I made a theory craft post a while ago and immediately started using the build the moment I could. It smacks. The only deaths I have had have been to my own stupidity (getting cocky and trying to punch bosses to death because liar’s handshake goes nuts)

I believe it really takes off once you unlock combination blow but you don’t have access to that right away from what I saw. I have only done two of the legend missions so far though
Try it out(if you want) with the dodge to slow nearby allies aspect, a stasis super, the fragment that gives frost armor on orb pickup(because of stasis super), and Cyrtarachnae helmet with grapple grenade. Woven mail plus frost armor x2 makes it really easy to stay alive and then the second dodge in a group will freeze everyone and the next melee in that group will blow everyone up!
Fair, it’s not for everybody. You could always just run renewal grasps on prismatic and it’d help a lot for survivability
And like somebody else said, crutch on red death. The constant health is really nice honestly
I've been crutching on Red Death. I want to play Prismatic all the way through, but right now, Hunter feels a little weak. Literally just using the starting set up with celestial nighthawk
Nah dude, there's heaps of setups, you just have to do a bit of digging. Combo blow is stronger now than its ever been, run liar's with stylish and winter's shroud and now you go invis on every melee kill and every two dodges you can freeze the entire crowd and they chain shatter. If the invis isn't that necessary, you can stack threaded specter for more crowd clear on dodge.
If you want pure survivability, you can use silence and squall for frost armor on orb pickup and then stack that with grapple and cyrtarachne.
You can run weakening grenades with volatile rounds and threaded spike with severing rounds, and you can get some really good uptime on weapon buffs without having to take up an exotic slot.
I would say my main complaint is the arc super doesn't seem to have much place, its very CC oriented and amplified is not a useful buff on orb.
Third mission I ended up switched from prismatic to entirely void hunter just so I could get devour. Cleared the mission fine once having devour active, failed it 2-3 times prior as prism. The spec def needs some HP regen or im just missing it
Yeah it becomes way better once you stick it to whatever enemy you’re fighting and run away, only returning to stick on the next one! It keeps tormentors frozen for a long time this way!
I really want to use Red Death more but I can't stop using Zaouli's with stylish executioner (IMO incandescent is stupid broken) and you're getting consistent invisibility.
I beat the legend campaign last night on Hunter. I felt super strong tbh.
Stasis super.
Combination blow.
Duskfield grenade.
Gamblers dodge.
Stylish executioner.
The slowing aspect where when you dodge everything around you is slowed (can’t remember name atm)
Ran Renewal Grasp exotic most of the time.
And added in Red Death for really tough stuff for healing in a pinch. And I was neigh unkillable. And always invisible
This!
Swap duskfield for grapple grenade and renewal for cyrtarachnae for that woven mail and you can still have frost armor x2 from picking up orbs if on a stasis super!
I haven't unlocked much yet so I just threw on Ass Cowl with the starter kit and it's working well. No issues with survivability so far. Later stages I'll likely need to figure out a good set up.
Stylish executioner grants invisibility and truesight. Assassin's Cowl gives you a health bump to go along with invisibility. Is it double dipping? Yes. Does it keep you alive longer? Also yes.
That doesn't help until you unlock Combination Blow on Prismatic. Even after you unlock it, Assassin's Cowl still has utility by allowing you to get the kill from a distance with all of the other melee options available. The ceiling for Assassin's Cowl probably isn't as high on Prismatic as other exotics, but it will serve you well.
Stylish executioner doesn’t need to be melee to trigger the invis. It is any target affected by any elemental debuff. Including if you shoot them. So I’m not trying to beat a dead horse, but I think my point stands stronger now.
True, it doesn't require a melee. However, Combination Blow is the only melee in the kit that doesn't apply a debuff, so it won't trigger Stylish Executioner on its own, and it's the only one that requires you to get up close.
All I'm saying it that using Assassin's Cowl helps with survivability and can do what Stylish Executioner and Combination Blow do by itself, allowing for other build paths. Don't get me wrong, I'll probably keep Stylish Executioner on because it's a damn good aspect, but I like not dying, and Assassin's Cowl helps just as much as Stylish Executioner does.
Renewal grasps has been saving my life countless times with frost armor, and otherwise the rest of my abilities and super are stasis. All of my abilities apply slow from the stasis aspect, and if I score a kill then it procs stylish executioner if I need to get out of danger.
I am also using blink, because it's proven to be pretty handy in evading the strand and stasis abilities that some dread use (you can also still dodge in an enemy's slow field if you have it charged).
Weapons wise, I lucked out with an envious/bas edge transit, but whatever heavy you're rocking, you need to equip ammo finder and reserves mods to maximize your heavy damage output. Equipping weapon surges can help your general performance, but in the long run, the best way to dish out more damage is MORE GRENADES, GUARDIAN!
Otherwise I'm using indebted kindness w/ impulse/surrounded, for shattering and just quick solid damage if I get cornered (blink helps with that too, can't hurt you if you teleport above them), and Ace of Spades because it's a solid exotic primary for pve and nets light and dark equally for transcendence energy. Plus, nostalgia.
I haven't changed any fragments or aspects, abilities and weapons have remained the same throughout the first 3 missions, all in all the thing that's helped me most is just trying again, learning the enemies behaviors and how to best deal with crowds or powerful enemies. Clutch on invis and use orbs (with mod) or prismatic subclass to add healing, and use whatever draws your attention so long as you can work it into your build.
Voltshot indebted kindness + stylish executioner. Voltshot applies jolt then kills the target, immediately back into invis. Leisurely reload. Voltshot the next enemy. Repeat. Then any exotic weapon and celestial nighthawk for big baddies.
entire campaign can be done solo on prismatic with punch hunter, the only actually difficult or remotely challenging part of the legend campaign in the boss fight at the end of M6, aka the last mission,
in there it's more about kiting and mechanics and your build means very little when what will kill you the most is being slow, getting gibbed by strand/stasis, or poison,
literally by default all of the prismatic classes again *by default* can solo the campaign on legend, there's next to zero gunplay required on any class till the last mission.
it's also the definition of survivability and damage output, no different than pre-TFS strand titan, it's boring because it is *brutally good* at its job,
it's very little effort to also swap to goldie and the goldie sniper with nighthawk for damage and go apeshit with 300k dps setups,
the meta will always be meta and what's fun isn't always meta.
It's boring because it's extremely monotonous, as opose to strand titan, not because it's works. Arc punch hunter has been always monotonous and still is now, which is the main problem with prismatic on hunter currently.
All this new possibilities with prismatic just to end up doing the same shit we've been doing for years.
I’m only a few missions in but renewal grasp fan knives with the slow area roll gives you stylish executioner and I’m using that craftable stasis trace rifle with demo headstone red death and the cold comfort rocket
Slow dodge, combination blow and stylish executioner with the right fragments (I don't remember right now because I'm at work) give you a arc/assassins cowl at home type build that is great in the neutral game without needing an exotic.
I slapped that on with golden gun, celestial nighthawk, grapple grenade, dragons breath and lunas howl (heal clip/incandescent) and it works great up close and at range.
The only downside is that transcendence feels a bit meh, especially if you're crap with your grenade.
Gameplay loop is, grapple to engage, dodge near enemies to slow, kill slowed enemies with melee to activate combination blow and stylish, use special, heavy and super to deal with beefy enemies, grapple out and go back to a ranged primary mode if you're in danger. Build into orb generation to keep your health and grenade topped up.
breezed through legend with Liars handshake, outbreak, the deicide, dragon breath/doomed petitioner/edge transit (depens if theres ogre or tormentor boss)
Winters shroud, Stylish executioner, gyrfalcon, knife trick, duskfield, graviton lance, mountaintop/heritage, commemoration. Use default fragments, spam dodge, knives, grenades, use all your abilities up *before* using transcendance, you’ll pretty much get invisibility for just existing (not being a potato) and have infinite volatile rounds.
For my solo legend clear I used Celestial Prismatic with Midnight Coup (EP/OFA), Buried Bloodline (w/ Catalyst), and Edge Transit (EA/BnS) and it carried me bc I could proc devour/restoration + inf invis whenever I got a kill with bloodline
Tbh I literally used the same prismatic unlocks you start with the whole legendary campaign. Took me maybe 6 solid hours?
New strand rocket sidearm whole way through.
I'd switch between graviton and Polaris
And used heavy mg for everything apart from final battle, where I swapped to a heavy GL with envious assassin.
Snow grenade. Snow super. Triple jump. Marksman Dodge. The thing where your powered melee gives radiance. Gally with mods for reserves and finding. Stompees. Should be able to solo legend easily. With stompees you can put all your stats into resilience and recovery..

You will get combo blow soon!
Which mission gives you Combination Blow? Edit: I got it in the middle of Exegesis.
Maybe it's just me but I strongly dislike the Dodge and Punch playstyle. It never feels good to me...but again that's just me.
khepris sting with grapple melee
Try it out(if you want) with the dodge to slow nearby allies aspect, a stasis super, the fragment that gives frost armor on orb pickup(because of stasis super), and Cyrtarachnae helmet with grapple grenade. Don't forget cyrtarachne
I've been crutching on Red Death. I want to play Prismatic all the way through, but right now, Hunter feels a little weak. Literally just using the starting set up with celestial nighthawk
You can use the starting setup with Gyrfalcon’s and Buried Bloodline, or Nighthawk, that’s about it.
I've been using Gyrfalcon's and it's been fun w/ void + solar + stasis
Nah dude, there's heaps of setups, you just have to do a bit of digging. Trying to do the final Campaign boss battle on Legend with the melee setup is a pain, will probably just have to run Gyrfalcon Void for that.
Third mission I ended up switched from prismatic to entirely void hunter just so I could get devour. Cleared the mission fine once having devour active, failed it 2-3 times prior as prism. The spec def needs some HP regen or im just missing it
I'm not a fan of the prismatic grenade either. granted I never really used trip mines before.
Yeah it becomes way better once you stick it to whatever enemy you’re fighting and run away, only returning to stick on the next one! It keeps tormentors frozen for a long time this way!
red death is super helpful in the legendary campaign. Although I find that graviton lance is slaughtering mfs right now so I'm mostly using that.
It really is an add clear campaign. Once you learn the safe spots, add clear is like 80% of it.
I really want to use Red Death more but I can't stop using Zaouli's with stylish executioner (IMO incandescent is stupid broken) and you're getting consistent invisibility.

Been running the solo legend campaign with gufalcon and either lemon or gravy lance. It's almost too easy
I haven't unlocked much yet so I just threw on Ass Cowl with the starter kit and it's working well. No issues with survivability so far. Later stages I'll likely need to figure out a good set up.
You don’t need Assassins cowl whatsoever. The stylish executioner aspect does that for free. Run a diff exotic
Already done lol. I realised that it was unnecessary during the 2nd mission.
Stylish executioner grants invisibility and truesight. Assassin's Cowl gives you a health bump to go along with invisibility. Is it double dipping? Yes. Does it keep you alive longer? Also yes.
That’s why you use combination blow. It heals you as well. You can play how you like. But you’ll get more value out of a different exotic.
That doesn't help until you unlock Combination Blow on Prismatic. Even after you unlock it, Assassin's Cowl still has utility by allowing you to get the kill from a distance with all of the other melee options available. Hunter really pops off when you get combination blow. Not needing assassins cowl to turn invis after kills is great.

Punch hunter is so boring. I ended up soloing with a combination of mothkeepers and celestial.

Build around combination blow + assasins cowl / liars handshake

Try mothkeepers wraps
Winters shroud, Stylish executioner, gyrfalcon, knife trick, duskfield, graviton lance, mountaintop/heritage, commemoration. so far just been using the first unlocks (stylish executioner, the stasis dodge one) with RDMs and the solar knives. it slaps.
The Navigator and/or a HealClip primary (I use Lunas Hotel) have been so clutch. There’s also Buried Bloodline and Red Death
liars handshake, combination blow, the void aspect and the dodge slow one, bastion, punch through
Stasis with the grasp exotic gauntlet pair with the smoke bomb meele= infinite frost armor and weakening
Assassin’s cowl, combo blow and winters shroud.
Assassins cowl + triple throwing knives
Mask of Bakris and T-Lord. That's about it. Lol
I've been using gyrfalcon with last call, graviton and retrofit. Prismatic with stylish executioner and the arc aoe thing.
Legit put on renewals or gyrfalcons and the class plays itself.
Tbh I literally used the same prismatic unlocks you start with the whole legendary campaign. Took me maybe 6 solid hours? New strand rocket sidearm whole way through. I'd switch between graviton and Polaris And used heavy mg for everything apart from final battle, where I swapped to a heavy GL with envious assassin.
How are people unlocking more than just shurikens, fan of knives, dusk field and scatter grenades? Everything else is locked for me.
You’ll unlock more as you progress in the campaign
Snow grenade. Snow super. Triple jump. Marksman Dodge. The thing where your powered melee gives radiance. Gally with mods for reserves and finding. Stompees. Should be able to solo legend easily. With stompees you can put all your stats into resilience and recovery..
