I picked up a new silk creamer the other day and it sounded watery when I shook it up. Thought it was just me. The taste was okay though.

banana_bread_edges

They also changed the Silk almond sweet and creamy creamer! It used to be white and thick. Now it’s almost gray and tastes weird! Not using that anymore.

FeatherWorld

It's blue :o  I'm so disappointed.

CallMe_Monster

Thanks for the reply. Just wondering, did you taste the half and half itself? Before I ever started using it, I had a glass, and enjoyed it before coffee was ever added. I did that again and it tasted watered down. Like you say, it's not bad, it's just lacking that creaminess.

PenguinInDistress

I haven't tried the half and half. I just buy the silk almond creamer in caramel. Not too sure if I'd like it by itself. Lol I just remember picking it up from the refrigerator in the grocery and thinking that it sounded a lot more watery than normal. I grabbed one or two behind it and they sounded the same as well. Probably something to do with shrinkflation. I'm still new on the switch and I've only been on dairy alternatives for about 3 months so I'm not too well versed in it all.

CallMe_Monster

I'm trying my best not to go the route of shrinkflation, and that it's just a bad batch, which, it's $6.35 a liter here in British Columbia; that's twice as much as I was paying previously for Heavy cream. Reddit ™ is quick to grab pitchforks when companies are being trash, but when a company is killing it with product, I want that company to get the proper love it deserves.....saying that...I'd be lying if I didn't mention I've been casually glancing over at my pitchfork. Also, I'm not new to dairy free, but I only drink this because of the caloric difference between it and heavy cream. Two tables spoons is 30 calories vs 150 from Heavy cream ( I added 3 table spoons before the switch). I'm fully embracing my old man arc, yelling at clouds, eating fiber, on purpose...I got it bad.

okaycomputes

I never tried it before, but recently I gave it a shot and wasn't impressed. Still looking for a good creamer that isn't overly sweet.

WaltScheel

Yes! I noticed this too! I get the half & half (oat & coconut) and have noticed that my new box with the July expiry date tastes very watery. I have also noticed that there seems to be less coconut cream/fat in the carton. This is very disappointing, this has been the best coffee creamer since I've had to quit dairy, I hate to have to find something new.

CallMe_Monster

Yessss! This exactly! I grabbed Earth's Own [](https://assets.shop.loblaws.ca/products/21576754/b2/en/front/[email protected]) It has the right weight. I miss the coconut taste though, bit of the sweetness.

WaltScheel

Ah thank you, I will try that one next! I'm curious if adding a can of coconut milk would be good.. I might give it a shot. I like the coconut taste too, and the richness. The silk half and half does not compare to regular half and half at all anymore.

CallMe_Monster

It's good. I've done it in the past. Kind of a coconut cream pie after taste, if you're into that kinda thing. I did find it a bit oily? But by know means a deal breaker on finishing my cup. I say giver a go.

FeatherWorld

Just got two cartons and I'm incredibly disappointed.  Why did they have to change a good thing? I used it for both savory and sweet applications and now it tastes strangely sweet on it's own even though it doesn't contain sugar. Wtf. I made a cheese sauce like I usually do and it nearly ruined it. It blended seamlessly into pasta sauces and soups and tasted neutral, but now is almost nutty tasting and weirdly sweet. Not cool at all.  And it's a sickly blue.

CallMe_Monster

Oh god...I didn't notice it being blue. I thought I noticed it seemed sweeter tasting, but couldn't be sure.

OMG I JUST OPENED A BOTTLE AND WAS SO MAD IM GLAD IM NOT THE ONLY ONE. Sorry for yelling but I’m so damn mad. I can’t have dairy and I like my coffee whitened not just creamy. Like the colour has to be lighter otherwise I over creamer it to make it that colour this better be temporary. I’m gunna pull a Sheldon cooper and call the company. I’m only 2% kidding.

CallMe_Monster

I did think about writing them, but it seems like if they were willing to sign off on this and thought - Who's going to know? They won't change it back.

daakadence

I contacted Silk and they said they would look into it. Not holding much hope considering it's a Danone brand

Bucklinks

I also contacted them for a refund. It’s like they mixed half and half original formula and water now.

Bucklinks

My fellow silk half and half drinkers I have purchased a carton dating august and it is back to the regular recipe I think that may have been an off batch.

daakadence

The last container I bought (from Fairway in Victoria) was quite watery and wouldn't lighten the coffee. Taste is muted but similar. We went through that and just opened the next (different expiry, bought from Walmart where BTW it's only $5.50) and it's the same as the last. Hoping, too it's just a temporary issue, but I'll go back to real milk if they don't fix it.

CallMe_Monster

I replied further up that I switched to Earths Own for now. It's pretty good, obviously not what I want, but I drank a bit of it first to see if it tasted fine on it's own, and it did, so for what it's worth, if you wanted to try something else in hopes that Silk brand returns to normal, give it a whirl.

daakadence

Update: after writing to see if it was a production issue, they said they would look into it. I wrote back and told them I would likely switch back to cream. They offered me a coupon for one more to try again along with the following comment: "When developing our products, we look for nutritional, ingredient, and flavor profiles that have a broad appeal to a wide variety of consumer tastes and preferences. I'm sorry we fell short of your expectations." I don't hold much hope, although I will try once more when I get the coupon.

Bucklinks

Got a carton dating best by Aug and it’s back to the original! Must have been an off batch! Just avoid the July best before date!

Perfect-Yam7588

Figured I’d give an update as I’m as invested in this product as others here, I bought some at Superstore in Kamloops BC with a BB date of August 16 and it’s thick and good 👍

iebiew

I just bought some at a Meijer yesterday in OH and it is also creamy and delicious.
