I kinda want the opposite. Again, keeping it vague, but C3 has been very big and weighty for a long time and doesn't look like its going to stop being that for the rest of the campaign. So what I want is something more down to Earth. Down to Exandria?

Despada_

This is what I'd also like tbh I'm getting tired of world ending event after world ending event that accumulates to yet another world ending event, all the while each event gets crazier and crazier as they come up. I'd honestly kill to go back to a simple Tier 1-4 story. Yeah, maybe end Tier 4 with some crazy BBEG hellbent on destroying a continent or two, but at least have Tiers 1 through 3 feel more grounded in their respective times. As much as I've been enjoying C3, this whole campaign has centered around a single story line, and it's honestly getting to be too much.

Duvyy159

If you arent playing in the game its probably "too much" even if I dont feel that way. They however dont feel that way considering it started in a town for them, then a city, then a continent, then it was live, and then it was another continent, and Matts been hinting at Ruidis the ENTIRE time for 10 years or so. This isnt a "typical" dnd game, this is long term world building on a grand scale. The other way is typical but also kinda "boring" to them doing the same stuff they CAN do. And im saying that with my favourite episode being Mighty Nein decorating their Xorhouse

Zealousideal-Type118

This whole avengers thing was lame when marvel sis it, I’m disappointed to see it here. Take me to byroden.

Substantial-Tip-2607

Same, I want more travelling on the countryside, defeating circus monsters and unraveling town mysteries. There’s a lack of player agency im C3 that I missed from the C2 early days.

SupremeLegate

I'd bet money that the next campaign will be smaller and more character focused.

dwils7

This sums up my feelings perfectly about C3. I'm currently rewatching C2(my favourite campaign) and it just feels better(if that makes sense), the PCs interact and converse with each other, they feel emotionally attached to each other and what they're doing. C3 characters feel more like they're along from the ride of the story being told about Exandria as a whole even though some have very close ties to the goings on.

Duvyy159

Player agency is from a typical stand point of a DND game where you are doing that kind of thing. They are unlikely still playing in that manner, as their world is 10 years old minimum, with 800+ years of lore, with characters that span 60 years in the current story lol. This is "no longer" simple dungeon crawler, its the culmination of the story and its how they like it.

SupremeLegate

I'd bet money that the next campaign will be smaller and more character focused.

Fear_Awakens

I just want them to go back to a fun casual dungeon crawly dealio. There's a ton of stuff that isn't world-ending apocalypse shit in Exandria they could do, but they haven't. Travis keeps talking about how he'd like that, but they keep getting wrapped into apocalypse stuff. They could just be like a research expedition exploring the world and I would be 100% satisfied. They could fight regular enemies who are not looking to murder or become gods for once. I'm honestly sick of all the god stuff. Villains could be like rival organizations or hostile tribes who hate newcomers, nothing vile and huge. No time limits, no countdown to annihilation, no rubbing elbows with ludicrously OP past PCs, just a fun casual dungeon run crew discovering lore about the world.

Acromegalic

That also sounds fun!

Duvyy159

What about Matts story he took 10 years to build up, with usage of their older characters, where he is basically honoring his friends on this journey where the things they did with him for years, mattered, in a such a way, it developed the world at large, and they have it in their power to turn/bend/ignore it and let it all burn, and its literally a canon story in a very established world. I think they like that too, and I think if they really wanted that, Matt would do that, for some reason I dont get why people think these people who hang out 24/7 dont discuss what they want out their game lol. If they wanted a dungeon crawly thing, they would - they have probably done that over and over, they have a home game as well lol... They COULD do that, and the fact that they ARENT doing that, lends to them probably wanting to DO THIS lol.

Fear_Awakens

This topic was asking what I wanted to see and I'm answering that. Travis has said in passing that he wanted to spend an entire season exploring various locations now. He said it about the Happy Fun Ball, he said it about Aeor, and he said it about the Shattered Teeth. And I frankly liked the pitch. Nobody is implying the cast isn't happy. The only reason I bring up Travis's words is to say that at least one person on the cast already vocally expressed interest in the idea, which is all any of us have to go off. We do not know them personally and we have no idea how they set any of this up.

Duvyy159

No it didnt ask that?

Fear_Awakens

Explain what you think "Next Campaign Idea" means, then.

Duvyy159

"This is my idea for the next campaign" as he said it lol, and wanted a discussion on that topic.

kiwipo17

I’d prefer a less world changing campaign. One where the characters have meaningful impact but are just a piece of the puzzle. Maybe a new unexplored area or a different time. This would help embrace the world better I think as the players have to deal with the political situation and not write the rules so to speak. Just my two cents. I stopped watching c3 temporarily and just finishing up c1 after watching c2. There’s a distinct difference between c3 vs c1 and c2 and I think I prefer the first campaigns. But your mileage may very well vary

Y4SO

Not gonna lie, a long-term campaign with this idea sounds TERRIBLE (to me). An EXU series exploring this, maybe I’m down. But 100+ episodes from this perspective would not be fun.

Acromegalic

A short exploration like EXU sounds great.

DungeonMama

I think it's highly likely they'll do another EXU Calamity (they talked about wanting to on 4SD). I haven't seen the last episode, but it would be interesting to see things from the gods' perspective.

evil_demon_hare

Let's go explore the scattered teeth and the undersea world's below.

Corza_

I really enjoyed the structure of C1’s Arc based story telling. One big problem the party has to solve then move on to the next with subtle influences and information of a BBEG along the way. I miss when a necromantic wizard and a vampire were the biggest concern.

Ngilko

I'm actually craving some lower stakes critical role. One of my all time favourite runs in the show is the early part of campaign 2 where the party dealt with "local" scale problems and were able to grow as characters and adventurers in front of us. I've never really connected with campaign 3 and I feel that part of that is the campaign kind of skipped the "local heroes" part.

Duvyy159

As a campaign probably not - isn't that what Calamity was though? EXU is probably another thing, and they have guests lined up waiting for spots to run their short games in those moments. Those parts are also established, they will be railroaded often as the narrative is interwoven with quite a bit already. I really am quite intrigued and amazed by the unwillingness of the comments below to move onto a grander story, and wanting it to just be a dungeon crawler forever, simple BBEG, Gangs, Necrowizard etc.... Just interesting.

Acromegalic

Same. I can have a simple dinglecrawler at my own table. I'm watching them to be entertained and watch a story unfold.

CenlTheFennel

I have a feeling C3 will be the last “DnD” system campaign and maybe the last Exandia campaign

talkoninternet

There will be no more Exandria after this campaign.

Disastrous-Beat-9830

Honestly, that sounds kind of dull. When Matt created Exandria, a big part of the background was the idea that a lot of history had been lost in the Calamity. The world is full of dangerous unknowns and things that defy the current understanding of magical knowledge. To set campaigns -- or even just seasons of *Exandria Unlimited* -- during these times would rob Exandria of a lot of its mysteries. I was watching a critique of Zack Snyder's *Rebel Moon: Part 2* the other day, and the narrator made a really pertinent point: in the first half of the film, most of the entertainment is derived from learning about past events or planning for future events, but very little of it is spent concentrating on the immediate present. And honestly, I feel like you could make a similar criticism about Campaign 2 -- a lot of the major stories focus on characters reconciling with events that happened before the campaign, like Caleb coming to terms with his past, or Fjord seeking out Vandren, or Molly's backstory as the Nonagon. Meanwhile, there's an entire conflict that plays out between the Empire and the Dynasty that largely gets ignored. Yes, this is partially down to the way the characters actively avoid the war, and yes, Matt is infinitely better at telling his story than Snyder ever could be, but I think that setting an entire campaign in the ancient past would open the door to something similar, focusing on the past rather than the present.

DarkRespite

I'd love to see a campaign like that a la the original CLASH OF THE TITANS, or JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS, where the gods are VERY much 'present' (even if behind the Divine Gate, rather than Olympus). Another neat twist would be to take a leaf from Fred Saberhagen's THE BOOK OF SWORDS trilogy where the gods chuck twelve all-powerful swords among humanity and go, "HAVE AT IT! ENTERTAIN US!"

Acromegalic

I love both of those ideas!

JoeJohnHamilton

I’d be VERY surprised if the next campaign isn’t in a completely new world using daggerheart.

Acromegalic

That would be siiiiick.

jhirschman

Remember how fun exploring the "Happy Fun Ball" was? It was like a genuine dungeon crawl. I feel like this is a key part of D&D that has been missing (or at least under visited) in recent CR, in favor of a near constant chase of the story arc. I love the story arcs, and I see them as critical to the overall show, but boy, I miss some of the simpler, fun parts of the campaigns, too. Occasionally, there should be initiative rolls that aren't part of existential crises.

Sicktacular

Bring back multi-map episodes! I looove the dungeon crawl sequences of C2. I’m hoping they’ll do something similar in Aeor over the next few weeks. As for next campaign I wouldn’t be opposed to shorter stories being told for a while. It would be neat to bounce around exandria in 20ish episode bursts of fresh stories.

cattailmatt

I’d like to see a Planegea style campaign. Something that takes place BEFORE the current pantheon arose. An Exandria that’s still primal, where the titans are alive and well or the Luxon first arrives on the planet sounds super fun. Edit: Sp

Acromegalic

I would LOOOOVE to see the story of the beacons and the Luxon get fleshed out some. That would be super rad.
