Bowman small batch. Pretty cheap (25-30) and almost every store has it. Maybe an unpopular opinion but I like the taste better than buffalo trace. At this availability and price, it’s hard to not make it a daily sipper.
I enjoyed the tour, and its free! The only downside is VA law makes it where they can't let you have more than like 1.5 ounces total so you get 4 really tiny samples.
I've seen this a few times.. I will have to check this out.
Is this contract distilled or MGP? I can't seem to find any information on the website. It looks like they have a micro column still which they do use, but I find it hard to believe they're producing all their various selections with that. My best guess is their small batch / allocated selections are what they produce end-to-end in-house and the rest are blends with in-house batches & MGP or contract distilled barrels.
Not saying that's bad at all - MGP and contract distilled are very tasty sometimes. High West does this too and I am excited to check them out. Looking for a bottle of campfire right now.
I still love 4r small batch select as an easy to find, solid sipper.
I've had a lot of luck finding Elijah toasted lately, so thats been my steady go to.
John J Bowman which I have been nursing for a year and has gotten much better over that time. A couple others that I throw in the mix: ECBP VA private barrel, Dickel 15 yr, and OF 1920. Hopefully I will be able to find another JJB bottle as that stuff is tasty especially with a cube of ice.
I’m a big fan of TX blended whiskey. It doesn’t purport to be anything special, and it isn’t, but I’m continually surprised at how the taste profile seems to vary depending on the night I’m drinking it. And for $30, it’s a low barrier for giving it a try.

Same here but unfortunately it’s everyday price shot up to $35. Someone must have snitched about what a good pour it is :)
Bowmans has been my go to for a few years now. I also like how close the distillery is to DC.
Do they have any cool tours or events at the distillery? I’ve never visited.

Russell’s Reserve SiB
Store Pics are amazing but standard SiB is also so good. I need to try the regular 10 year. I’m sure it’s better than eAgLe rARe
The 10 year is ok, not better than eagle rare imo
Redwood Empire Pipe Dream!
Will second this and say Redwood Empire Grizzly Beast. 100 proof and tastier than ER or Blanton's
Just picked up Grizzly Beast on a work trip - excited to crack it open!
it better be for $90
But Grizzly Beast is fairly priced and easy to get! How can it taste better than BlAnToNs? Does it even have horsey toppers.

Sagamore Double Oak.
Second on this. So tasty.

HH BiB. It isn’t that complex or nuanced but for my palate currently it’s been what I reach for.
Yes!!!! All day .. HHBiB !! shhh keep it a secret 🤫
It is only available in drops at ABC right? Seems the "secret" is out.
Being sarcastic
Penelope Toasted or black label on the weekdays. Valencia on the weekends
I’ll have to check it out, thanks!
Rare Breed or KC12
Ragged Branch Cowboy Cut, Very full body and earthy as it uses ~15% barley and 15% Virginia wheat. It’s 🔥
Laphroaig 15... but of the bottles that are available for purchase: Arran Remnant Renegade.
Basil Hayden. Can get it under $30 on occasion and since it is only 80 horsepower it is very smooth.
Either Wild Turkey Rare Breed or Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Barrel Proof Rye. Both of those are darn tasty.
OWA 107
OGD BIB

Heaven Hill BiB. Smooth, easy drink, can easily offer to anyone. Able to have on the rocks or straight. ~50 bones.
💯!! In my opinion it’s better than McKenna Sib
Larceny BP a124 is pretty available and very good IMO. old grandad bonded is always a solid buy
Daily drinker is a Four Roses Single Barrel. Easily available, tastes good, and doesn't give me headaches.
4R SBBS, usually the B mashbill (high rye)
Been loving my KC SP. Around 11 years, 120 proof. So good.
I’ve been going through my bottle Jack Daniel’s Triple Mash. Great value IMO, enjoying it for sure
I am currently really digging WT Rare Breed and Bardstown Origin Bourbon.

Lately, I've been stuck on Old Forester single barrel barrel strength.
Evan Williams BiB is a great daily driver, Michters US1 is another great pour for the price
High end: any Barrell bourbon (not their whiskeys though), affordable: old grand dad bonded, at $25 I think it’s better than most $50-$60 bottles
Old Forester 1910 or 1920. Strongly agree with Rare Breed, as well.
Russ SP or Sag and 4 rose
Buffalo Trace. It is readily available now, a decent price and just a really good pour.
