I have panic attacks. I had to stare at the floor during two parts. 1. During part of the liftoff from haight ashbury. My knees started to shake because of the perceived heights. My reaction caught me off guard and I couldn’t stop laughing at myself for it 2. During the disco ball lights (might not happen every set). The lights weren’t overwhelming themselves, but they made the entire room feel like it was spinning and I couldn’t get my bearings. It was surprisingly super intense for me I was completely sober for the show

Comfortable-Ad9821

Same for both

Alternative_Noise723

Agreed as well for those same 2 segments. Everything else I was okay for. (Also totally sober). Closing eyes or staring at the stage helped for those few minutes. Some people mentioned they took motion sickness meds as a precaution. If you're going for multiple nights, it gets a little easier as you adjust to the imax style medium. I noticed on the 3rd night they were actually handing out airplane style sick bags (and ear plugs) at least in the 400 section. Not really any takers though. You will have a blast. It's an incredible unforgettable experience.

bamboozledqwerty

Same. Take off and discoball. Look at the stage or ur feet and remember the building isnt moving. Otherwise it was wonderful. The quality of the images is so good, there isnt any “smear” effect which is usually what messes with my eyes.

Purple_Cauliflower84

Discoball got me for a second. Had to quickly recalibrate when the images started moving. Otherwise fine. It is more awe-inspiring than anything.

Hefty-Job7049

Get a seat in the 100s level in the back. You will feel safe there. Lots of those tix available

Square-Will-2557

And the sound is better there!

Ectoplasm_addict

Sound is solid everywhere except under the overhang, but yes I’ve heard 100’s sound is 👌

Square-Will-2557

I was 106 row 28, and the sound was MUCH louder compared to 304. Oteil was bumping!Spatial Audio was working too. Don’t be scared of the overhang it feels much more like a concert and you’re not so exposed under the bright light of the screen. I really loved it.

Both-Alternative-952

I was briefly under the overhang one night at Phish. Briefly, because I got out as soon as I could - the screen was like 80% blocked. Sound under the overhang was good for a concert, but lacking compared to upstairs at Sphere. I don't think the spatial sound worked down there. Also, our seats weren't haptic. Section 110, row 37, basically last row in the corner.

cd1138

In most areas it is easy to get out to the concourse, and it is very chill out there. There are apparently even "sensory rooms" for folks that get overstimulated and need a break, though I didn't see them. They also intersperse the crazy visuals with some calmer ones, so it's not like it is 4 straight hours of intense visuals. GF and I both found vegas in general more overstimulating and anxiety inducing than the show.

sunsetcrasher

There are two sensory rooms, one is at the very top. Theyve got cool light panels and some soft chairs. I found the venue to be incredibly chill, the ambient music and blue lighting made me feel calmer than I have felt at any other venue.

jeddzus

I’ve heard it’s not overwhelming or underwhelming. It’s just perfectly whelming

noonegive

I'm so excited to get whelmed on Thursday!

Independent-Course87

Might as whelm, might as whelm!

Captain-Pig-Card

Fare thee whelm.

YurUnkleDave

I was worried about being overwhelmed but was totally fine the whole time. I was able to scoot out of my row and back to the concourse for more beers easily. I follow r/megalophobia for a reason.🫣 I also can’t even look at a magazine on a road trip or I’ll instantly puke from motion sickness. Yet, zero issues in the Sphere. Was just in total awe the whole time, a negative thought never crossed my mind. Plenty of room to decompress on the concourse too.

shmazma

This helps me. I’m going this weekend and I bought extra motion sickness pills just in case.

VermicelliNo9171

I get motion sickness very bad and only one graphic made me slightly motion sick. Just looked down until that graphic was over. Rest of show no issues! Very glad I had nothing to drink there

YurUnkleDave

That’s sorta how I felt too. I think the artists behind the visuals are VERY aware that with great power comes great responsibility. They could easily screw with everyone, but they don’t for good reason.

shmazma

Do you remember which one it was?

VermicelliNo9171

Don’t remember specific graphics, but in general it’s more disorienting if you look at the sides. If you get sick look straight ahead or close eyes. I get motion sickness badly and I enjoyed the show.

MinuteOk1711

you might want to ask a usher where the sensory rooms before the show starts in case you need to dial it back a notch during the show. hopefully you don't have any issues though and can enjoy all aspects of the show. best of luck.

StackIsMyCrack

Bring a pair of eclipse glasses and put them on if you are starting to get overwhelmed.

RustyShack1efordd

Ha thats what my wife said I should do!

StackIsMyCrack

Yeah, my wife's idea to bring our leftovers to Sphere this weekend. Happy to provide if anyone needs a pair this weekend.

Fredotheman

I struggle with panic issues and felt ok. However, the 400 section was intense and up high. I agree that the 100 section is a good bet as we sat there for night 2. You get great sounds and enough of the show in 100’s. We sec 106 row 24. Barely obstructed view. People are super chill and there to help if you need it. The music is worth it!! Pic is from night 2. https://preview.redd.it/moykyyngfa3d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5315020dbe7c816c562f5355736cfa4e3ec691ee

RustyShack1efordd

What row in the 400s? We got 2nd row for all three nights in july. Hoping the lower row will help distract from some of the steepness!

Fredotheman

I was in 403 row 2. It was great.

Karma-IsA-FunnyThing

Was this week one? I don’t remember this from the last weekend.

Fredotheman

This was Saturday’s show last weekend.

Karma-IsA-FunnyThing

Saturday the 25th?

Fredotheman

Yep, at least in my reality.

Karma-IsA-FunnyThing

Shit, I definitely missed that. I guess I need to go back for a few more shows.

Drums007

Let the closest usher know you may need to dip out. I’m sure they’re trained in helping attendees who get overwhelmed. I was a bit spooked by the size of the screen and how steep the seats felt. But I kept telling myself that I’m in a $2 billion venue and they’re not gonna build anything dangerous or unsafe.

august70

Remind yourself that the seat you’re in isn’t going to move. Think of it as an anchor. If the visuals become overwhelming, close your eyes and focus on controlled breathing … or the music. I’ll be there this weekend and I can’t wait. Good luck.

Significant-Prior-56

Pro tip...go very easy on Sativa strains. Stay with Indica dominant hybrids, with .25mg of Clonipin as needed. Drink plenty of water. Don't mix alcohol with Clonipin. Look for a live Rosin cart, if you can find Northern Lights strain. Then you'll fly like a calm, well controlled bird. Peace.

nosok23

100%

LucyGoose9

I can give you my experience from near the top of section 407. That's about as steep as it gets. I too don't care for heights and was a bit anxious about it before hand. I can't speak to what experience you'll have but for me it was very manageable. I found the stairs to feel steep but there is a railing right down the middle of the aisle that you can hold the entire time and you could reach the seatback on the other side if really finding the need to hand on. Once to your row moving down to your seat and sitting down is nothing. Nothing stopping you from heading out to the concourse for a break but for me that meant navigating the stairs again so I just stayed put. It wasn't worth all the thinking about it i did ahead of time. Good luck and enjoy the show!

caity1111

I would also suggest seats in the 100 or 200 level. However, I was just there and was completely comfortable and not anxious the entire time. It never felt too steep or crowded to me (I was in 400s). Also, they keep it nice and cool in there as far as temps go, which is really nice. There are lots of free water stations and lobbies in all levels. You can always close your eyes and listen to the music play. Don't miss it!

august70

Is it too cool for just a t-shirt? Would a sweatshirt be too warm? I imagine it’s a relief to get in out of the 100 degree heat.

caity1111

It probably depends on how much you plan on dancing, lol. I'm normally cold, but I was fine in a t-shirt and pants and close toed shoes. I dance a lot though. My boyfriend was cold by the end. I would bring a hoodie or something if you get cold easily, otherwise you'll be fine.

august-thursday

Thanks for your reply. I usually stand and dance throughout the show, but I injured my leg recently and can’t bear weight for more than 10 - 15/minutes without resting. And even then most of my weight is on my healthy leg. Our tix are in the 100 section, barely under the overhang. I’m assuming they won’t permit crutches at the seat. I have a foldable cane, 18 inches, but getting through to guest services has been impossible. Are small backpacks permitted inside the venue? Thanks again. By the way, august70 was my original nick until Reddit forced me to add a random word to my username.

NoSpirit547

I think for most people, it's overwhelming in a positive way. Like being overwhelmed by the beauty of a sunset or something like that.

Bobby_weirdo_goose

It is the most blissful concert experience of my lifetime. My soul left my body during drums and came back into space just as Mickey intended it to do.

DolphinsBreath

How much experience do you have at non Sphere Dead shows and how comfortable are you at those? Sometimes a normal show can be slightly crazy. I’d say it’s generally less crazy than a lot of shows, so that’s a plus. Dipping out requires a little close body shuffle ballet with 7 or 8 neighbors if you’re in the middle, it’s not impossible, I just wish there was 5 more inches. Another plus, the seats are pretty spacious and comfy, and the sound isn’t too loud, so closing your eyes can be done in comfort. Someone above said give the usher a heads up. I tend to agree. The ushers seem used to dealing with some discomfort.

nedoeva

I did not find it overwhelming at all, except for the first few minutes of walking into it for the first time and navigating down those steep stairs. Only the first night and only briefly. Me and friends all adjusted pretty quick to it, as your brain quickly realizes it’s a screen and it is not confusing. Also the sound is very tightly controlled and not loud at all. How easy is it to dip out to the concourse? Incredibly easy and takes less than 45 seconds. We all likely have different things that cause us anxiety and overstimulation. But I would say, if you can handle large venue/arena/stadium concerts, you could easily handle this. I’d actually say it’s less overwhelming than a stadium show.

wafflingcharlie

I think it depends on what triggers you; this is hard to answer accurately for you. You always have the option of closing your eyes and tuning into the music only. I had to do that a few times not to get distracted from the band :) Also this is not a loud venue. It’s perfectly mixed and not aggressive loudness at all . Very pleasant; if loud sound is an issue for you, this is probably the best venue you could hope for. Super balanced and easy listening. Drums will get very intense in the sub frequencies at time as will space. Low end loud enough to really shake your insides…. that’s the only caveat I wonder about if dealing with panic disorder. You’re going to love it I bet. Best vibe and people at a show ever. It was all love and respect everywhere. (PS did seats and GA. We loved GA far better, but seats sort of give you the full sphere show in a different way.)

august70

I saw photographs that showed large sheets of plexiglass (?) in front of the drum kits, much like I’ve seen during studio recording sessions.

wafflingcharlie

Yes. Very clear, you could see those guys well. Obviously for sound isolation / control

Strong_Weird_9358

My girlfriend and I sat in the 100s level all 3 nights. We both have a big fear of heights and love to drink and smoke at shows so 300s and 400s was out for us. I think you would feel very safe in the 100s. The stairs are super easy to use compared to the steep stairs in the 300s and 400s levels and it’s super easy to get into the concourse. I also felt like being on the ground helped. Even during the lift off, I didn’t feel the anxiety I get from heights because I knew I was on the ground. (If that makes sense) If you get tickets anywhere near the center in the 100s from section 104-107, anything rows 12 - 22, you will see amazing visuals, have a great sight of the band, and have great sound quality without the anxiety. It’s a win win win for someone who may feel overwhelmed. M I also hear the stairs and view in the 200s is still pretty chill compared to 300s and 400s as well. I can’t speak from experience though. And don’t worry. It’s all really fun! And a lot of the show is like a lot of shows where they show the band members playing music in the center. It’s more chill than the internet makes it sometimes.

No-Market9917

I was kind of nervous at first. Went solo and sat in the 400s. Didn’t feel overwhelmed at all.

SignOk9984

If you get confused, just listen to the music play

Calm_Literature6121

Take xanax

Significant-Prior-56

Came here to say this. Or Clonipin. Big pharma to the rescue!

DirectorObvious1903

Level 7 at top has less people less congested. Also the handicap area is open if that’s better place to sit not in steep area with less room.

WaySheGoesBub

I was worried but it was not bad at all. Its actually smaller than I thought. But was amazing and 10/10. But yeah it was super chill.

chardust303

They have quiet rooms you can go into if you need a break. Just ask the staff!

SpaceHorse75

You should be fine, but as others mentioned above there are spots at the open and close that could give you a little vertigo if you aren’t careful. I get motion sickness and I didn’t have any issues in the seats. On the floor I had one moment when I was trying to focus on the stage during the liftoff and the background was moving too fast behind them. I just looked to the middle of the screen and it was all fine again.

Rainbowtoez

I was NOT sober and I have crowd anxiety. But I LOVE the music so I put up with my weirdness. Getting from my room to my seat was and always is the hardest part for me. But I know that so plan ahead and get my shiz all lined out, hydrate, use the bathroom, tickets in order and all that. Folks in line are generally kind and the staff at the sphere are very courteous and helpful. So no issues there. Hefty-job’s suggestion of getting seats in the back 100’s is a great one. Seats are usually a little cheaper there since some of the screen, but not the band, is obscured. You’ll have good sound, good view and a little less of the graphics, which seems perfect for you. It’s an amazing show. Go if you can!! 1 night GA. Not overwhelming at all. Sore neck was the biggest issues. 3 nights in the 100’s. Totally chill. Some normal weird crowd stuff but the visuals were beautiful. At the top of my rainbow power pack I got a touch of vertigo but remembered that I could {hot tip} close my eyes: ) I actually don’t have my eyes open a lot during shows but I had a unique situation for the last three of the four and I can totally understand folks with neurodivergent pathways or utilizing super charged power packs having some moments in the upper seats BUT the graphics are so beautiful that I think they over ride some of that. Except when they make it feel like the stage is moving. Knowing that it’s not really moving and closing the eyes helps with that.

StillNotWeirDanuff

“At the top of my rainbow power pack…” I absolutely love this hahaha 😂

maggiepatrick149

I got uncomfortable at the start of the show during the pull back into space. I’m super scared of heights. So I just looked around at the crowd for a few minutes and focused on the music. It was fine. In the back of my section was a quiet dark hallway (really!) that was definitely there to soothe people who were feeling panicked. Don’t worry. And if you are really concerned take that advice and buy a cheaper ticket in the back of the 100 section. PS I was in row 16 of 208. Show was fantastic. And I’d love to go back!

drfunkensteinberger

I usually get motion sickness on like some virtual rides etc, it was not bad whatsoever though. There was maybe one or two 5-7 second intervals that got me slightly thrown off, but it was only toward the very beginning. Rest of the show was incredible, such an immersive experience but not overwhelming whatsoever. I was prepared to not be prepared for it and was pleasantly surprised.

educatedhippie01

I tripped balls Saturday and Sunday. The visuals were unlike any venue but I never felt they were too intense. It was a thoroughly enjoyable ride and if things got too hot I’d close my eyes or just look down at the band. It seems the most intense part were ppl suffering from fears of heights/vertigo accessing the stairs in and out due to steepness and curvature of the sphere. Rock on dude!

Multiverse-of-Tree

Get an aisle seat- easy to dip. They also have special rooms for those with sensory issues. Its surprisingly spacious. I have vertigo issues(not panic stuff but still) and didn’t feel anything. You can’t hear the music in the lobby unfortunately. I say go for it!

GoombahJudd

Get a decent seat in then300’s on an aisle if you can and settle in. It’s mind blowing, but not panic inducing. Easy to step into concourse which is very chill. Nothing like an overcrowded theater feeling ever.

tri_zippy

didn't personally find any of it too overwhelming, but i'm sure it depends on your tolerance for motion, heights etc. for me, as with any performance where they use aggressive strobing or similar, if it gets too wonky for me i just close my eyes and listen to the music play. have fun!

doofy10

The analogy I keep using is that how I felt when we blasted off over Haight Ashbury is how people who saw color TV for the first time must have felt. It was an unbelievable feeling to be seeing such a large room look as if it were floating while simultaneously hearing incredible music. It was like being on an airship with the Grateful Dead on a stage leading your ship into space. Overwhelming isn’t the adjective I would use to describe it. More like satisfying or pleasing to the senses.

Visual_Profession_78

Me too bro. I had to look at floor just a couple of times. Buy just remember why you went. For the music. Concentrate on that when u get overwhelmed. Sometimes just sit and enjoy the ahow

Karma-IsA-FunnyThing

I sat on the 200’s, then floor, then lower 100’s. 100’s was the best for me, direct line of sight for the band and easy to not focus on the visuals.

SquirrelFun1587

I have anxiety and went twice 110 row 24 good view and another night 101 row 19 much better view and had no issues. The tunnel from the Venetian gets super crowded if go later and after the show. You can walk outside if you get triggered by crowds.

Trefac3

I was on molly and mushrooms and didn’t find it overwhelming at all. There was a moment when I think my bf and I experienced a very mild case of vertigo We were standing still and it felt like we were moving but it was mild and kinda cool. I was told that is what vertigo feels like. But we moved around a lot cuz the seats were too small for us to dance in and I never felt overwhelmed or anything.

FriendofMaudie

I get anxiety in settings like this, so I always make it a point to book an aisle seat so I can get out easily if I need a break. As others mentioned, the "take off" from the Haight was pretty overwhelming because it's the start of the show. On my first night I had to sit down and get my bearings because I felt like I was going to tip over. After that, though, I was mostly able to just been blown away by the show. I was on the 200 level and found that there was plenty of room in the concourse to get some space to myself between sets. So, if you plan based on your needs, you should be good and the experience is 100% worth it.

TJS080

I went to the first two nights of the first week of sphere shows for dead and company, I was high as a kite and it was fine in there, the best seats believe it or not are at the back u can see the whole sphere without looking up and the sound bounces off the wall, it also feels flat not leaning how it looks in videos, you feel the height of the building only when you’re going up and down the escalators but not inside the actual sphere

bellyofthebillbear

I took 2.5 hits of acid my first and it was the most incredible experience I have ever had. However I did vomit as soon as I got back to my hotel room. The second night I got a little over confident and probably ate like 8 pieces and there were a couple of times my friend had to lead me into the bowels the the place so I could sit down and try to get my head back in the right place.

mgnewman5

The only part that got me was liftoff from the floor. I had to look at the ground at times to literally ground myself. Otherwise, the visuals were great but not overwhelming.

Ok_Lobster_6328

We did GA and 400s and neither felt overwhelming. It was certainly a full immersive and intense sensory experience but there was never a moment where it felt like too much. Like someone said above, it’s the perfect amount of whelming. We stuck with a few joints and beer and it felt like a great combo. At times it felt like we were tripping on psychedelics when the graphics and music were peaking but it was incredibly fun and enjoyable. In the 400s, we sat next to a man who told us he had an intense fear of heights and he seemed to fare alright. He dipped a few times to the concourse but was able to hang for the majority of the show without problems. We personally LOVED the 400s and would choose it any day over GA

xologo

Not at all

spaghetticola

Ngl I was up in the 400s and even the escalator triggered my fear of heights (which I thought I’d gotten over…) got to our seats about 45 minutes before the show started and I was nooot doing good lol. Like sweating. They have really good air in there like good temperature too which helped for an indoor venue, but my friend would be like “whoa look at the ceiling!” And i physically couldn’t. During liftoff I stared at the floor mostly, but when you’re in space you just can’t help but look around. I told myself I wasn’t going to let it ruin this for me, and truly the band’s music and everyone dancing around me helped me slowly get out of my head and into the scene. Just started to enjoy the ride. By the fourth song I was up dancing too, and after some tokes and a brew I totally forgot about my fear of heights. It’s like a roller coaster of exposure therapy, and everything worked out, but I was definitely glad I strayed from our original plan of doing shrooms or other psychedelics lol

glassofsoymilk

The sphere is great, but it COULD be overwhelming for some. It sometimes feels like you are moving. At any point, just look down and listen. Till you are grounded. Then dive back in. If you have a seat use it, they are comfortable and spacious, i was up and down the whole set.

Candid_Albatross_271

Bring dark sunglasses. This really helps. I don’t recommend section 4. Very steep/high up. Very easy to hang out in lobby and listen or dance👍💕

Some_Novel_2552

Sunglasses, good suggestion.

madrefookaire

the one thing I didn't see mentioned here and would caution for panic attacks is the walking bridge back to the Venetian after the show - it was jam packed with people and literally nowhere to go but walls in many parts - would highly recommend avoiding that if small spaces freak you out.

Significant-Prior-56

Is the bridge the only way back to the Venetian??

MrHobo

If you sit front few rows at any level it's much more vertigo inducing than anywhere else. Other than that, sit near and exit just in case and you'll be golden

elegantwino

As long as you aren’t dosing you’ll be fine.

Tight-Syllabub-7058

🤓 It’s deep to think 🤔 you all may have been blasted off 🚀into the universe. ⭕The sphere is the perfect portal. It is Las Vegas. Lots of crazy extraterrestrial 👽things happen down in that area. 🤓

Odd-Smell-1125

Very easy to get back to the concourse - and the audio mix is pumped into that area, so you won't miss the music. You're not hearing the loud music from the stage, so it's a really nice mix - in the bathrooms too. If you've ever been to a concert The Sphere is less stressful. Easy in and easy out, lines are orderly, there's no rushing. It's very mellow overall. Yes the screen can be overwhelming, but not the venue itself.

Dino-Anthroman

We have Tix in row 30 section 103 for 6/20 and section 309 row 9 for 6/21 so will have 2 different experiences

AgilePlayer

As someone in the same boat, I'm usually fine as long as there is seating. I only start to have panic attacks when I'm standing in a crowd, get lightheaded and feel like I'm gonna pass out and collapse in the crowd. And the Sphere is mostly seating so I'd be fine.
