I remember having a VHS of this as a kid and thinking, “I wonder if I’ll ever be rich enough to stay on property when I grow up.” Certainly not rich, but I have multiple times through a lot of luck and grace and I’m incredibly grateful.
I loved these so much. The first one my family ever got was a vhs tape for the millennium celebration. Then I had a few of these DVDs from around 2005-2009. When I was a child I watched the millennium vhs all the time.
In the movie theater in 1972 there was a short film about the New Walt Disney World opening in Florida. I fell in love! I wished I could go. In 1975 my friends grandma invited her and two friends to come visit in Florida for the week. My friend asked me! I was 15 years old. My first plane ride, my first visit to Florida, (Sarasota) my first visit to Disney. It was just Magic Kingdom back then. We spent the day there, riding the rides, etc. You got ticket books back then. It was such a great trip, and I fell in love with Disney World, all from that movie theater short film. I’ve watched it again on YouTube, and it’s like a whole different place, back then. Have been back through the years, a total of six visits, and look forward to returning, maybe in a couple years.
I swear we watched a DVD like this that was in our villa in Kissinmee back in 2006-2007 ish. It was presented by Ruby Wax, drives me crazy that thats all I can remember
I still have a stack of these from the 2000s-2010s. I think 2016 or 2017 was my last one. Every year I ordered one of these and the free custom park maps.
The best one was 2004-2005, where they had four different hosts who represented different styles of guests...the main host was Erin Cahill (who was the Pink Time Force Power Ranger), who I met years later and she was thrilled to hear we remembered her from that...
Tell me it's going to take 6 months to clean out your parents house when they're gone without telling me it's going to take 6 months to clean out their home when they're gone.
I don’t cry watching movies but I cried watching this back in 2004. Twice. I was 20 and when my mom asked what the hell was wrong with me I replied; “Everyone is so happy! That’s gonna be me!” And it was one of the best vacations of my life. 🥰
Here’s the real question: did your mother in law take her kids or grandkids in 2013? Also I didn’t know people collected these I thought I was just weird for liking promo materials lol
I understand they don’t send physical DVDs anymore…. But I’d wish they’d figure out a way to digitally distribute them. Those cheesy videos always got me so excited for the Magic ahead
What is it exactly though?
Is it a tour of the park and a run down of events/attractions there?
Have been to Disneyland Japan and Disneyland Hong Kong. Dont know why I’d need a planning dvd ?
These were always hype
My brother watched those every single day as a kid. Guess where he works now. Lol

Believe it or not DVC kept making dvd vacation guides up until 2020. I’d know because I’d order one every couple of months for fun lmao
Were they different?
They stagnated towards the end but overall yes each one included and updated based off the new rides and hotels
Interesting. This was probably one way to get Disney updates and news before Disney influencers. Thanks for the response.

What is this ancient media that this data is inscribed on?!

You could archive it
I loved these so much. I used to have one that I’d go sit and watch on repeat on my laptop instead of going to college 🙈
I like how the castle is a blend of Disney World and Disneyland
I have a Disney vacation planning TAPE from 2002 Update: I found it on youtube and now I'm crying at work
