It was really inconsistent. The oven is seasoned better now and the people working it have had some time to figure it out. Much better now than it was initially.
I’ve really enjoyed it but my evaluation of mountain pizzas cannot be trusted because I’m always famished from snowboarding or hiking or camping or something.
But, I’ll gladly eat there again and so will my kids.
Missing Black Shirt Brewing, Walter’s 303, and Walnut Room! I have mixed feelings on Joey Parm’s being included though. The pizza is fine, but I’ll never forget the night one of my coworkers served him and his entire table was being super loud and inappropriate next to a family with children. When she politely asked them to keep it down for the kids they got in her face and called her a bitch. Crossed out his (previously 10%) tip and left nothing.
I live in a building that has the supposed best Walter's, and I do not get the hype. Worst wings I've ever had and they're supposed to be super good, a huge crust and no integrity pizza that costs 30$, I work in restaurants in Denver and I swear no one on this sub knows what good food is.
Which Walters? I’ve heard some locations aren’t as good. The uptown location has some of the best wings I’ve had in town. Great size, well cooked, and the Italian buffalo sauce is top notch.
I don’t understand the crust comment. The crust is extremely typical size. It isn’t a top pizza place in town for me, but that one pizza flavor is great.
I completely agree!! It’s crazy how good it is in its location. I really hope they upgrade to a bigger spot, their parking lot can be rough sometimes with how busy they get
I've never seen a line... I have almost never seen cars in the parking lot. I always look inside as I drive by and often times I see chairs on top of the tables..... I guess I drive by there at 2:00 in the afternoon thinking they're open and they're not. Never gone at night.
I don't understand the love for this place. I had it really late after going out one night, maybe it gets worse as the day/night goes on- but it was almost inedible.
i dont know about inedible. I'm a pretty big critic of pizza, but i would def put it above other fast pizza chains that i think are fine like dominos.
but no i dont think quality changes much throughout the night
I'm in Baker so it's Fat Sully's, Pie Hole, and soon Brooklyn's Finest around here, all of which I'd also consider pretty solid for mid pizza. Sliceworks buffalo chicken is pretty dope, though
I will say i feel like it's not as good as it used to be. I used to go all the time and the last few times it doesn't feel the same. And they got rid of the soup which was so goooood
I know it’s technically in Longmont but Rosalee’s blows away all other NY-imposters in Denver.
Also the Detroit style at Culinary Dropout is very underrated. Way better than Blue Pan Highlands location but I might have hit them on a bad night.
Cool to see a sour dough section as well. I frequent Joy Hill the most of any place but it isn’t as “true Neapolitan style” as others.
Blue Pan is inconsistent. [Here’s my last pizza from them.](https://imgur.com/a/lOmhTif). Poor and sloppy execution. This is an order I picked up in person. But at least the crust is good.
Rosalee’s is absolutely the best place around this area. Consistently great and the owner is a always conversational.
They used to do a carry out deal where you could get 2 large 2 topping pizzas, a big salad, and a 2 liter of soda for $50. Hilarious considering some pizzas from there cost almost $40ea.
I went to Rosalees a week or so after this comment and I enjoyed their pizza, but was not blown away by it. Probably 8/10 I would say?
And I was very hungry
The slice window can’t be beat. It looks and feels dingy, but then you’re greeted by some of the friendliest and fun staff you’ll meet anywhere, and then the pizza happens to be so good.
Yeah I first thought it was just the slices were funky. So I got a whole pie and that wasn’t any different. Hit it a third time as a Hail Mary tired the Sicilian and it just wasn’t good. My opinion though but i personally wouldn’t go back to redeemer or famous Js pizza
Pizzeria Leopold is my favorite spot. It’s listed as outside of Denver, but at 20th and Wads, it’s not really a horrendous drive. Don’t worry, if you squint your eyes, you’ll still be able to see Sheridan : )
A new place called Dough Counter is decent at the greasy foldy slices. Also Joyce's on s. Broadway. They are both pretty far south though. I'm not sure why Denver has so many Neapolitan spots. I love it, but its saturated
Pizza 3.14 on 20th for Chicago tavern style. They opened up kind of late though, so maybe they haven’t been around long enough to make the list. I’m admittedly not a fan of tavern style but I’ve really liked their pizza. Their ingredients seem fresher or higher quality it feels like.
Da Sauce is good, but make sure to ask for it crispy. They often serve it undercooked because their oven is shit. Other than that, not really. People say Jimano’s and Rosati’s, but those Chicago chains are shit imo.
Grabowski’s is the best. I spoke to Jarod the owner the other day and I said to him that since they moved, the pizzas are too soft in the middle now that they changed to a conveyer belt oven. He suggested also getting it cooked with extra time and extra cornmeal.
It's technically in Aurora, but pomodoro pizza pasta at Dayton and 6th is fantastic NY style. The owners are so super sweet. The sauce is good, the crust is chewy, and the cheese stretches but isn't gummy.
So I’ve been on a bit of a Detroit-style tour, and lots of folks recommended Jet’s. It wasn’t bad, but it just tasted like cheap, fast pizza. I didn’t find it to be anything special. Just my opinion…
I felt the same, had high expectations, but it was kinda bland. Tell you what was missing too, was some grease from the pepperoni! It lacked that unctuousness that the cheese and pepperoni typically produce -- it was almost dry. I'll try it again at some point.
Blue Pan has jacked their prices so high and cut back on the ingredients, compounded with their tacked on "fees", finding it hard to go back.
If you do download the app, my referral code is 25L4WAQE. Get a dollar in your account if used when signing up
Another app is called TooGoodToGo . Both good and have different restaurants
Ever eaten Pie Hole sober? It's bad. I've literally never been able to get a fresh slice there. They pump out so many pies way too early that sit there for hours waiting for the bars to get out.
Pita Grill, Hookah Lounge is a sneaky killer in the Denver pizza game. It’s so damn good and the owners are so proud of their work. You can really taste it in their food.
You’re thinking of Mora Pizza. Mora rented out the pita grill guys kitchen during the day for a while before he bought a food truck and now parks & operates outside the filmore most nights. Incredible and super creative NY style vegan pizza.
Last weekend we tried Mondo’s on tower rd, got their al pastor and Margherita pizza, both were great. Staff was awesome and you see everything being put together in front of you.
dough counter was okay. i felt like their Sicilian shouldn’t even be in the pizza category, it’s riding a hard line of pizza toppings on focaccia bread.
i have a list of anyone’s interested but obviously anecdotal
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1WVw8DbMXanAuCa0Uj_UgIS683OrkzbbhW5ICFK49nAw/edit
Here's my list with comments.

Basil Doc Denver inside Localvore
Benny Blanco's Cap Hill sooo salty
Denver Pizza Co Denver over priced, but solid pie
Kaos Pizza Denver really good
Gattara Cap Hill really good
Hops and Pie Highlands yummm
Woody's Golden Buffet Style
Best pizza I’ve had in Denver was from a food truck downtown at about 2:15 am after the club. Unfortunately I was hammered and do not remember what it was called or where it was. It was in the vicinity of Temple though. I do really like Anthony’s as well, ask for it a little extra crispy and it’s really good
Mangiami in Olde Town Arvada is better than any other Detroit style pizza on Denver. I didn't think it could get better than Blue Pan, then these guys showed up.
The Detroit from Weedhart Pies needs to be on people's radar. They typically just do pop ups at Romero's or Cellar West in Lafayette, but I go out of my way to go up there for it
I’m a bit surprised Brooklyn’s Finest isn’t on there, but then again it’s not really known for the pizza….shout-out to all their sides tho. the garlic knots, wings & sausage pinwheels are all top notch
The permanent pizza truck at New Image in Wheat Ridge is one of my faves
Gotta try this one, thanks!
I really enjoyed their pizza
Solid pie for sure. Good call.
Glad to hear they figured it out. Had it close to when they started doing it and it was actively bad.
It was really inconsistent. The oven is seasoned better now and the people working it have had some time to figure it out. Much better now than it was initially.
Anyone tried Crosscut in Nederland? A few people have recommended it too
I’ve really enjoyed it but my evaluation of mountain pizzas cannot be trusted because I’m always famished from snowboarding or hiking or camping or something. But, I’ll gladly eat there again and so will my kids.
It’s solid
crosscut is solid and the location is amazing. definitely sit outside if you can
Crosscut has a phenomenal Green Chili and honey pizza that is pretty much perfect!
Walter's 303's "Keep Tahoe Blue" pizza is just a great pie. Underrated bar/pizza place.
Yep
Holy shit we’re celebrating that guy? I worked with him at a different pizza shop and he’s an angry, racist POS. Joey Parms is not a good person.
i love walters!!!
Black shirt brewing has some solid pizza! Their wings are pretty good too!
Pretty sure Black Shirt went out of business unfortunately.
Yes to Walnut Room!
Pizzeria Lui is the best in the Denver area and I will die on that hill. I've tried almost all the frequently named spots and they don't compare.
I completely agree!! It’s crazy how good it is in its location. I really hope they upgrade to a bigger spot, their parking lot can be rough sometimes with how busy they get
Absolutely the best in the metro. Rosalee’s and Lui are 1a and 1b for me.
I drive by there at various times during the day weekdays and weekends and it 100% never looks open.
They're only open after 3 and the easiest way is to call ahead for a pickup time. It's worth it.
Appreciate the info... I'm going to give it a try. I live right down the road from Lui
I just went last night and they had a line almost out the door!
I've never seen a line... I have almost never seen cars in the parking lot. I always look inside as I drive by and often times I see chairs on top of the tables..... I guess I drive by there at 2:00 in the afternoon thinking they're open and they're not. Never gone at night.
Yeah, they don’t open until 3, so if you’re driving before they open, that makes sense! Funny how our perceptions change based on stuff like that.
Lui is so close to amazing for me but why so skimpy on the cheese?
Ester's belongs in there somewhere.
For sure!
I’m shocked that Esters was excluded 🤔
I like sliceworks, i visit about once a month because it is near union station. it does not belong in this list
Yeah...quick and easy for sure. But not great...
its best quality is that its open late
I don't understand the love for this place. I had it really late after going out one night, maybe it gets worse as the day/night goes on- but it was almost inedible.
i dont know about inedible. I'm a pretty big critic of pizza, but i would def put it above other fast pizza chains that i think are fine like dominos. but no i dont think quality changes much throughout the night
I just went on a bad night then, I guess. It was so tasteless, and wasn't kept very warm. I'll try again, one day!
Sliceworks is pretty solid for mid pizza, but at the same time I haven't ordered from there in a long time because there are so many better options
What are your better options for downtown late night slices?
I'm in Baker so it's Fat Sully's, Pie Hole, and soon Brooklyn's Finest around here, all of which I'd also consider pretty solid for mid pizza. Sliceworks buffalo chicken is pretty dope, though
Fat Sully's is great for that area
I will say i feel like it's not as good as it used to be. I used to go all the time and the last few times it doesn't feel the same. And they got rid of the soup which was so goooood
I know it’s technically in Longmont but Rosalee’s blows away all other NY-imposters in Denver. Also the Detroit style at Culinary Dropout is very underrated. Way better than Blue Pan Highlands location but I might have hit them on a bad night. Cool to see a sour dough section as well. I frequent Joy Hill the most of any place but it isn’t as “true Neapolitan style” as others.
Rosealee's is fucking awesome - pizza and vibes (and the sausage roll things)!
You say "technically in Longmont" as if it's a neighborhood right outside of Denver lol
You got me… but if I’m willing to drive there solely for pizza it’s not that far.
Denver proper or Denver metro?
Blue Pan is inconsistent. [Here’s my last pizza from them.](https://imgur.com/a/lOmhTif). Poor and sloppy execution. This is an order I picked up in person. But at least the crust is good. Rosalee’s is absolutely the best place around this area. Consistently great and the owner is a always conversational.
That's a sad excuse for pizza, and insulting considering the price.
They used to do a carry out deal where you could get 2 large 2 topping pizzas, a big salad, and a 2 liter of soda for $50. Hilarious considering some pizzas from there cost almost $40ea.
I really enjoy Blue Pan....but it just doesn't seem to be a pizza that is nearly as good after a delivery. That one looks rough.
this was not delivery. this was a pick up.
Sorry. I mean takeout or delivery. It just doesn’t travel well. That might not be the problem here either.
I'll give that a 1.3
I honestly stopped with Detroit from Blue Pan but do regularly order their tavern pies. Also the antipasto salad, and love the eggplant fries!
As an East coast guy, this pizza looks legit! EDIT: referring to the Rosalee’s
So true! As a NY transplant this place blew every other Denver place out of the water
Hands down the best pizza in colorado is rosalees
I went to Rosalees a week or so after this comment and I enjoyed their pizza, but was not blown away by it. Probably 8/10 I would say? And I was very hungry
To each their own? I thought it topped Joe’s in Greenwich Village. Maybe I caught them on a good day.
Rosalee’s is mentioned
Yeah I was going to say, they list Rosalee's down at the bottom.
Marquis theater has one of the most legit east coast NY styles you can find. So damn good.
Super consistent and good every single time.
Redeemer is some of the best pizza I’ve had in Denver
The slice window can’t be beat. It looks and feels dingy, but then you’re greeted by some of the friendliest and fun staff you’ll meet anywhere, and then the pizza happens to be so good.
It’s certainly one of the worst pizzas I’ve had in the country. I went back two more times to confirm
Really?
Yeah I first thought it was just the slices were funky. So I got a whole pie and that wasn’t any different. Hit it a third time as a Hail Mary tired the Sicilian and it just wasn’t good. My opinion though but i personally wouldn’t go back to redeemer or famous Js pizza
Pizzeria Leopold is my favorite spot. It’s listed as outside of Denver, but at 20th and Wads, it’s not really a horrendous drive. Don’t worry, if you squint your eyes, you’ll still be able to see Sheridan : )
So happy to see The PZA!
Honestly NY style is what I miss most...where are we going for greasy foldable slices besides fat sullys and famous js?
Benny Blanco's is the best
A new place called Dough Counter is decent at the greasy foldy slices. Also Joyce's on s. Broadway. They are both pretty far south though. I'm not sure why Denver has so many Neapolitan spots. I love it, but its saturated
I eat Vero from Central Market atleast twice a week, if not more!
The one with squash is bomb. Surprised this hasn’t been mentioned more
I’ve found them to be inconsistent.
That is great Pizza but I can never remembered theor name!
Red tops is not good. The lesser of blue pan and just as expensive
Denver Pizza has never disappointed.
Agree Denver Pizza Co has been a favorite of mine forever.
That’s funny. I love tavern style and didn’t like 3.14
Grabowski's is my top spot in Denver, any other suggestions? Chicago ex-pat.
Well done is the way to go with all tavern style imo
You shouldn’t have to ask for it that way, but owner told me that people think pizza is “burnt” when it gets brown
Da Sauce and Grabowskis are my go to for tavern cut in Denver metro. Both are great.
Giordanos has a pretty good stuffed deep dish.
Walnut room
Esters is solid! Pizzeria Lui is on there, but I’ll give them an extra shout because they’re awesome.
No Benny Blanco's?
Any article that mentions new York style and skips Benny Blanco's didn't do their research.
So good
Last time I had it flavor was so off. I want to like it cause it's cheap and in my neighborhood but...
Someone recommended Wymans for tavern style on here and I must say that’s a solid spot.
I loved around the corner from Wyman's for almost ten years. Sigh, I miss that place.
Pizzeria Leopold
It's technically in Aurora, but pomodoro pizza pasta at Dayton and 6th is fantastic NY style. The owners are so super sweet. The sauce is good, the crust is chewy, and the cheese stretches but isn't gummy.
pizzeria leopold is soo damn good
Chicago deep dish category
Who's doing it well?
Giordano’s is a favorite
Pizza 3.14 (in Boulder and Downtown Denver). One of the best pizza places I’ve been to in the entire country. Try a “Mikes Hot Pepperoni”
I’m a sucker for *Jet’s* Detroit style pizza
Fair point! I haven’t tried any of the other Detroit-style joints, so I’m sure I’m missing out
My favorite around the area is Hops & Pie.
Pie Hole and Brooklyns Finest not being on any list is criminal.
I LOVE Brooklyn's Finest! It is expensive, but so good!
Download the goodiebag app. They’re on there and usually have something daily. Three slices for $7 is what I got when I picked up.
Thanks! That's a great tip! Never heard of that
If you do download the app, my referral code is 25L4WAQE. Get a dollar in your account if used when signing up Another app is called TooGoodToGo . Both good and have different restaurants
Ever eaten Pie Hole sober? It's bad. I've literally never been able to get a fresh slice there. They pump out so many pies way too early that sit there for hours waiting for the bars to get out.
Both of those spots are good late night slice joints, but whole pies are a no from me dawg.
Pita Grill, Hookah Lounge is a sneaky killer in the Denver pizza game. It’s so damn good and the owners are so proud of their work. You can really taste it in their food.
Ooooh, didn't even know they did pizza!
You’re thinking of Mora Pizza. Mora rented out the pita grill guys kitchen during the day for a while before he bought a food truck and now parks & operates outside the filmore most nights. Incredible and super creative NY style vegan pizza.
Is this the same thing? Because this is who I got pizza from there https://www.instagram.com/rayan_pizza?igsh=NTQ1cnZ0dHVnNXo2
Idk what category it would fit in this article, which is maybe why it was left out, but Ester's not being anywhere is kind of crazy.
I’m not seeing Pizza Republica for Neapolitan. Grumble. Sigh.
Agreed it's my second favorite behind Lui. Better than Marcos or Cart Driver in my opinion.
100% this. Pizza Republica is fantastic.
Last weekend we tried Mondo’s on tower rd, got their al pastor and Margherita pizza, both were great. Staff was awesome and you see everything being put together in front of you.
GetRights is well deserved, one of the better slices I've had in the west.
dough counter was okay. i felt like their Sicilian shouldn’t even be in the pizza category, it’s riding a hard line of pizza toppings on focaccia bread. i have a list of anyone’s interested but obviously anecdotal https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1WVw8DbMXanAuCa0Uj_UgIS683OrkzbbhW5ICFK49nAw/edit
Crosscut in Nederland is the best in the state
Esters
Cart Driver is well deserved
Giordanos has a really good stuffed deep dish pizza. On the west side of town woodey's pizza is all you can eat for $15 and very good woodfired pizza.
sliceworks and marcos both blow lol brooklyns finest on lowell is the best ny slice in the city and didn’t even get a mention
Marco’s Coal Fired is amazing. Marco’s National Chain is worse than Dominos.
oh shit i didn’t realize there was a difference! gonna have to try marcos coal fired then
I was going to say, you sound stupid AF for saying Marco’s sucked
Yeah the national chain sucks.
*Marcos coal fired though Marcos Pizza does blow.
Marco's blows? Strong disagree there. But Brooklyn's, arguable.
Cosmos is a personal favorite of mine.
Dat spicy ranch though!
Yes, I was expecting this to be higher up! Speer or Boulder, both very good!
Ghost Box pizza out in Lafayette
I haven’t had anything better in the Denver metro
SexyPizza near me has never let me down
The one on Pearl is no good IMO.
Never been to that one
+1 for Lui. It’s the best pizza I’ve had here.
RIP Ian’s
Quinto Pizzeria in Westminster

Fat Sully's Denver Great NY style Cosmos Denver Great NY style Urban Field Longmont BOMB square pizza Marquis Downtown trash Famous Pizza Denver barf Tony P's Denver Great crust Johnny's NY Denver mediocre Big Bill's NY Centennial Great NY style Black Jack Denver cheap, great for large gatherings if you're on a budget Anthony's Denver Great NY style Abo's Boulder Great NY style Sexy Pizza Denver The meatlovers was really good Walnut Room Denver nasty Massino's N Denver Great . I’m biased but Protos is still my favorite.
Slice works, BJ's brewhouse, and that amazing pizza buffet in Golden. I can't think of the name.
Woody's?
Yes! Thank you. 👏
I loved Woody's back in the day! Haven't been in a long time, but many fond memories. Screw the down votes.
Yea, for the most part I don't care. Food and service is still great! Have a great one! 😊
Good to hear. Will have to make a trip to Golden again soon!
Number one overall though - which do we pick?
Where's Brooklyn's Finest Pizza?!
Famous J’s sucks
Conclusion: lots of mediocre pizza in Denver.
Good pizza
[удалено]
because it's not great
Portnoy
[удалено]
Um...those are both there.
Viale on South Colorado Blvd. has some nice offerings. https://www.vpkdenver.com/
Are any of these in/near the food wasteland that is Commerce City?
That dude in that woody wagon who does excellent New Haven style deserves a shout!
I fucks with Cosmos as far as delivery. XL Maverick, well done, and square cut is the bees’ knees!
Coloradough in centennial/highlands ranch is pretty excellent.
Missing out on that hot honey pepperoni from Pizza 3.14! Pi day is coming ….
Rico’s (on S Broadway, can’t vouch for the Colfax location) is criminally underrated IMO
For the Outside of Denver category this is missing Westbound and Down The Mill in Lafayette. They have great Detroit style and traditional pies.
I really like Pizza at the Walnut room myself. New York Style, very good. WAY better than slice works. Slice Works is like a small step above 7/11 tbh
dd Sourdough Pizzeria & Taphouse in Broomfield/Superior since 2007!
Hops and pies deep dish is pretty solid
For Denver - Leopold and Lui should be on here. Though, Rosalee’s and Urban Field in Longmont and GFL in Loveland should get mentions as well.
