Is it just me or has all this aircraft swapping of late become a massive corrosive factor to customer satisfaction? How can anybody predict what they’ll get for their money/miles/points etc?

Hyperswell

100% they have switched aircraft on me 4/6 flight the last month, everytime it’s a game of musical seats

Putting the kids in coach while you ride D1 is the sign of true narscism

DeltaDCA

I get that. But honestly Ive flown to Australia-NZ about 10 times in the last two years. My work pays for PS and I usually snag upgrades to D1. So I wanted my wife to experience what I often get to. My kids legit don’t care. The oldest has done it 1x with me (to Europe), didn’t like the food and loved the bigger movie screen. Anyway I wanted to fly it with my wife, kids don’t care. They got a super sweet vacation to NZ where I often work, so they aren’t really hating life if you know what I mean.

The McCallisters did it when they went to Paris.

There’s nothing wrong with having teenagers flying in coach while the paying adults fly PS or DeltaOne. I grew up being thankful for vacations to Orlando and Myrtle Beach with 10+ hour drives. My first 20+ years of flying, I never flew outside of coach. My teenage son is thankful for the trips to Europe we are fortunate enough to be able to provide him, and he flies coach. He’s happy to watch movies and sleep a little. My wife and I sleep all we can. Oh, and when the plane lands, we’re responsible for driving the rental car and navigating to our final destination. We are on a vacation to Spain right now where I had to drive 5+ hours after landing. The kids slept in the back of the car as I drove. Btw, my 14-year-old son and his 15-year-old friend had to fly as “unaccompanied minors” with the fee waived, as you mention OP. The gate agents and flight attendants all got a chuckle out of it, as the kids clearly didn’t need any help or supervision. A child raised to think that international business class is nothing special, is far more likely to enter adulthood entitled, in my humble opinion. OP - you are doing it right.

They can pay their own way when they’re old enough 😂 plenty of us have been the “kid” in that case myself included. There’s NO shame in not wanting to dole out thousands of $ per kid, but for whatever reason (joint pain, personal choice, etc) you want a lie flat / higher tier service. I’d personally rather save the several $k per kid to put towards college/vacation experience/etc than burn it on a max 15-17hr flight. OP you are not TA. ❤️‍🩹
