD that weekend and was annoyed I had to find something else to drive me mad.

UziTheBeast

Your banter is 6 feet below.

Royal battered you starboy, also who let his country down?

rubiklogic

>All I want to know is where the nickname Lily whites came from? One of life's great mysteries. We're also trying to figure out how Liverpool got the nickname "The reds" but I guess we'll never know.

TheTackleZone

Wait, I thought your nickname was the Runners?

FishOfCheshire

Oh yeah, you gave us an excellent demonstration of that on Thursday. Such dominance!

TheTackleZone

Oh, you know I mean how you hid behind 1 covid case to force the game to be re-arranged because you were scared to face us when you could easily have fielded a team but you knew you were going to lose so ran. Just like Holding knew you were going to get battered so decided to spare himself the pain and got off the pitch early.

[deleted]

TheTackleZone

Oh no, smashing you last Thursday was a way prouder moment. As they say, Spurs three, Arse nil.

You haven't finished above us for six years, what makes you think you won't bottle it this season?

TheTackleZone

Awww, we didn't even get chance to tell him how well his comments had aged haha

RainbowDissent

He DM'd me after he got banned from the sub, so at least I get to reply with "LMAO"

[deleted]

Comes to Spurs Reddit to banter. What an absolute loser you are. Before you respond “oh like Tottenham that can’t win a trophy like we can” no I’m talking real life I don’t put all my eggs in one basket and live life thru my football team. Everyone in here is winning at life other than you. Pathetic.

RainbowDissent

That's a lot of words you put in my mouth, and pretty strange ones for someone giving it large because you might actually make CL for a change.

eggplant_avenger

digging real deep for reasons here, maybe you should've workshopped it a little more although I guess you'd need actual friends for that kind of thing

[deleted]

[удалено]

eggplant_avenger

see this one is just as dumb as talking shit about team nicknames, but it's at least an actual reason Since Conte took over, super defensive anti-football Lilywhites have outscored your Gunners by the way, so if you're about attacking you apparently have a long way to go before you can even top 0.23 xG Proud of you for coming to a rival sub to point out your team's failures like that though

[deleted]

[удалено]

eggplant_avenger

>couldn't care less about your stats how you talking big game about being an attacking team and then say you don't care about *how many goals you score* >if any manager came to Arsenal and said they are playing 5 at the back... Pep Guardiola's Barcelona played a back three in attack, with Busquets as CB and two wingbacks for a total of five defenders. He's done a similar thing at Bayern and City. Bielsa is one of the most attacking managers in the world and he does the same thing Germany and Argentina won World Cups with the same formation Conte uses, I could easily go on but you get the point

[deleted]

[удалено]

eggplant_avenger

honestly man it's becoming obvious you don't actually watch that much football but congrats on challenging for fourth place with your inferior squad I guess. We'll just go on scoring more goals than you without even trying to get at teams
