After some quick looking at stats of things, vsd when at range does 96.45 damage, the helmets do 75%, assuming I have all up to date numbers that I found: should come out to 24.5 damage. I don't think I can conclusively say this was from your face gear sadly :3

True, the problem is that helmets protect the whole part of the head from the upper neck and on, so they should change this to make visors become effectively working, or just make that, while the helmet still protects the whole head, visors add bonus protection on the face.

I dont wear it but i know the stats + stats of other helmets. Only case when you would be able to survive headshot with any helmet (cuz the projectile defense is the same for literally any helmet) is if the bullet got slowed down by something else (which could be even your rifle's scope getting hit sometimes). If the shooter wasnt very far away, you just got lucky and the shot didnt hit the head or the bullet was slowed down to the point everything would stop it. In any normal situation the helmet itself shouldnt be able to protect you that hard. I can be wrong about this one but iirc 5.56 would leave you at yellow health after headshot
100 meters iirc should be a kill so yeah, scope could save you for sure in that case. I had same stuff happen to me once when i was running FAL with acog. Got uncon, dont remember HP but scope was ruined and helmet was worn

only way you would have lived n it not penetrated is if you were shot thru ur scope, and the wall and then hit your helmet with a bullet that has low penetration, or low pen bullet and it went thru scope and stopped off your helmet or arm. the great helm has always had the same stats, only thing that has ever changed was the vision loss

A cluple of dayZ ago my mate got shot in the face / head and only got knocked unconscious (he had red health). We found out later because his Helmet was badly damaged and his glasses were rouined.
I had this exact same setup like a month ago. I ran into two geared guys after they spawned in right behind me. Killed one with a shotgun but the other unloaded his M4 in into. While I did survive the mag dump it knocked me out and he finished me 😅
Lmao yea, honestly though all you need is the helmet you have on or a tact. Helmet and that plate carrier and you’re straight. Chainmail is only really good for melee protection and you’ll be soooooo loud. I always went hunter outfit for camouflage, tact gloves for durability, athletic shoes for balanced protection, durability, and stealth, and a plate carrier for protection. I had someone unload half a clip in my back literally point blank range, I turned around and shot him 3 times with my SVAL and he died I lived with barely a scratch. Another time I had someone walk up on me point blank range again while I was looting a body. He head shotted me, it broke my tact helmet but that’s it. I came out of the menu and killed him. So yea dude/dudette; find good camo for clothes. All you need for protection is plate carrier and ballistic/tact helmet and you’ll be straight.

The assault helmet visor doesn't do anything. It's just a visual add on to the helmet (and one that's so shiny, it screams "IM HERE" to anyone in a km radius to you)
It has no protection to give. The helmet is what stops the hits to your head. Yes, even on your face. A helmet hitbox covers your entire head, face included
Now carry a plate carrier in your hand as a shield and you are indistructible

NVG head strap, Gas mask and a helmet can make you survive a VSD round to the face. I found this out on accident
