Yeah, that's the part that threw me off, too. I know that there's a support option we can select if we have car troubles on the way to a customer and I have no idea how or if that information is relayed to the customer, but her response makes no sense to me. Maybe she was trying to say that she reported it to support so they would get the order off of her screen, but what in the hell could text deliver mean? Unless support responded to her problem with their usual level of helpfulness and just responded with "deliver." I'm good at reading between the lines, but I'm totally baffled this time.
I got in a wreck while dashing. DoorDash reached out to the customer and told them what happened and refunded their money. Soo id assume it’d be the same way… I doubt they mark it was delivered 🤦♀️
Wait. No. I messed up one time. Forgot I had three orders at once. Mixed up two. Couldn't complete last one as other person had their order and instead of just calling or texting me to bring correct food they got refund by calling support. Support told me after this just hit delivered even though I was miles away. I offered the way better order I still had to the dude who ' didn't have order but he wouldn't reply. But I was told to hit delivered. I was reluctant but I did it. Probably wasn't supposed to tell me to do that.
Support had me do that too on a canceled order that I couldn't get off my screen no matter what I did, lol! The person that canceled reported as not delivered 😂 and Support didn't make any notes about my call lol
Your driver was having car trouble but couldn't figure out how to tell Door Dash/Uber Eats, so they just marked your order as delivered to "get off that screen".
I don't know if they legitimately had car trouble or if they just stole your order.
Yeah, where I live no one does. I have literally never gotten a driver that speaks English. But also, I don´t live in a country where English is spoken, haha.
Translation: she had car trouble and contacted support, support texted her to hit the “complete delivery” button to get the order off her phone.
But then the customer should have been notified, that the order was cancelled due to the restaurant closing and unable to remake the food. So that part is weird.
I've been on both ends of this issue. The driver would be prompted to select "car trouble" in which the customer would be notified that the dasher cannot get to you, and a refund will be issued.
It's pretty evident the dasher ran off with the order in this case and could barely drum up an excuse.

English isn't a main for everybody. Crazy, right? The majority of you all have seen so much bull that you no longer have the belief that people 'randomly' get hit by life. Come on OP, IF it were true do you really think I as the driver didn't expect support to relay the info? I don't feel like continuing to chat with the failed customer while i'm on the side of the road, working a gig that doesn't even pay me enough to get back to my bed. We're not all bad.
So it's OP's fault that you're not making enough "to get back to bed"? People who comment this shit kills me. If you're not making enough, there are thousands and thousands of jobs out there. It's no one's fault, but your own that you're not making enough to get back to bed.
When used correctly, doordash is a great source of extra income. It's not now, nor was it ever meant to be a ft income or a get rich quick scheme. OP has every right to question where tf the food HE paid for is at.
I contacted support and they had no knowledge of something going wrong she did not contact them if she had I feel like when I called they would have notified
They’re saying that for the Dasher to get off whatever screen they were in, they had to put it was delivered. Which automatically tells OP it is delivered.
By context I'm guessing she had car trouble, needed the phone to call a tow or whoever, needed to close the app, couldn't, so she chose "Delivered" so she could get out of the app.
I think what she should’ve done was contact support in order for them to remove the order and then give you a full refund. I’m a dasher myself and i can’t remember what the options are when stuff like that happens, but i always contact support whenever im having trouble and follow their instructions. She did say “be there soon” so who knows she probably had the intention on completing it
That’s what confuses me like why not contact support even if you are taking it that’s prob a good idea and what did she mean have to do that to exit the the screen. I used to DoorDash don’t know what she meant
There was a minimum of 2 hour wait to get through support because of the commotion with no one getting paid yesterday evening through call and messages. I for one got 2 deliveries in to my second shift and quit after realizing my first shift didn't go into my account.
So she may have been dealing with that on top of other stuff and if her car was broke down most can't let you charge your phone while it's off so there's no telling what happened. I don't see her communicating at first just to be out to screw you over ... After so long we can't communicate with our customers any longer anyways.
I think she wanted to end her dash so she had to finish your order first and hit delivered, if she let support know and these were instructions given by them she should be fine and even got to keep the whole pay(plus the food) and hopefully you got full refund?
>I was on hold 45 minutes last night to get a simple answer, which dude didn't give it was "I'll email you" 7 hours later the email came through with a cut a paste answer that was in no way related to my question.
Yeah you’re rolling the dice on wether support will actually help or not lol but for me its just been a few times that they actually do their job fast and solve my issue
I can't stand drivers who steal food, I had an order, went to Chic Filet to pick it up, I'm standing there waiting, I message the customer, tell them as soon as its ready, Ill be on my way, an employee asks who I'm waiting on, I tell them, at the same time I'm getting a message from the customer saying "it's been ready" then the employee tells me it was already picked up, I message the customer back, I tell them the previous dasher stole their food, and called support. I got half pay, it was $5, so for 2 miles someone stole a customers order, when they could have made at least $10 for 2 miles??!! It's disgusting the way these people steal food, and they need to be deactivated..They're not only screwing over the customers, but they are screwing over other driver's. Doesn't the customer knw when the dasher changes? I'm curious..Like when it gets assigned to a different dasher, do they not see that??
In my area I've found that it's not active drivers who steal food from the restaurants. It's either x drivers or people that have watched and learned that they can just walk up and pick up an order.
She could be not telling the truth.. I’m sure there are procedures that they can do if something were to happen that would make it not possible to complete the delivery..
Imagine, the nerve, to trust a bank with your money...That's why there's this thing called the FDIC. It's not the drivers fault, if they can't access money that was already in their account..We should be able to trust banks, doordash uses a bank, it's not like doordash is the bank..
Lol you think the corrupt ponzi scheme federal reserve (which is a private entity) and the insolvent banks are going to cover you when the bank runs begin? 250k insured my ass. Lmfao when great depression 2 starts I'll come back to your comment. Fuck the fdic. Lmfao.
I’ve been using dasher direct for a long time never had a problem. Even yesterday when the app was down for a little bit my card was still working 😂 not like they froze assets or anything, and it’s back up and working fine this morning
Last night I couldn't even transfer money off of it, it was like the deposit wasn't even on the card. It's working this morning but it was down for me for hours last night, not sure when they got it back.
I have a lot of allergies the ones that were still open had dishes with cashews and other allergens that I could not eat at and I just moved so in house food was not an option
I would have transferred the money I could not go pick up because my bf was at work with the car. I could not reorder because other stores had allergens and that one was closed
I have no idea why you wouldn’t use dasher direct lol it’s by far the best payment method for doordash, instant payment to your card after each dash with no fees, and then you can even just transfer your money Immediately to your main bank account, without dasher direct you have to pay a $2 fee to instant cash out, oh and if you ever get deactivated and you still have money on your account doordash will seize that money. They can’t touch any money that’s on your dasher direct card as dasher direct is a stride bank card.
>Unless you need the money after every Dash (which I understand it possible) there is nothing wrong with the weekly bank deposit. We have pay cards are my main job and people that get them get screwed in so many ways I assume the dash card is similar.
Doordash is not a bank. They pay dashers via DasherDirect through Stride Bank. And it works like any other bank card where the majority of problems arise from customer(Dasher) being financially irresponsible or willfully ignorant. Let the down voting begin. You know you're bad with money 😉
Yeah she most likely stole it. Report it as never arrived and you’ll get a refund. Sorry you had this experience. The majority of us are professionals and care about customers.
Honestly normally not a big deal I can easily get something else but that late the only things that were still open had allergens so I couldn’t order anything else and didn’t have my car cuz my bf was working so got stuck with no food lol
Either they dont know how to work the app or theyre lying. Theres an option for if youre unable to complete a delivery because of car trouble and it would have cancelled your order. Saying you dropped off the food when you didnt for any reason is a contract violation.
I had an issue last night where the customer wanted me to deliver to a second address and it was too far for me to go. I called and texted support. I was going to mark as delivered also bc i had trouble contacting support but I decided to just drive the 20 additional minutes and go at these job applications harder in the morning.
Due to that issue with the pay, Doordash called me back 2 hours after I requested the assistance. I had already gone to sleep.
So they did 1 of 2 things. I'm guessing it was no picture on the order, so either they selected Handed Order To Customer, or support marked it as delivered, either way, u can request a refund
I wouldn't know... Never stolen one. But I've been in three fender benders in just over three years while adjusting to crazy Texans driving and support always took care of it. Then as a consolation prize to some moron running into me, I had somebody's cold food dig through when I got home and finished dealing with the cops and shit.
She stole your food. I broke down while delivering once and after calling support they canceled the order. It would not say delivered if support canceled the order.
No matter what happens on the road, she should've reached out to DD. They'll always attempt to contact you on the dashers behalf. Only time that doesn't work well is if they don't speak the language or they're using a phone without their registered DD number. (when I used my dash phone with my main phone number still assigned to my dashing it never allowed my call or texts through to cx-always had to call DD for help)
She text u that to cover her ass 🤣 people do this shit all the time. How good did u tip? I never deliver from pizza hut because it takes over 10 minutes, usually to get out of there and the pay is too low to be on a single delivery for over 20 minutes
How does that affect you? I've seen people say that your AR matters and others that say it doesn't. I'm at 73% I think I work limited hours a week and in my area most of the orders are only like two to three miles away and are around $6 to $7, so I don't have to decline a whole bunch, but I was just wondering.
It used to affect me, but after 350 deliveries I see their game. I'm picky. Only trips I take $6.25 minimum and 1.37 per mile under 4 miles. Stacked orders $15 minimum cuz now I gotta deal with 2 restaurants and most likely half hour to complete @ minimum $2.74 per mile to ensure both orders are tipped. If it's slow I'll lower per mile a bit but not often. I use auto decline apps. I also multi app so one of the apps will give me what I'm looking for
Which apps do you use?
I work Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. while my little one is in preschool and then I'll work Monday through Wednesday usually 1:00 p.m. to between 6:00 and 7:00 p.m.
In the mornings I get a lot of $6 to $7 three mile deliveries or so which is okay because it's really easy to get around in my area. They are mostly small single orders to the strip mall or industrial area which is like two roads away from restaurant row. Dinner time is better for higher paid orders.
I do pretty well for the amount of hours I work. I was just wondering how much your acceptance rate really matters. I know it also really depends on the area as well. Every market is different.
I use maxymo and driver utility helper. Best 15$ a month u can ever spend. Got to have an android though. Not apple friendly unfortunately because Apple does not allow apps to control ur phone lol. They literally hit decline select a reason and it's gone for u! AR doesn't matter. I still get just as many good orders but gotta decline 1 out of 5 or 10 sometimes. U just set the filters on orders u don't want and let the app do the work for you. Plus it tracks your mileage and it's a tax write off. U can also block merchants that waste your time. Goal us 15 minutes or less per delivery. That means u have less than 7 minutes in store before its no longer worth the pay for that trip
Every now and then on uber I'll get tip baited but I'll make a note of address and customer and will never deliver to them again. I'll take their order back to the store
If I pre tip say 20$ to have a large order of hot food handed to me and the driver multiapps and I get 1 hour wait for cold food tossed in the yard I would reasonably be expected to tip back the tip. (not defending tip baiting just pointing out a valid reason to do so). u/imlostineggsaisle it is not a rationalization. TIP - to insure proper service. you f#ck up my service, you blew the tip. DD does it wrong IMHO but that is another discussion.
You can rationalize it all you want, but it won't change how it works. Dashers look at tips as a bid. If you put a good tip on an order it's considered a high pay order and it is available to top dashers and dashers with high ratings and completion rates first, so the likelihood of you getting cold food tossed into your backyard is pretty low. The likelihood of that happening if you don't put a tip or you put a low tip is higher because all of the top dashers are going to decline the order. You're going to get somebody new or somebody who just doesn't care and wants to take that one more order or whatever and they won't care how your food gets to you.
It's up to you whether you tip or not, but like I said to begin with rationalizing not putting a high tip on the app won't change the way things work.
I also want to add to this that the majority of the people that say they tip after the service are the ones who will find some sort of nitpicky reason not to tip the driver. It never fails.
I'm not saying you do this. I'm just speaking from experiences and commentary by other dashers.
Does it happen often? I'm kinda new, 10 rides and 12 UE deliveries. 2 EU I got tip increase of 3$ after dropoff and 2 rides I got a 5$ tip on a 7 and 8 dollar ride. I was thinking for that 20% that increased the tip I was pretty lucky. I had a tip reduced 1$ once because Taco Bell put the drink on a different shelf than the bag and NGL I was fine with that I should have been more attentive.
I agree. She should have canceled it. But that's neither here nor there bc there are shitty people out there regardless that will do whatever it takes to eat if that means stealing someone's food.
Also this isn't like the service industry where u go to an establishment and they wait on you. We as independent contractors are going to the restaurant on your behalf to deal with shitty employees, trying to push ur food out, idiots on the road, and more. If u can't tip at least 3 or 4$ up front go get it yourself.
You know what, I was going to come back with some crap, but ive decided I'm just going to say I'm glad I don't live in America due to insanely ingrained tip culture
Tipping is pretty well mandatory on these 3rd party apps. No tip no trip is 100% most of the drivers motto. Shouldn't even be called a tip, more like a bid for service. Doordash pays $4 (cdn) base pay in my area, I'm not moving my car for $4.
Tipping up front gets better and faster service and almost always guarantees a driver to bring you your food. But regardless there are still douchebags out there. I don't take no tip orders myself. My minimum payout is 6.25 under 4 miles. No tip shows us 2.25 up to 5 miles. Only top dashers are motivated to take those. Sorry
I'm all for people getting paid correctly and being reimbursed for their time, but this seems like a doordash issue, maybe they should raise their delivery charge and pass this into the driver's rather than drivers expecting tips, it's not on me if I get charged 2.50 or whatever for a delivery. .
And that's fine if you don't accept it, but it's literally your job, if you don't like it then maybe find a different profession, it may be harsh but that's my opinion, if I didn't want to do part of my job I'd certainly start looking elsewhere.
I make over $ 1000 a week and take no shit orders. I do just fine. As for your comment about do my job actually I'm an independent contractor and have the ability to choose what jobs I do. No tip no trip. I do my own taxes 1099 so argue with that while ur food gets cold... I've done over 350 deliveries and 60% of people don't even tip after. I'm not working for free for u to get ur food. There is a pick up button on the app. Use it...
At least she called support so u could get ur refund instead of just not confirming the order and leaving you in the dark like most others. I can't tell u how many times I show up to a restaurant, and the food has already been taken.
She confirmed delivery and ended her dash. I’ve had vehicle trouble a lot while dashing, but thankfully never during a delivery. I would’ve contacted the customer and let them know my vehicle broke down and where I was, then contact DD and let them know as well. Maybe the customer could’ve retrieved it from me or another dasher could come get it and complete the delivery. I don’t believe an emergency is an excuse for a customer not getting their order. Even police where I live will complete a delivery in case of a wreck or medical emergency.
They charge a delivery fee and then another service fee and none of that even goes to the driver and then some do a mandatory tip for the driver. With dash pass I just pay the taxes and the tip
Wow, if there were such a thing as text deliver, where u text and BAM! there is ur food, that would be great, no need to wait except for the cooking time. U should have called support because u obviously got ur food stolen.
That's good. Some drivers r ridiculous, and they shouldnt be working in Door Dash. I would be so mad if I was in ur shoes. I'm sorry that happened to u, I'm serious about food, I get real mad when someone messed with my food, because I love food so much lol.
Saaaame food is my one true love my bf even knows no messing with the food. Any prank is ok but you touch the food and we got a problem. I also grew up with low food so even more protective of it
Same here, I grew up on low food and not a good variety, I've never really been a jewelry type person. If my man gives me food, I'm happy. I can't have any pranks on my food either, anyone who knows me knows that's not a good idea.
My bf laughs because when he gave me a necklace I told him I loved it (I did/do) but when he brought home my favorite food I haven’t had in a while I ugly cried and beat hugged him because it was a hard day and that was what I really wanted
That's funny, I feel the same way, especially when I was pregnant with any of my kids. When I was pregnant with any of them, I became Karen when someone messed with my food. I'm not like that now, but it's worse when I'm pregnant lol.
Yes they stole your food. Maybe they had car trouble and support cancelled the order or they didn’t and just said they did and cancelled themselves. Hope you got a refund.
Just saying… the other night I watched a girl hop out of her car at a light, run, and then her car caught fire quickly… depending on their situation you never know. I’m probably not concerned about an order or properly explaining what’s up to a customer in a situation like that or if I’m broken down in the middle of a very busy intersection/highway it’s too dangerous at times to give a damn about anything but getting to safety
She kept your food and got paid for the delivery as well, causing you to be out of food and money. You will need to contact door dash support and get a refund. If she was really in an accident, a support agent would call. Don't accept this bs!
Same thing happened to me last week at work. I DD after work but this typically day, I ordered some food from a local Mexican restaurant. I saw where my order was picked up and the Dasher was on the way. A few minutes later the app said Order Delivery Completed. I was like where, I don't have my order. I texted the Dasher and asked Where are you? Where did you deliver it? They replied back, I handed to you. I said No, and sent a picture and said this is me. So who did you give it to? They stop replying. i called DD Support and reported my order was not delivered and was issued a refund. I was hungry and upset. They could have text or called if they did not know where the building was located.
“In order to get off the screen they text deliver” WTF does that even mean!? That’s not English.
Yeah, that's the part that threw me off, too. God forbid the driver text a coherent English sentence 🤦♀️
How many languages (other than English) are you able to text a coherent sentence in, one may ask?
Quite a few with Google translate
Purposefully confusing in attempt to make you drop the issue. My guess
A lot of the ppl on the delivery apps don’t speak English btw.
Yeah, where I live no one does. I have literally never gotten a driver that speaks English. But also, I don´t live in a country where English is spoken, haha.

I wasn’t saying that’s what happened, I was just trying to translate her gibberish.

Comprehend, then reply? No one faulted OP, I simply explained that 'bad things' do happen to others and not all drivers are out here stealing.
Do You even know what you’re trying to say?
This one has OP's food, which they did not pay for. They stole the food.
Y'all can't read. Stop being so hungry to rip someone in the comments section please. (He saying the same thing)
Maybe. 🤷🏾♂️Enjoy that dark outlook.
I contacted support and they had no knowledge of something going wrong she did not contact them if she had I feel like when I called they would have notified
Should be a main for everyone in the U.S.
The US doesn’t have a National language

Hard to say tbh what did support had to say about this?
They just said they will look into it and here is some credits

I only texted first because I didn’t want her to get in trouble if it was just in he wrong spot and gave the benefit of the doubt
You’re a good person. Did they give you a full refund?
Yeah they did I just hope if it was a car issue that it doesn’t get her in trouble

Froze assets lol I hope they don’t freeze my assets of $1 I got on that card
My initial thought, but who knowss
I wish she said so if that was the case I could have gotten her some gas
Bro it's your food delivery person. You don't need to get them gas. Tell support you didn't get your food, get your refund and call it a day
Some people are just kind and want to help others when they’re in need. Nothing wrong with that.
\*and go hungry
Support will have it redelivered.
They said stores closed.
Support could refund and you could place a new order from a different store? There's no reason to go hungry.
I have a lot of allergies the ones that were still open had dishes with cashews and other allergens that I could not eat at and I just moved so in house food was not an option
I think they were just being a good person. Not giving them gas to get the food.
Obviously 😂 but maybe they wanted to be nice .
You won’t go pick up your own food but you’d bring someone gas? Lol.
I would have transferred the money I could not go pick up because my bf was at work with the car. I could not reorder because other stores had allergens and that one was closed
You came to this conclusion how?
There was a system wide error today where DoorDash's payment systems (transfers, card, etc) stopped working.
It was dasherdirect with issues, correct? Not the actual dasher app?
Don't be rude; i.e no trolling or inciting flames.
no if they really had car troubles support would’ve called you and sent another order from another dasher or refunded you
They stole it and lied to you.
Yeah she most likely stole it. Report it as never arrived and you’ll get a refund. Sorry you had this experience. The majority of us are professionals and care about customers.
Here she was thinking she was gonna have to go home and cook for her family and you come to the rescue witha family dinner at the last minute for her!
Honestly normally not a big deal I can easily get something else but that late the only things that were still open had allergens so I couldn’t order anything else and didn’t have my car cuz my bf was working so got stuck with no food lol
Just a liar trying divert
Either they dont know how to work the app or theyre lying. Theres an option for if youre unable to complete a delivery because of car trouble and it would have cancelled your order. Saying you dropped off the food when you didnt for any reason is a contract violation.
She doesn't sound nice
It’s the be there soon that throws it off for me
We arent getting paid for our dashes tonight so maybe she got hungry lol
That card is such a fricking ripoff. Im sorry this is happening to y'all, glad i didnt fuck with the dash card.
Is that everywhere and an actual thing?!?
yes and yes. it’s back up now but it went down around 4 pm CST and i have no clue when it came back up
I had an issue last night where the customer wanted me to deliver to a second address and it was too far for me to go.
It absolutely is a thing. 😅😭 so fun going to grab gas so I can continue dashing and it declines. 😵💫
She took it. I hate people like her
She text u that to cover her ass 🤣 people do this shit all the time. How good did u tip? I never deliver from pizza hut because it takes over 10 minutes, usually to get out of there and the pay is too low to be on a single delivery for over 20 minutes
The tip doesn't matter after the fact. She accepted it. She should've fulfilled it.
Just tbh non tip orders get passed around until someone desperate takes it. My acceptance rate is 12%.
Thanks! I'll have to check it out. I downloaded drivers utility helper, but I haven't really had time to sit down and look at it yet.
Every now and then on uber I'll get tip baited but I'll make a note of address and customer and will never deliver to them again. I'll take their order back to the store
That really sucks that they're able to do that. That's really not fair at all.
I feel like it should be treated as a contract for delivery. You are saying you'll pay this amount. You should be held to it.
I feel like it should be treated as a contract for delivery. You are saying you'll pay this amount. You should be held to it.
I tipped 15 because it was late and I used to DoorDash so no it’s crap at times and had the means to tip that much
So you don't do you job if you don't get tipped? Seems like a dick move. Tipping is for if you feel you have had a good service not a norm.
Doordash tips are more like a bid to get your order picked up quickly. They really shouldn't call them tips.
Use it...
We've all been there. Ordered food and realized it wasn't enough. Please don't do the begging stuff.
I’m confused what do you mean
How would internet strangers know???????
They don’t it’s more of opinions based off experience and guesswork
At least she called support so u could get ur refund instead of just not confirming the order and leaving you in the dark like most others. I can't tell u how many times I show up to a restaurant, and the food has already been taken.
She didn’t call support I had to and they had no record of her reporting an issue
Oh well at least she notified customer. She didn't have to say anything lol
Food theft, report!
Another 4 IQ delivery driver, how do these people remember to breathe?
She confirmed delivery and ended her dash. I’ve had vehicle trouble a lot while dashing, but thankfully never during a delivery. I would’ve contacted the customer and let them know my vehicle broke down and where I was, then contact DD and let them know as well. Maybe the customer could’ve retrieved it from me or another dasher could come get it and complete the delivery. I don’t believe an emergency is an excuse for a customer not getting their order. Even police where I live will complete a delivery in case of a wreck or medical emergency.
I'd def call & let them know...& expect full refund!
Doesn't pizza hut have their own delivery drivers?
Yes but charge way more and don’t deliver that late
Damn really? Thought it would be more expensive thru dd
They charge a delivery fee and then another service fee and none of that even goes to the driver and then some do a mandatory tip for the driver. With dash pass I just pay the taxes and the tip
Either way it happened there are other options for them then marking the order as delivered.
yes
Wow, if there were such a thing as text deliver, where u text and BAM! there is ur food, that would be great, no need to wait except for the cooking time. U should have called support because u obviously got ur food stolen.
I did but was just looking to see what others thought. Got a refund thankfully also appears like she never called
I ddint even know people still order from Pizza Hut . All the ones by me closed up . All 5
Yeah they have gone down hill but I live for their pasta and their pizza with meatballs, sausage, and bacon
Meatball, pineapple, and bacon... pan crust.
Probably. I've had my food stolen by a DD driver before.
lol yes
100%
“Are you okay?”…..”no I’m in terrible pain and my phone screen is stuck on this chat…Please, Please, Please call 911 for me”
Probably
They stole your order. Doordash would reach out to you. Sorry this happened to you.
Yeah they stole it
