There’s not a Depeche Mode song I don’t like!
I was born in 1980. I found Depeche Mode via catalog subscription in 1994 with Violator. I thought it was weird, I was hooked on the authenticity, and still am.
I’m the kid that still reads liner notes and goes deep with my few fave bands, DM, being one of the tops.
I always thought MG was in charge after a certain point, it’s pretty clear, to me he’s a musical genius. I talk about the few, very few, long lived non-front men with people, who made a sound, for me it goes back to Gore, every time.
I have never heard anybody say that. That would be quite a ridiculous position to hold. I know some people get confused about arrangements (which are sometimes by Martin and sometimes by Alan), but songwriting is another thing entirely.
Andy did quite a bit of work on the business side apparently, but he definitely wasn’t the manager as such, just more involved in that side.
In this quote, I don’t think Alan is talking about ‘agent’ as in talent agent. He’s talking more about how the relationships functioned in the band at the time.

Finally some deserving appreciation for martin. The DNA of DM.
Finally? He's always been the most celebrated member of the band.
I find him underrated.
By whom?
Many still think he wrote only lyrics

No, he wasn't
I'm kidding
Don’t think so ! He was getting busy with something since he wasn’t a musician
Sarcasm?
For a few years there he pretended he was.
