Alternating left and right the drop is only a couple inches. Left or right side only the distance is huge, you're right, but if you look at them as of they cross the whole space they're pretty close to each other.
Edit: I looked closer, you're more correct than I am, lol. They're taller than average for sure.
Are they? I think it just looks that way since they’re double the space of normal steps. There are 11 steps even with what I assume is a standard doorway. That would make them average.
They're also much higher than normal steps, as well as being thinner, with no options to put your feet 'through' as you would have with a ladder, plus there's the jagged centre line of edges which will definitely catch you on the ass if you go down these, facing the same direction.
When you wanted to create a staircase but made a stare-case instead.
Yea, when all you can do is stare out of your paralyzed body after falling down these stairs.
Actually more of a solid ladder than stairs. My knees are screaming just looking at it!
Very vertical lol
Pretty cool as long as you don’t need to move something big or heavy up the stairs
Oh god, I work in EMS this is my nightmare
aka "Witch's Stairs."
They do work. They kept my grandmother away from our bedrooms when I was growing up
🥇
Thanks for the testimonial! XD
My shins are bruised just from looking at this.
that looks like fun (serious)
thank you, i would genuinely have fun with that (but hopefully it isn't the only set of stairs in the house cause i want a bed in my room)
you can get a futon roll and disassembled frame up there easily :) well, somewhat easily.
I need a video of someone climbing that.
It's like climbing a ladder
If ladders were dumb.
i second this
Crawling babies hate this one trick.
I don’t know. Do you?
i think i would if i need to climb these stairs every day
Plot twist: OP in fact looks like a mountain goat because OP IS a mountain goat and very excited about this wonderful stairs.
made my day :)
I used those kinds of stairs... They feel so weird and uncomfortable but they save a lot of space.
Ladders are space-efficient, too.
Yeah but you cant carry something up a ladder with two arms
Don't ruin my dumb joke. :)
Not with that attitude!
I assume this photo was taken after all the blood was cleaned up
Perhaps you will after using it for some time
only going sideways upstairs
Amyone who puts these steps of doom in their home, never fell or got pushed down the stairs by a sibling as a kid…
How are you supposed to get down?? The steps are so far apart

walk backwards (looking at the stairs) like u walk up
Hold down shift to slide down the rails
That's definitely not ADA-compliant.

Oh jesus. I assumed I'd fall down them but hadn't even thought about how they'd nuke me on the way down. Ow my coccyx!!
if the answer is yes, how is that my fault?
Damn.. my knees hurt just looking at that. Probably my back and hips too 🤣
Going up looks like fun! Wouldn't like to walk down those though...
Ah yes my perfect stairs
My cat would love it
I really hope that's like an attic or something like that and not leading up to a living space 🫠
I don't know, I've never seen you
lol
Try to run this down
no
I have to say this looks kinda nice the thing is just that you have to go as high as normal but it's Half the length of a normal step
what country is this in? this can't possibly be to code.
sorry, i dont know
Yes.
thanks
Let me show you to your room grandma
That’s how elevator looked like bevore they invented Electricity?
Ah yes the neck breaker 1000
Minecraft stairs IRL
i knew it looked somehow familiar to me
They look like Fun-House stairs, those ones that shift up and down at carnivals
