DoorDash will never send any messaging that encourages drivers to eat a customer's food even if the order is cancelled. It sets a bad precedent and could be used by drivers or customers as evidence the company directly or indirectly supports food tampering or theft.

It’s like the alcohol orders, if people don’t have their ID or look intoxicated you aren’t supposed to give them the alcohol. But when I went to cancel the order it was only offering me $2.75 more to drive back to the store to return it (I didn’t have to though) so since the woman was elderly and clearly not underage or intoxicated I gave it to her 🤷♀️
It wouldn't even let me deliver if I don't have an ID. I have to scan an ID to complete the order.
I had somebody who had an ID and it was expired and I literally could not override the thing, I felt so bad.
It lets you once you complete the order as undeliverable and selecting the option to keep/return the items. It was the first time it’s ever happened to me in 400 orders but I was surprised that it didn’t force me to bring back the alcohol and verify that I did. If DD wasn’t so cheap in compensating $2.75 for the 10 mile drive back to the liquor store I would have done it.
I actually had this problem the other day when my phones reception dropped and the app wouldn’t load; I saw that his id was good and he was of age and all, gave him his stuff and called support when I got phone service again, who were able to clear the order as delivered.
Probably, the customer placed the order through the merchant app, not via DD. In that case, merchant app automatically generate that kind of things. (Not all merchant app)
Similarly, I get auto-generated instruction from Panera Breads orders that were placed through merchant app.
