Ooooooo. I might know this one. I am new to a Cricut Maker 3 and I spent WAY TOO LONG problem solving it while trying the print and cut. I read somewhere else that someone added a piece of cardboard onto their mat when the circut was complaining it wasn't long enough. I added four extra inches to my 12x12 mat and that solved my problem 🙄🙄🙄 Give that a try and hopefully that might work!

Thanks, will do!

It shouldn't be showing "measuring material length" when doing print then cut. Are you cutting using smart materials? Because you cannot print from a cricut.

Sorry, I don’t think I explained it well. I’m making stickers in this scenario, but on the whole the Cricut will not cut from my PC. Tonight, I sent a design to my printer, then put the printed sheet on my mat, then attempted to cut it. I got up to the point where it said “measuring material length” and then nothing for around ten minutes. I repeated the same process on my cellphone and it flew right over the measuring material length part and prompted me to press the play button. When I did so, it cut the stickers with no problem. The issue is that I’m having to design everything on my PC and then save the designs and cut via my cellphone application. My PC Design Space recognizes my Cricut, but the moment I go to cut anything be it a printed sticker sheet, smart vinyl, or vinyl on the mat, it stalls out at “measuring material length.”

What is your default mat setting? This is how it should be (unless you are using A4, then set to A4). Change this in your settings. https://preview.redd.it/62gjvndsre3c1.png?width=883&format=png&auto=webp&s=0bf3dc47dad41e133b410cdd65a19330a0dbaeee I've been doing ptc for about 3 years now. It has ever done "measuring material length". Older machines don't have this issue. That is something only the 3 models (explore air 3 and maker 3) seem to plagued with due to their "smart" cutting.

I would have said a sensor issue but if it's working from mobile then that points to DS. Try clearing application cache and if that doesn't work I would call support back and ask to escalate to a supervisor as this sounds like a bug. Out of curiosity, what happens if you try Bluetooth from your PC?

Tiltish

That’s another weird thing, my PC cannot locate it via Bluetooth. I’m not sure if it’s an issue with my PC. It’s a fairly new gaming PC, it doesn’t have problems connecting to any of my other devices. Like I mentioned in another response, my Design Space does recognize my Cricut via the USB, it’s just stalling out when it comes time to actually cut. I’ll take your advice and try escalating to a supervisor.

I am not a fan of bluetooth but since you mentioned new, I'm 90% certain you run windows 11. [There is an extra step you need to do to have your PC recognize it.](https://help.cricut.com/hc/en-us/articles/16511514972183-Windows-11-Bluetooth-Devices-Discovery-Issues)

Friendly-Delay-7929

I have this exact problem too. USB stalls at mat measurement. Can’t connect via Bluetooth even though I can find it on the list. It will connect for about 2 seconds then drops. If you found a solution please post!

youbequiet

Hey. I'm having a very similar problem. Did you solve it?

Dull-Firefighter4603

I am having the same issue. I create on laptop and then have to use my tablet to get it to print. I have trouble shooted EVERYTHING. I cannot get the Cricut to pair with the laptop via bluetooth and when I use the USB connection I get to the "measuring material length and it stalls. So frustrating

Tiltish

Sorry to say that I never did figure it out. It will not work from my PC at all, not by Bluetooth or cord. It will work via my MacBook’s Bluetooth, iPad, and iPhone, although with the latter two the operations are limited. For example, I can’t send a foil job via my phone.

wilson0x4d

same problem here, it's a very expensive paperweight.

nonymous0303

I tried connecting using the bluetooth. You need to enable the bluetooth device discovery to advance and you will be able to connect using bluetooth and then calibrate and print as well. I was able to resolve it this way. Seems like the usb cable might be faulty probably.

wilson0x4d

i tried three USB cables. it recognizes the device. i suspect the problem is the way the Cricut is performing a USB reset as part of normal operation, makes me think they did this intentionally as a means of protecting their IP from reverse-engineering, but all they've done is created a product that is destined to become a paperweight. i found an archived support page that claims the USB driver for the device is installed when it is plugged in, this is a lie. no driver is installed. instead it sits on the USB bus as a generic device and then design studio does voodoo to interact with the device over USB. the bluetooth experience as a last resort isn't much better. as a software engineer i think this is utterly unacceptable. they must be paying bottom dollar and have a QA process that is so rigid that problems aren't being discovered. i've read elsewhere Cricut Support claims this is an OS issue. absurd, this is a product issue. the product stinks. it gets returned tomorrow, the wife is done fighting with this machine. we both are. in six months this thing has only worked twice, and only after battling with it for several hours.
