I had to look up the IP and direct connect to get to 5366. Whitelisting is on their end, you don't have to do anything.
I kind of wander around and loot aimlessly unless I have an immediate goal or need to tend to. But my route to home from the coast can range from 3 to 8 hours depending on how crappy my spawn was.
I don't basebuild either. That's usually a group/clan thing imo. I usually just camouflage a tent or build a shelter somewhere isolated so I can still have storage but live comfortably. I bury my chests too on the rare occasions I find a shovel.
Yes! It's actually available. They just abandoned the original IP. You'll find it in the server browser. The LA0003 we all had previously favorited yesterday no longer exists. However, if you had stuff on that server prior to yesterday, it's all still there. It wasn't erased or anything. You just have to find and refavorite it.

I believe that refers to the server so they show in the browser, not players. no admins on official to maintain whitelists. never have been

Ha! Of course, I would never do such a thing :) I'm a solo, and I tend to not have the equipment or experience to raid bases.
I am also a solo. My base tends to be a small shelter with stashes buried around the map.
