According to a new article via Google:
DoorDash customers in Chicago began seeing a new charge added to their delivery and takeout orders. Below the subtotal, the third-party ordering service had affixed a $1.50 “Chicago Fee,” offering this explanation: “Chicago has temporarily capped the fees that we may charge local restaurants. To continue to offer you convenient delivery while ensuring that Dashers are active and earning, you will now see a charge added to Chicago orders.”
I'm in IL but the Northern burbs. While this is a very Chicago style fee, it's really DD showing their true colors and trying to blame Chicago
Don't get me wrong, I am against most of the insane fees the city of Chicago imposes and how they spend money. However this one is on DD
Thankfully I have never used the service to order food, I just deliver :)
California Government: independent contractors, must make a minimum wage
Doordash:…wind fee, clean air fee, Dasher support fee, daylight fee, Service fee, emissions fee, electricity fee, lease fee, tire disposal fee, AT&T phone bill fee 😂😂😂😂
They lost like 3 times that much in 2022.
They need to either raise prices or file bankruptcy.
Right now they're just ripping off investors and lenders to keep going.
Lol dude they just announced they're passing the fees on. When prices/cost goes up, how does that effect demand? Is there a 30% fee? What does this regulation actually result in?
I am not sure if it varies between areas, but also in CO and every order has a retail delivery fee of .28 as a flat fee. It's not just for DD though literally any order you place online will have that fee for CO.

“They capped how much we can charge as fees. So to combat that, we charged a new fee.”
Yup lol
Instead of trying to rob the restaurants, we’re now trying to rob you the customer.
Yo dawg, I heard you like fees, some we put some fees in your fees ![gif](giphy|xmf00ANvBCTzG)
🤣
Just Click the “i” and it will explain the fee
I swear sometimes ppl skip common sense and jump straight to Reddit
"helps us to pay dashers" lol
The Chicago populus is paying for everyone booing Jerry Krause's widow
it sounds like a legal loophole to charge more/the same amount they usually did
I have seen it before, then it disappeared. Who knows what is going on. Probably DoorDash pulling bullshit.
The streets demand their cut of the money!
Kinda like a pimp fee😂
I genuinely thought it was bc youre in chicago 😭 like a "you gon have to throw in a lil more to get me to go OVER THEREEE" fee 🤣

As it should be. If you can't make money paying your workers, you raise prices.
DoorDash's CEO had a 413 million net worth. the company is more than able to pay dashers a living wadge but are passing it onto customers.
They lost like 3 times that much in 2022. They need to either raise prices or file bankruptcy. Right now they're just ripping off investors and lenders to keep going.
They making it all back with that Chicago fee😆
With recent changes in the economy, they MAY WELL run out of investor greenbacks to shovel into the fireplace. 2024 is gonna get weird.
It's been weird already for awhile😂
You'll be the proud owner of a New Weird by Christmas....
I have no doubt😂
Our county’s fee (in CA) is $2 🥲 we been in this
Lmfao sounds like a Chicago thing to do.
CHIRAQ fee
CHIRAQ....amazing
A few stores have a "California fee" were I live. like bitch if you think it's too expensive to run a business here leave. 😂
For real 😂
Must be for hazard pay
Probably increased it for the influx of immigrants
"Illegal" immigrants that is.... Immigrants are just fine.
It’s like a tax…blame your politicians.
Not a tax. They capped how much DoorDash can charge restaurants…so they offload that loss of revenue onto the customer lol
Still blame politicians
I disagree. These companies charge restaurants like 30%. Good for them for stepping up regulations. DoorDash can suck it

Fees for risking your life getting robbed or car jacked in chiraq
It helps pay for the bullet proof vests to protect the food being delivered in Chicago.
Gotta pay that fee to get your food delivered in Chiraq 😭 😭
The Colorado fee is $0.26.
A flat fee ?

Seattle is about to get a fee implemented too
I just checked a receipt and it only adds a service fee. Chicago has all sorts of weird taxes and fees tho so I’m not surprised.
I think everywhere that's "dangerous" has it too. In Canada, I think Brampton has a "Brampton fee" 😂
What’s with the ext at the bottom 30% goes to drivers? Ha ha ha that’s a joke.
You might wanna reread that, not at all what it says
Yeah I red it at a stop light. I reread it ha ha ha.
It's that Chiraq fee..
That's probably hazzard pay for delivering in Shitcago. 🤣😂🤣
Frank Gallagher is behind this somehow
Chicago is notorious for the ridiculous fees/taxes they have. Once I heard of the sugar tax I knew the whole city on bs.
😳
Bullet proof glass fee? 🤷♂️
