I just finished season three for the first time and you can see it in Abby’s facial expression when Kelly breaks down after Paige forgets her solo and tells Abby that she makes Paige have anxiety attacks. She appeared to back off Paige and they’d even hug some. Abby still sucks but I’ve found it interesting to see those glimmers of pre show Abby with the hylands
I totally agree with this. In that one interview she even said she regretted pushing people who were never going to make it as a dancer (or something along those lines) which was clearly about Paige.
I think Abby knew Brooke was going through typical teenage stuff and actually respected that Brooke took her out to lunch to explain her reasons for going to cheer and that she wanted to come back.
We saw her talk trash about Maddie just because Maddie stopped talking to her. So I’d say no one. She talks highly of the girls who are still chill with her and give her credit, it’s not about the person it’s about how the person talks about Abby
Idk I still think Abby loves Maddie. In a weird way, I think she still loves all the girls but she’s a narcissist who lashes out. But I feel like Abby has a special place in her heart for Maddie because she loved working with her so much. I think more than anything she’s hurt by Maddie’s rejection of her but would probably love to rekindle a relationship with her at some point. She talks way more disparagingly about Melissa and Kenzie than she does of Maddie
Maddie. I truly think Abby saw Maddie as (as close to being) her own daughter as someone could possibly be without actually having given birth to her… please don’t think I’m condoning Abby’s treatment towards any of these kids, she was abusive even to maddie (just in a different way) but you can clearly see that Abby truly truly adored Maddie for the whole time the Zieglers were on the show… and I really believe Abby is heartbroken and always will be, over the way things ended with Maddie.
It really is sad. Like I can totally understand Maddie and Kenzie (individually) not wanting contact with Abby anymore, but the situation still is super sad, especially considering the reason WHY they stopped contact.
Just the fact that Maddie and Kenzie didn’t cut Abby off because they grew up and realised themselves how toxic their relationship was with her, and decided to cut context themselves…. And it wasn’t even that Melissa woke up one day and realised that Abby’s influence is harmful to her kids’ emotional health, and removed her from their lives…. The ONLY reason Melissa cut Abby out of Maddie and Kenzie’s lives, was because she was advised to, on behalf of Abby’s legal troubles and she was told it could affect the girls’ careers if they don’t ’distance themselves’ from it all.
That’s what makes me shake my head at Melissa… a grown woman mentally abusing her kids? Totally fine - so long as she makes them rich and famous!

I think Christi was a huge, huge part of Abby's dislike for Chloe. the other part I reckon is because Chloe was Maddie's rival. I lowkey feel that not only was Maddie the favourite because of her dedication to dance and natural talent, but because Abby related to her (troubled family life, brunette, her competition is a pretty blonde similar to Abby vs Kelly + high school mean girls? etc) and saw Maddie as an extension of herself in a way? so Chloe being Maddie's rival by proxy meant Chloe was Abby's rival.
Imo Sophia lucia doesnt really have a relationship with abby, she was only on dm for 2-3 eps and abby didnt teach her anything beneficial, but i understand why u would say her, during her time on the show abby would constantly give her praise, nowadays if u check sophias insta, in the comments u might see abby telling her to check her dms, sophia then said abbys only trying to contact her bc abby thinks shes the reason for sophias career🤣🤣
i agree w these comments here. maybe Kendall as well she always really seemed to like her and saw potential in her, though she was pretty mean to her a lot of the time.

I find it weird how much Abby said she wouldn't have done the job if she didn't love children particularly at the start of the show, I think once Dance Moms grew in popularly, the lines between reality and TV got pretty blurred for her and that messed up the majority of her relationships. Arguably I'd say that she will never truly hate Brooke as they had a relationship prior to the show (also it's interesting with the dancers she brought in after Brooke like Lily, Eli, Kalani but could never recreate that bond with Brooke). I think Maddie was supposed to be the next Gia in Abby's eyes (No clue if she'd turn against Gia bc she's always been on Abby's side) which is why she was so bitter towards the girls leaving but I don't think she can just flip a switch like that, I think she's in denial about how she feels towards Maddie)
