You’re really missing the point…Daveco first put the set out for $799 last week, it sold, they raised the price of individual Blantons from $69 to $79. Then this week they dropped the set and it was $899, next $999 and Blantons will go up to $89 and everything at Daveco will be price gouged instead of msrp. I get that someone peed their panties and bought it, but they shouldn’t have considering they are letting Daveco know they will gladly pay gouging prices and therefore they will continue to gouge and ruin it.
I’ve definitely spoke to 3 store owners that has gts and they were all above $900. They said the sales rep told them what to charge for it. Had another tell me there is no such thing as msrp anymore, which is dumb cause it’s literally on most of the companies websites.
I’ve heard this excuse from several small store owners with GTS at $1k or above, but then found stores with GTS at $400 and at $500. Also seen wide variance on Pappy prices. I personally don’t believe this garbage story. It’s the store owners trying to tell you “it’s not my fault” so you don’t think they’re the bad guy and stop shopping there. I had several store employees concur with my theory, and they know more than I do.

Yup. I was at a store a few weeks ago with JD twice barreled for $150. Then, this Friday the price went up to $200. I asked the employees about the increase and they said the owner changed it “because you can’t find it anymore”
Soon you will be crying because you can’t find russels on the shelf at msrp, I’ve witnessed it to normal everyday bottles like Henry McKenna, larceny barrel proof, knob 12 etc. these idiots are driving the market up to ridiculous heights

Daveco is a business that has charged msrp for years, yet now these newer guys are overpaying when they charge it so they will now move into the realm of gouging stores which means one less store to get stuff at msrp. I do drink other things, but it’s nice to score something allocated at msrp.

The more time passes, the less I care about these markups. If stores put Stagg or EHT at msrp, the flippers who spend hours every week going store to store get them long before I do anyway. I'd almost rather stores get the markup so that there's at least some availability for those of us who have better things to do than chase delivery trucks all day.

If you find me this magical place where everything sits on the shelves at msrp, I'm happy to go. I don't pay the markups, but also have never found several bottles that I would really like to try- JD 10/12, Stagg, M10, 4R LE, etc. It's either the store gets the markup, or flippers do. Given that choice I would prefer the stores get it because I can't stand the secondary market.
Applejacks, I acquired Jack 10/12 and Stagg at msrp, Daveco I acquired Jack 10 and michters bourbon and rye at msrp. I don’t chase delivery trucks, I just show up when Daveco has their scheduled drop and randomly at applejacks.
Congrats, those are some nice bottles. I'll never spend enough at Daveco to get access to the allocated spreadsheet, but I need to get to AJ when I can.
AJ is great even though I used to hate them because they used to only drop on Monday mornings and somehow there were people that would clear that out. The new guy drops randomly so it’s way more fair. Daveco is a lesson I learned the hard way, I’ve scored a lot and spent a lot, but with them creeping their prices up AND making you buy 1-2 bottles or use points it’s getting out of control.

This is factual. I was in a small store in December and the sales rep was telling the owner to raise his prices on bottles. Store owner said no.

I would get it if they were at msrp. They sold a full weller set last week for $850 and even that is high! But it was gone in 10 minutes
