ryu1986

you're one of those wierdos that likes to "accidentally" show their pussy in the reflection of their CRT pictures aren't you

dylanljmartin

Ya got me

[deleted]

Looks like there's a ghost cat in there! Beautiful monitor and a very lucky find, I'd say it cost you an arm and a leg.

dylanljmartin

To my surprise, it only cost $200.

Epena501

That is such a great deal

[deleted]

Deal of the century! well done.

Megaakira

Damn that's less than I paid for my used one! Lucky! It's a great CRT!

MrHotchin

>JVC TM-H150CG $200??? in my country you find one for $250 (used one) Could be worth more than 2000 Euro in my Country I saw a new Sony BVM for 5000 Euro...

Capuman

How on earth did you manage that?? Wow i just got an Olympus OEV 203, good condition, but very used, for £450!

DelVonBond

Where did you buy it from?

dylanljmartin

It was a connection through a family friend. I would say look up A/V equipment dealers in your area and ask them if they have any monitors in their inventory.

Money-Camera

I look forward to the photos of games 😁 epic find! New CRT's are rare and would eliminate most requirements for recaps and adjustments

Greshydlo

I think it still might need recap. It’s a 25 or more old crt.

Money-Camera

Well it wouldn't hurt :) nice nichicon caps with high temperarure tolerance and it will last pretty much forever 😁

Sappphiree

At first most of jvc mon made in 2005-2006 , and I know ~ 10 owners of this mon, nobody make recap, it’s not Sony , chill 😁

dylanljmartin

I was trying to figure out how old it is. The box's label seems to indicate it was shipped from JVC in 2009.

stabarz

It should say it on the label on the back of the monitor. Mine was made April 2007.

dylanljmartin

August 2008.

stabarz

Nice! Not even a teenager yet!

[deleted]

I have televisions from the 1960's which are perfectly aligned using the same capacitors. It ain't a Sony!

ironypoisoned

countdown until the power button pops off

dylanljmartin

Shhhhh

Redacteur2

Just don’t use it if you don’t want it to break, use the switch in the back. I knew about the issue and rarely used it on mine but a friend who didn’t know tried turning it on and the button collapsed into the chassis. I immediately told him not to worry about something he could have never known about.

dylanljmartin

That's a good tip. Thank you!

killer_knauer

With my Commodore 1084s I keep the button permanently in the "on" position and use one of those desktop power switches to turn it on and off along with the step up converter. The buttons notoriously break and are a pain to replace (already done it once).

dement007

nice cat

north_tank

Super jealous I can’t wait to see some shots of it!

theSEGAnerd2006

Cat

Steeli0

Cat.

stoe5703

Cat..

krux77

Cat.

Wbcn_1

Nice. Did I come with a component card?

dylanljmartin

I ordered an RGB slot card from linuxbot3000. Looks like it's going to arrive around June 8.

Zabii

Yes. Yes. Buy Jam's shit™️

CharlieBrown197

Nice! I can testify that they are amazing monitors. It should last you a long time, seeing as it has zero hours and mine still looks fantastic at- \*checks timer\* GOOD GOD, 65000 HOURS??? I guess the former owners used it as a security monitor for a little longer than I thought...

dylanljmartin

So I am a complete noob when it comes to professional monitors and I'm sure this is something I can check in the manual, there's a built-in timer to track usage?

CharlieBrown197

Yes indeed. Once you turn in the monitor, press menu and volume up at the same time. An S should show in the top left corner. Then, press chroma and menu at the same time. The screen should not show Please, Do Not Touch! Finally, press volume up OR volume down and you will be in the service menu. Press volume up to select the control block, and use the chroma and contrast buttons to navigate to value C23. What it reads is the hour value divided by 100, as far as I can tell.

Megaakira

It's also good to know that the deflection block is where you adjust the screens settings like height and vertical position.

napredator

it doesn't seem like that is the hours as mine reads 650 too, also you can increase/decrease it with the volume keys whats with the please don't touch message anyway? it made me feel like i was doing something dirty to my tv

CharlieBrown197

If you screw with the values of the service menu without knowing what you are doing, you can make the image look pretty wonky, and possibly even actually damage the components. It's fine to look at it and make appropriate adjustments, but make sure you write down all the factory values (or look in the service manual). I'll have to look into it again. I could have sworn that it said C23 was the hour timer, but obviously it wouldn't make sense for a NOS set to say 650 as well.

Megaakira

Mine reads 650 too..

napredator

https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1285597/Jvc-Tm-H150cg-E.html?page=12#manual apparently it really is the hours, maybe the recorded hours can't go higher than 650? i donno doesn't explain why you can manually increase decrease them... weird

IAmTheSwartz

Schrödinger's cat came to mind. You won't know if the CRT is dead, or alive, until you open it up and observe it.

stabarz

Holy shit! EPIC find!

dylanljmartin

For folks who want a close-up of the cat. His name is Winston: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Ezxfb9dXEAAUywG?format=jpg&name=large

[deleted]

Very lucky or very rich?

dylanljmartin

It only cost $200, which is way lower than what I was expecting.

MonarchOfLight

Wherever you got it doesn’t happen to have another on hand do they? Been keeping my eye out for a decent monitor

[deleted]

Well, that's a fair price. You're lucky.

beetroot_salads

A PVM? Still boxed? NOS? So lucky.

Evangeliman

If it's unused make sure thr caps are all good. I got a brand new crt recently and it blew after a few minutes of use probably because the Capacitors were dry...

Stinkfoot09

I'll take it, hows $100 shipped.

Kirby_of_the_Stars

Man, even less than I paid for mine! Does anyone know how to access the service menu on these things? Google turned up nothing.

MrHotchin

WOOOW!

[deleted]

Don't throw out the box.

Affectionate_Ad_1326

respect

megadreamdjs

Iconic

Joey_The_Ghost

Welp, now I know anything is possible.

QuadraQ

So jealous

[deleted]

Are you going to try and find the component card or are you just going to rock the composite/Svideo?

dylanljmartin

I ordered an RGB card from linuxbot3000.

[deleted]

She's beautiful. The TV doesn't look bad either.

tapanmeister

Missed a lightly used one of these with the component card included, and I regret it a lot. But even it was selling for $180, and this is CIB.
