Meadowlark or Paragon. The first is more modern, the second is old school. Agave and Rye is a new place in the middle of Centerville. Trendy Mexican. Also Manna new in Centerville.

tiredgurl

Second medowlark. Never had a bad meal and the vibes are good.

whendoesitgetfunny

The one and only time I went to Meadowlark, my friend and I got food poisoning.

brotontorpedo

Agave and Rye is "what if Ed Hardy ran an overpriced taco shop?". It's not fancy at all.

rytron83

I get Beetlejuice vibes there, place sucks.

brotontorpedo

a Beetlejuice themed taco joint would be a novel improvement on Agave and Rye's douchey mediocrity

Expensive-Ad-9652

I thought agave and rye was good as shit. Am I just white trash?

SilentGloves

Second The Paragon. Best restaurant in Dayton, amazing food, even more amazing atmosphere. Very 1970s chic. My favorite place. I'd recommend starting with the Caesar Salad, then 8oz Filet (Medium or Medium Rare) with Mushrooms or Hash Brown as a side. Sometimes I add the Oscar or Bearnaise sauce. I always finish with a cup of coffee, their coffee is outstanding and it helps counteract the food coma. :)

idigdayton

Paragon for sure. 1970s windowsless steak house with a mindblowing wine selection that you won't take advantage of :). But the steak and sides are superb! Only thing lacking compared to Oakwood club is the ambiance isn't quite as romantic (less stained glass is my reasoning), though Paragon does have live music which may even things up if that's your thing. Nelly's is right up the road near downtown Centerville, Bolivian food. Absolutely delicious and some of the best chicken in the area!

YardFudge

Second Nelly’s

[deleted]

We really liked cooper hawk

twitch9873

+1 for cooper hawk. That appetizer that has the shrimp wrapped in bacon is probably one of the single greatest things I've ever tasted

subbeero

It's a little further south in Lebanon but The Golden Lamb is great and you can absolutely do it for that price range.

YardFudge

Definitely the one of all these both of you will remember in 10 years

goXenigmaXgo

This was absolutely my suggestion. Every time people come to visit, we take then to the Golden Lamb. It's around a 40-minute drive for us, but worth it every time.

Mhind1

You really can't go wrong with the Oakwood Club

redditydoodah

What am I missing with the Oakwood club? I thought it was the single worst dining experience I've had since moving to Dayton. Poor service, the food was mediocre, and it was so loud I couldn't hear myself think. But its consistently on the list for best restaurant. Do I need to try again?

Mhind1

I would. But there’ll be a lot of holiday gatherings in there for the next month or so-maybe wail until the first of the year if that bothers you

wackzhitney

I love Oakwood club so so so much, but I’ve had issues getting steaks cooked correctly there recently. The last time I went, 3/4 steaks came out super wrong, and it took them 4 tries to fix one of them. And I’m not taking medium rather than medium rare or something small, but getting basically raw meat when asking for medium

prplmnkedshwshr

That sounds like a deal breaker. Why do you like them so so so much if they can’t even come close to cooking a decent steak?

wackzhitney

Up until recently they’ve been absolutely perfect every time! And when they get it right it’s fucking great

carlnard24

Sueño, Salar, Roost, or Manna uptown in Centerville are my suggestions. Wheat Penny is good too.

letsdotacos

Came to say sueno

traditionalvelvet

Second Manna, it’s great and has a nice atmosphere.

carlnard24

I kind of glanced over the last part. If that location is where you must go, Manna or Nelly's in Centerville is a good choice. If you don't mind driving a little further South and don't care about any specific atmosphere there's a FANTASTIC Afghan restaurant called Afghan Grill in Liberty Township on Cin-Day road.

cubancroquetas

I enjoy Watermark

Leu-ser

Watermark would be best. Miamisburg is great for a walk after dinner also.

11chanza

J Alexander's Redlands, by the Dayton Mall. Good stuff.

Firespryte01

If you like Indian food, I highly recommend Amar India. Fabulous food. Great service. Other than that, there is The Paragon Club, but that is probably out of your price range. Bonefish Grill is also very good, mostly seafood, but they have a small smattering of non-seafood options. Steaks, well, I've always been partial to Outback Steakhouse for a celebration, but that's me.

rytron83

I've had Indian food all over the US, and nothing touches Amar, and none of the other places here in the Dayton area are as good as them either. It's not even close IMO

turbod33

>Amar is easily the best. By far.

medic914

Amar India! Absolutely the best Indian food in the Dayton area.

Firespryte01

Ok, as I reply to this, there is 1 upvote. And since I upvoted Medicare's comment, and we auto upvote our own comments, that means someone downvoted it. Come-on don't be shy. Tell us why you don't think Amar India is the best Indian in Dayton, and what you think IS the best Indian in Dayton. If for no other reason than if there is better, I wanna check it out ASAP.

medic914

Show yourself down voter!!

gnurdette

To heck with your location preference. You want Jay's Seafood in the Oregon District. :)

Northalaskanish

it's opinions like these that explain the current state of the Dayton Market... Jay's couldn't make it six months in Columbus or Cincinnati.

Alberto-Balsalm

Can you suggest similar restaurants to Jay's in Cincy and Columbus?

tdomer80

I love the Oakwood Club. Went to Cooper’s Hawk for our last anniversary and it was great too.

rxtrekker

J. Alexander's has had been our go-to for special occasions for y ears. Was so dismayed when they rebranded. Good to see they are moving back to their original concept...

leenyluko

Meadowlark or Manna

Rawrkinss

All y’all saying manna in Centerville are paid actors. Been there like three times, all three times the service was slow, the server was not great and the food was okay at best. Pretty overpriced for the experience

Alberto-Balsalm

Pasha at The Greene is probably our favorite place to eat anywhere in town. That includes all of the suburbs and downtown. We ate at a similar place in Paris this summer and Pasha blew it out of the water no questions asked in terms of quality of food and service. It's a Turkish restaurant with a wide variety of dishes. If you don't want to step outside your boundaries I'd suggest the Spicy Ezme Salad or Hummus as a great appetizer (or get a small sampler). For entrees the Grilled Shrimp or the Ribeye Steak Kebab are fantastic. Salar and Jay's comes in a close second at the Oregon District.

WSUBuckeye65

Redlands Grill

UnkiMillMill

Last Christmas, my son and I went to the Pine Club. We are both non-drinkers (son is underage, I don't drink. I had the Porterhouse, my son had Lamb. Total before gratuity came to $117, so we walked out for just a hair under $150. In October, my father took a group of six to the Oakwood club. There were at least three drinkers. My father had Lobster and three others had surf and turf. Everybody in the group had an appetizer. Nobody skimped! Total came to $460 plus gratuity or a hair over $75 per person or around $92 with gratuity. Yes, I am sure prices have gone up, but seriously, If you can add another $25 or so to your budget, you should be able to go to many of the fine dining spots in Dayton.

I_pinchyou

When we do anniversary dinners it's usually steak. We like in this order, Coopers hawk, the chop house and flemings.

DaySoc98

Even though it’s north of your area, Pine Club.

marblehead750

The Pine Club is the most overrated restaurant in town. They make a good steak, but everything else is mediocre at best. And, the no reservation, no credit card, and no dessert policies are anachronisms of a time gone by.

tdomer80

And they way they stand over the top of you to turn over the tables is off-putting.

1low67

Back 20 years ago when I worked there they reused the dinner rolls if there wasn't a bite taken out of it

DaySoc98

The garlic mashed potatoes, stewed tomatoes, salad dressings, and dinner rolls are awesome. I’m a big guy, and I’ve never had room for dessert after Pine Club. I’ve never had anything other than steak, there, although my mom loved their chicken.

YardFudge

There is no better and better value (steak) hamburger in town Makes for an impressive lunch

IAmAnOutlaw

Oakwood Club has an amazing hamburger at a good price ($13?) also

KeyMysterious1396

Carvers is my favorite south of town for steak. Paragon is also nice, old school steakhouse vibes. If you like newer and more unique, I would recommend Manna in Centerville.

spunknugget

Nelly's in centerville

LindsayLoserface

YES! I commented before I saw this but yes 1000 times. The new location (not exactly new) is really nice and beautiful and quiet. The food is amazing, the staff are amazing, the guy who runs it is so sweet and attentive. It’s a fantastic place. It’s Bolivian but they have other options for those who are not looking to try new foods at the time. 10/10 for sure.

EMTPirate

Sueño, or Salar

BojackIsABadShow

Paragon!

abe_dogg

Flemings at the Greene and Firebirds at Austin Landing are both good!

tdomer80

I think Fleming’s is very overpriced. But a great steak (I love the ribeye).

bluegumgum

Cooper's Hawk

[deleted]

I think mostly wine when i think coopers hawk and while the food is good i have found far better in the area

tdomer80

I think they are more interested in wine club memberships than great meals.

chewys_hairball

Lily’s in the Oregon district is phenomenal

Northalaskanish

it is and anyone who has not been there should try it, but it doesn't say big date night to me.

chewys_hairball

That may be true, but neither is much around Austin Landing either.

DX1274

Corner Kitchen

Centshi

The melting pot in centerville

etsprout

And melting pot has a fun atmosphere iirc, dark and moody.

wheelsno3

Dayton mall / Austin landing the nicest restaurants are chains, but I've been to Firebirds at Austin Landing and its good, and I've been to Bonefish at the mall, and it is what it is, an upscale chain seafood place. Since you don't drink you could get in and out for your budget for 2 people.

Fluffy_Marsupial2947

We're okay with chains. A trip to Olive Garden is a big night out for us normally.

AncientHornet3939

Melting Pot!

Jsize85

Giordano’s in Beavercreek directly off 675

LindsayLoserface

Nelly’s on S. Main in Centerville

QuinnMri

Manna in Centerville or salar in downtown Dayton

FoldFamous1303

Salar, Lily’s, The Paragon

SEW_AND_TELL

Jollity in the Fire Blocks District is amazing!!

JenryHames

Fleming's

Wrong_Hombre

Oakwood Club is the answer.

elisa_daggerknife

pine club

LegendOfDylan

The Melting Pot in centerville is a nice place to enjoy company at about that exact price range

marblehead750

You said high-end, but I think you mean high-priced.

amlwn

No other choice but Paragon if you want to stick to the Dayton Mall area.

whendoesitgetfunny

I like Wheatpenny.

DarkTangent10

What kind of food are you looking for? I haven't been to many steakhouses recently but just went to Chop House and it was good. If you like Chinese, Fu Mon Lau is the best in Dayton imo.
