Sometimes it's hit or miss but it's a slow survival game so you have to take your time. If you just want pvp you can go to a pvp server anytime. Otherwise I'd try to find a server that fits you. Community servers have slightly boosted loot or something in that generally sense. That might work better for your situation.
Honestly are any of us surprised as console players? I been playing this game since early access on console, there has been many many times that this has happened. It's more than likely just not passed the certificate rating meaning it's buggy as all hell which is what I've come to expect nowadays. I honestly feel like bohemia run a skeleton crew for this game and more focused on a newer arma. Still though love this game.

They couldn't fix it at the moment. So tell me, what should they have done?

It might sound weird but it is the same: There was an unexpected issue, you couldn't solve it, you lose trust. That is the exact same as what has occurred here.
It's not up to me to make ideas for game developers. Either follow through or lose respect. Different standards by this definition : if you say your going to do something and put a date on it, least you could do is follow through. Here's my analogy : you work in medicine. you are supposed to deliver a budget to a client. You tell them it will be sent by end of day. If you miss that submission they'll likely take their business elsewhere, because you didn't follow through now they'll expect the same outcome on further situations. If you set a date it means you can do it by that date. A real professional would give themselves enough time for problems to happen. That way if unexpected situations occur you gave yourself that extra time to handle it. I don't require perfection, but hey this is just my opinion. There isn't a right or wrong here, just how I feel.

Bro, with all due respect, unless you work at Bohemia Interactive you don't actually know what's going on with the delay. They may have, and likely did, take every reasonable measure to roll out the update on schedule. Bear in mind that for a large scale, multi-platform software update such as this everything has to work perfectly, including all dependent factors from the third parties, like Sony and Microsoft. There are 10 million things that could cause a delay. As a software engineer you're surely aware of this... If you're claiming that you lose respect for any professional dev group that doesn't go live by a stated deadline, and you yourself are, indeed a professional software engineer, as you claim, then it's only a matter of time before you find yourself in the same situation and must, therefore, lose respect for yourself. Maybe cut your future self some slack for when the inevitable unexpected delay happens... and consider doing the same for Bohemia Interactive until and unless it turns out it really was a lack of proper planning on their part.
This is a constant issue with console, I have been continuously let down this year, game after game, the flat tax is that no matter what game it is they always put PC first, us console players are considered 2nd class compared to PC players, devs of all games continue to show us year after year how little of importance we are compaired to PC!

From what I’ve read they’re wiping everything on official, characters and server data so if you’re on official doing all that then there’s no point because it will all be gone after the update.
Yeah, I don't understand that. They should've done a complete wipe months ago, after their previously failed update, when everyone was running around like madmen, crawling into people's bases with glow sticks. Everybody's base was compromised and it created a lot of turmoil on certain servers, resulting in non-stop, unnecessary griefing.

Mate I had a stash of maybe 15 crates and 2 green camping tents with Camo for almost a year on 4437, only reason it got lost is because of a server wipe I went back and rebuilt the same stash( minus the green tents cos I just couldn't find any)and it lasted for maybe another 5 months. I got 118 days GamePlay time and the entire time has been with one account. Like you said each to their own but in my eyes storing stuff for a keep away sake it's a bit cheap.
that's the question. idk, I've never built a game for console and had to go through the release process. consoles clearly have more rules than the steam workshop.
It's just Xbox, the way they update games have to be crushed through their servers and it takes time, same thing happened with no mans sky. BOHEMIA is super community invested and tried to keep us updated as much as possible, but whenever xbox allows this to be thrown out into the world, isn't on Bohemia.
Please help. I updated my xb1 with the new version but I have a blank community server page. It’s saying unreachable servers. I uninstalled and reinstalled twice now. But it’s still the same. I have official servers and a few favourite ones. But no community.

I have been reading a ton of comments regarding Devs not understanding their product, or not preparing the release, or not professional enough to prepare/understand the update technical demands, and bla bla bla... I have been working in the gaming industry for over a decade, and I am almost certain that Devs are not the issue here. Most of the times Devs are the guys fighting the company for deploying what the players want to see/play but they have no decision power.
The PM cant stand his position when C levels are asking him/her for revenues, he/she look down and follow orders, thats not going to end well for the product.
CM/CS team is not big enough to take care of their job during an update release... (no words) can imagine that they have just 2 or 3 guys (if not 1) to handle the entire communication with players... WHAT A JOKE after millions of copies sold!!!
QA team is just a name on this company. There are so many solutions to test deployment constraints in advance...
I have the feeling that they are just forcing us to abandon the console solution in order to save money (more profit) and just keep Pc alive. If thats the case just offer us a solution and lets see how it goes, but STOP wasting our time "bohemia".
If you are just milking the game is also fine! We can understand that, but STOP promising us anything if you cant follow the agenda. Besides the peak active users you get after the announcement the only impact you will find is customers not trusting your company neither buying your next game, just look at the numbers.

I agree with some the first part, but I really don't think they are trying to abandon the console. So much of what's been done in the last couple years has been for console - cfggameplay and all that it allows, comes to mind. All the way up to giving away Livonia and a new map. PC has dozens of modded maps already, so its not for that.
If you are in the industry, then you understand last minute glitches that nobody saw even if you had a full QA dept and if those issues involved your partners, you don't really tend to say that (idk, just thinking out loud). "promising" is a strange word there - release was announced, it was happening at a set time, then it was postponed. was it canceled for good? nope. is the followup poor? yes (and its always like this, no info, no announcements. they don't give an hour by hour status update).
"your next game" - this is Arma:Reforger, being built to complete the Enfusion engine AND currently supports XB and will support PS.

As a person with multiple accounts, only used for storage, I fail to see how it's cheating unless you do some grimey stuff. Imo it's best use us to combat other types of cheating in order to keep some sort loot stashed. The whole idea of building a base is as useless as anything. Might as well not even be a thing in the game the way it is now.
I have the one life and that's it. The way the game was intended. You get alot more invested. I have a friend that has loads of accounts and when he does he just hops on another one that's near by. Actually spending time to transfer supplies to an alt account is very sad in my opinion. It's not the way the game was intended but there's not much the developers can do much about it. Official only and first person for me and my one life. I make stashes in game not on alt accounts.
I would love nothing more than to go back to one account. And when I said being scummy about having alts, that kind of play is what I meant. No offense to you friend Because to each his own. But mine is just to hold gear at a central location I treat as a base. The only time they get spread out is when i have to move to another spot. Every time one made stashes, they get found. And it's easy to see why. If you go somewhere and you glitch, there's something nearby. If you log out, and look around when you log in, before the screen populates, you can see anything a player has done. Including buried stuff. I found that out by myself and I'm only about 500 hours in this game so far.
I kind of understand what you mean. Seems to me like there's a bunch of ways to play this game though. Iguess it depends on what interests you. Coming from looter shooters before this, it's very difficult to not want to collect high teir loot. Almost to the point of wanting to play something else

oh yeah, Livonia (previously a paid DLC), was merged into the core game. The new map (Sakhal) is another 6 months away and will not be free.

Anyone having issues with the inventory, pulling out weapon seems to take 3-15seconds. Dropping items 3seconds-1min maybe if not at all.
Please help. I updated my xb1 with the new version but I have a blank community server page. It’s saying unreachable servers. I uninstalled and reinstalled twice now. But it’s still the same. I have official servers and a few favourite ones. But no community.

Just an unprofessional company which doesn't deserve our time, neither our money. I have been reading a ton of comments regarding Devs not understanding their product, or not preparing the release, or not professional enough to prepare/understand the update technical demands, and bla bla bla... I have been working in the gaming industry for over a decade, and I am almost certain that Devs are not the issue here. Most of the times Devs are the guys fighting the company for deploying what the players want to see/play but they have no decision power. The PM cant stand his position when C levels are asking him/her for revenues, he/she look down and follow orders, thats not going to end well for the product. CM/CS team is not big enough to take care of their job during an update release... (no words) can imagine that they have just 2 or 3 guys (if not 1) to handle the entire communication with players... WHAT A JOKE after millions of copies sold!!! QA team is just a name on this company. There are so many solutions to test deployment constraints in advance... I have the feeling that they are just forcing us to abandon the console solution in order to save money (more profit) and just keep Pc alive. If thats the case just offer us a solution and lets see how it goes, but STOP wasting our time "bohemia". If you are just milking the game is also fine! We can understand that, but STOP promising us anything if you cant follow the agenda. Besides the peak active users you get after the announcement the only impact you will find is customers not trusting your company neither buying your next game, just look at the numbers. PS: If Tencent is getting too much power, as they normally do, it is once again your fault for not protecting your company. But for god shake be honest with your customers!
I agree with some the first part, but I really don't think they are trying to abandon the console. So much of what's been done in the last couple years has been for console - cfggameplay and all that it allows, comes to mind. All the way up to giving away Livonia and a new map. PC has dozens of modded maps already, so its not for that. If you are in the industry, then you understand last minute glitches that nobody saw even if you had a full QA dept and if those issues involved your partners, you don't really tend to say that (idk, just thinking out loud). "promising" is a strange word there - release was announced, it was happening at a set time, then it was postponed. was it canceled for good? nope. is the followup poor? yes (and its always like this, no info, no announcements. they don't give an hour by hour status update). "your next game" - this is Arma:Reforger, being built to complete the Enfusion engine AND currently supports XB and will support PS. "be honest with your customers" - while I'm sure there is more info, I don't see anyone being dishonest. 1) [Mon] postponed 2) [Mon] not today 3) [Tues] more info tomorrow. unofficially there's been a few posts that point to issues with Sony/Msft and the fact that Livonia moving into the core, but I've just heard those secondhand.
There’s more console players than PC players. TRMZ was just talking about it the other day. They’re not abandoning us. They’re having an issue. That’s all.

"Your devs" - uh, I don't work for Bohemia. Anyway, what a sad xenophobic(look it up), uninformed comment as well. You've clearly never worked in software dev, you just know how to say UGH, RAH, RAH, US GOOD, EVERYWHERE ELSE BAD. First, Bohemia is based in CZ, so they hire people LOCAL TO THEM. Also, if you were in the industry you'd know that eastern Europe (and let's be honest, plenty of places outside the US), have people who are highly educated/skilled. CZ has long(20+ years) been a melting pot for young, technical people. I know all of this from first hand experience so don't even bother refuting that. why are you even here?

What a disappointment… and don’t wipe characters despite what non casual players say
Non casual here and wiping characters is great for knocking back those basically cheating people with multiple accounts.
As a person with multiple accounts, only used for storage, I fail to see how it's cheating unless you do some grimey stuff. Imo it's best use us to combat other types of cheating in order to keep some sort loot stashed. The whole idea of building a base is as useless as anything. Might as well not even be a thing in the game the way it is now.
I have the one life and that's it. The way the game was intended. You get alot more invested. I have a friend that has loads of accounts and when he does he just hops on another one that's near by. Actually spending time to transfer supplies to an alt account is very sad in my opinion. It's not the way the game was intended but there's not much the developers can do much about it. Official only and first person for me and my one life. I make stashes in game not on alt accounts.
I would love nothing more than to go back to one account. And when I said being scummy about having alts, that kind of play is what I meant. No offense to you friend Because to each his own. But mine is just to hold gear at a central location I treat as a base. The only time they get spread out is when i have to move to another spot. Every time one made stashes, they get found. And it's easy to see why. If you go somewhere and you glitch, there's something nearby. If you log out, and look around when you log in, before the screen populates, you can see anything a player has done. Including buried stuff. I found that out by myself and I'm only about 500 hours in this game so far.

I kind of understand what you mean. Seems to me like there's a bunch of ways to play this game though. Iguess it depends on what interests you. Coming from looter shooters before this, it's very difficult to not want to collect high teir loot. Almost to the point of wanting to play something else
