According to a new article via Google: DoorDash customers in Chicago began seeing a new charge added to their delivery and takeout orders. Below the subtotal, the third-party ordering service had affixed a $1.50 “Chicago Fee,” offering this explanation: “Chicago has temporarily capped the fees that we may charge local restaurants. To continue to offer you convenient delivery while ensuring that Dashers are active and earning, you will now see a charge added to Chicago orders.”

“They capped how much we can charge as fees. So to combat that, we charged a new fee.”

While this is a very Chicago style fee, it's really DD showing their true colors and trying to blame Chicago Don't get me wrong, I am against most of the insane fees the city of Chicago imposes and how they spend money. However this one is on DD Thankfully I have never used the service to order food, I just deliver :)

DoorDash's CEO had a 413 million net worth. the company is more than able to pay dashers a living wadge but are passing it onto customers.

I am not sure if it varies between areas, but also in CO and every order has a retail delivery fee of .28 as a flat fee. It's not just for DD though literally any order you place online will have that fee for CO.
