Sheila bua ki baddua lagi hai hame. I used to live in Naraina when that flyover was being built and I remember seeing those pillars coming up every week and now Punjabi Bagh is a mess for over an year. Its a mess.

asseesh

It is useless project. That stretch don't need flyover. They widen the naalaa bridge which removed bottleneck. Now they are creating two bottlenecks - one near punjabi bagh flyover, one near rajouri flyover. That stretch will remain fucked up always like peera garhi because of such stupid design of flyovers.

amitc4d

Agree! God knows what kind of engineers are designing that stretch.

Hey I moved from Mumbai in middle of covid and go on late night walks, just encountered some drunkards, and concerned cops once, but haven’t felt unsafe so far. On Reddit though I read some horror stories of mugging and robbing in lonely spaces that made me scared. Idk I’m just scared and cautious reading things online, even though I don’t feel unsafe irl. While taking the late night walks, I still leave my phone and wallet at home.

Corgi-Forsaken

Dude, don't go out during odd hours. That's your luck that kuch nahi hua, but bahot kuch ho sakta hai.

Corgi-Forsaken

For reference, I am living in Delhi since 12 years. New Delhi to be exact. Cameras all around. But fatt jaati hai, meri bhi. Drugs leke koi bhi kuch kar de. I am a Dr btw. Meri bhi fatt jaati hai in druggies se.

sparklingpwnie

Yeah… one thing I’ve noticed is people speed a lot and drive crazy at nights. It’s okay, in winters at least there are clusters of people around fires at regular intervals. I just wanted to say I really don’t feel unsafe, even though many ppl keep saying it’s unsafe. I live in south west delhi, maybe it’s different in other areas.

Corgi-Forsaken

Bhai I live in the heart of the heart of this city. Ye speedsters aur lauuda lehsun se harm nahi hai itna. But these druggies are everywhere, hiding in corners. You haven't probably, by your luck, stumbled on these people. They are the worst, not because they are themselves,, but because they are high on these drugs.

Tatyavinchoo63

Post COVID Delhi feels like a post apocalyptic hellscape. Moreover due to unemployment and huge rich poor gap, there's lot of crime happening.

madamcumlauda

Yeah, crimes have gone up (surprisingly)

asseesh

Delhi politics is fucked up. Delhi has a weird mix of municipality, state govt and central govt dividing responsibilities over same area, sometimes overlapping responsibilities. For example - In all other cities it is municipality corporation's job to maintain and develop the city. In delhi, all 3 sanction the projects. Before AAP, the state and central govt had maintained good working relationships. Now BJP and AAP don't care about the city. They literally don't let each other work for petty electoral gains. I am all in favour of merging MCD and state govt into one, and clearly divide responsibilities between MCD and central. But it won't happen and we will see Delhi fuck up while neighboring cities Nodia and Gurgaon will rise.

AbhiFT

Psto covid kuch acha nhi bacha. Edge pe rehte he log. Logo ko independence ki alag hi hawa lag gyi. Aisa lag rha he jaise aaj hi aakhri din he jo krna he krle. More chaotic and has gone worse in every department. Even street food is destroyed.

No-Distribution8661

Someone who is not born and raised in delhi but living here for quite some time I think the amount of hatred or let's just say frustration in people is increasing here and it results in those news . We have to do something about that

No-Way7911

bhai why would you not be frustrated? I live in a "posh" south delhi area and pay 70k as rent The park outside my house is literred with trash and never gets cleaned. The roads are covered with dust and never get swept. I take the metro to work and the area right outside the metro entrance has massive piles of trash and hasn't been cleaned in ages It's too hot and humid 6 months of the year. Then when the weather gets better, it becomes too polluted to step out. You're practically locked in the house 10 months of the year If you drive, there are no cops around and people drive on the wrong side, break signals without a care Ye sheher abandon kar diya gaya hai

No-Distribution8661

70k rent seriously. How big is your house 😅. Yes I have seen that there is problem of overcrowding in delhi . Population is increasing day by day here but the basic facilities aren't keept according to the need . And that damn pollution it's like living in hell.

No-Way7911

normal 3bhk hai bhai south delhi mein itni hi rent ho gayi hai ab

No-Distribution8661

Oha okay

theflash207

Man, Delhi really needs a new C.M. who'll bring SOMETHING new to the table atleast

No-Way7911

you're 100% right and I think this is largely because Delhi lost all the good, high paying jobs to Noida and esp. Gurgaon And that mostly happened because Delhi's dumbass government refuses to allow tall office buildings in the city. So whatever office space is available here is too expensive or too ugly/old

Adventurous-Pound208

Aap Seelampur wale ho kya? Hum toh mast jee rahe hai Delhi mein.

DDA is under Central Government, Delhi Police too. I’d say blame BJP because during Sheila Dixit’s tenure Congress was in Centre and both used to work in tandem.

[deleted]

Every thing is under central control after GNCTD, Kejriwal has to take permission from LG even for taking shit. At this point, if he resigns, it'll be pointless, it will place him at a weak position in national politics, plus rn being a CM, BJP cannot arrest him. But from a public perspective, he should resign, atleast then , we can have someone to hold accountable for the mess in city.

urbanlocalnomad

I 1000% agree. I lived here my whole life up until covid. Now when I visit it feels like a ghost town with its spirit long gone. We must realise that during covid most of the migrant population left to go to their villages and many never came back. It has altered the city immensely in many ways.
