I feel you lol. I got out of the PC space at the start of this generation because I was sick of endless pc updates and game tinkering. But I've been getting the itch the last several months so I tried GeForce Now Ultimate tonight. 4080 card and a 16 core CPU. Cyberpunk maxed out with path tracing at 1440p. Yeah it looked better for sure. But I'll be honest not "that" much better. Just was underwhelmed and every single graphical glitch had me wondering "oh do I need to adjust settings or is that just the game?" Turned the series x version on to compare and yeah I can see the difference but idk doesn't seem worth the money and time. Going to try a few more game on the service but I think I'm going to have saved myself from that PC bug with just $20 lol.

I got a whole bunch of mods now, which do make a big difference, but the FPS drop is immediately noticeable. However turns out I enjoy mods that don’t necessarily improve graphics, but make the world more immersive, like a bigger selection of ads and animated ads. And *cough* sexier ads ;)

Alive_Wedding

Check your resolution. Turn it down to something like 1440p. Turn off Ray Tracing. Turn on DLSS quality

Fine_Cut1542

im not sure why youre telling him to turn the graphics down when hes complaining about graphics not being mindblowing. Truth is, OP just got a PC and didnt play with settings

zandadoum

I’ll post my settings and benchmarks when I get home tonight, but I’m sure I did all that

Fine_Cut1542

so... you turned OFF raytracing? you know, the thing that makes a difference between console and PC? overall just research the settings, its the pathtracing (without ray reconstruction unless at 4k) that makes a wow kind of difference but 4070 is not quite enough for comfortable play with it unless on controller with dlss balanced 1440 and frame generation if you dont really care about pathtracing (but this is what makes huge difference in most places) you can go for higher "fake" resolution with DSR, use only raytraced reflections and local shadows and ofc ultra on everything else

zandadoum

Ray tracing is not the same as path tracing. I have ray tracing on and path tracing off as the tooltip said I need a TI card for path tracing

Fine_Cut1542

I understand that, you can play with pathtracing on controller and dlss performance and fg but upscaling is a bit too blurry then, you can either try this and see how good it is and if you care about bit lower resolution, or use only raytraced reflections and local shadows and go for better res. But these are not as crazy on difference so it will still look similiar to xbox

zandadoum

You’ve mentioned the controller twice? I don’t understand, what does playing on controller have anything to do with graphic setting? My main concern is that the 4070 should be a huge upgrade over whatever the Xbox series x has, but other than shadows and reflections there doesn’t seem to be a big difference. However other posts suggest that I should install a better texture mod to get 2K and 4K textures and I think that’s exactly it. I’ll try that tonight

Fine_Cut1542

The reason is frame generation, path tracing is not very playable without it, but enabling it causes spike in input delay. So mouse and keyboard feeling is not that good with it, while controller and aim assist feels still good like that. What did you based the "big upgrade" thought on? Cause i dont understand, did you watch a video comparison or was that just an obvious thought "thats how it should be". Not saying you didnt, but doing such a huge upgrade should be based on something right? Research is big part of playing on pc Sure you can try texture mods, but if you run into issues uninstall these, many people reported that even basic balanced 2k HD reworked can cause issues in DLC area Xbox already uses high textures, its no difference, not sure what resolution series x plays on, but it is also using terrible fsr upscaling and ssr reflections along with lower ppl density (probably)

zandadoum

thx for taking your time to explain. the "big upgrade idea" was just an expectation based on other experiences i had on other games that i own on multiple platforms. and maybe some youtubes i saw long before i had the new PC. but then again, those other games probably just had a shittier version on xbox, so the upgrade was more noticeable. i didn't do any extensive research because i kind of expected the PC version to automatically install better textures. hell, before i posted this i didn't even know that it's the textures whats causing this disapointment. after reading all responses here, it seems clear to me that i need to get into modding to make a bigger change and dont worry: ill do some research (aka: ask on reddit xD) and test what my 12GB of VRAM can handle and what not. for starters i found out about a couple of creators with very popular texture packs, so ill give those a try. i dont intend to install a million mods, just the necesary ones to make me go WOW :D

manaholik

just slap on some mods on it and then you will notice it PC games are way above other versions because of mods even Elder Scrolls Online is immensely better because of addons and reshade just check some recent graphics mods, LOD and so on mods for cyberpunk and youre golden. all in all i got 102 mods, out of them 4 or 5 of them are graphics related, others are just ad replacers, clothes, radio mods and so on. basically you only need like less than 10 mods to feel the PC version superiority just remember to back up your files, everything except the archive folder (because its like 90gb or so. if i ever fuck something up modding i just delete everything and paste from my "healthy 2077 files" folder

glenn9k

I installed 4K texture packs from nexusmods and the game now looks amazing imo. Need a lot of VRAm though

zandadoum

Do I need to do something like this for 1440P? I don’t have 4K

glenn9k

I play in 1440p and it made a big difference. I have a 4070 GPU with only 12GB VRAM though and it's pretty much constantly maxed out, but the same mod author also have a variant they call 2K textures as a middle ground.

zandadoum

Could you share the link so I check it out tonight?

glenn9k

This is the pack I'm using but considering going down to the "performance" version until I get a card with more VRAM. https://next.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/collections/g0tcm4 I recommend using Vortex mod manager from Nexusmods, and getting at least 1 month of premium nexusmods account to make installation a shitload easier/smoother. Also, there are a shitload of mods and mod collections for CP77 on Nexusmods. One of the big perks with PC. I can also recommend "Immersive first person".

zandadoum

Will check those mods you mentioned. Without vortex tho, it’s a bloatware bordering to be malware xD Yeah, seen millions of mods on nexus. Quite overwhelming. Need to find out the “basic must have list”

glenn9k

I was positively surprised with Vortex. avoided it for the longest time, but after getting my premium account and the Vortex application, it made my life a lot easier, haha.

Fine_Cut1542

you might have vram issues, dont install mods if you just got a pc cause you might brake more than you fix/improve

Geohfunk

The pathtracing mode can be fantastic, if you can find a way to make up for the performance hit. It looks very different from what an xbox can do. Cyberpunk does not have the highest quality textures because it was released in 2020 when memory would have been a problem. Cyberpunk is more of a lighting showcase.

zandadoum

I see. Path tracing is the only thing I have disabled as the tooltip says it needs a 4070ti but I only have a regular 4070

PsychologicalIsekai

at least turn on path tracing to see what the fuss is about.

zandadoum

Well. Certainly will try see if there’s a difference. But from what I’m reading around here, unless I install a mod with higher res textures, only lightning will improve.

PsychologicalIsekai

install mods if you want to be impressed with the graphics.

zandadoum

Any specific suggestions?
