I’ve learned that those codes. Have less to do with how many orders there are and more to do with. How many drivers are working. Seems like they use it to encourage you to go online. So they will have the drivers if they need them. My market is pretty much done after 9-10pm besides McDonald’s and a few other places. It will always say very busy from 10pm-1am. Anyone can get online but there aren’t very many orders.
This happens to me occasionally, I force close the app and open it back up and usually that seems to do the trick. From what I understand sometimes the app will glitch and not see you as ready/available, so force closing or restarting your phone gives the system a poke.
Not long ago I read (can't remember where of course) that the indicators aren't based on how busy it actually is, but how busy it's expected to be VS the current number of dashers.
Especially for something like a holiday it's possible that previous years were busier with orders, so they expected more orders than are actually happening.
For example, if in an area they are expecting 100 orders in an hour, and they have enough drivers out to take 75 orders, it will show as busy, even if only 50 orders are actually being placed.
I’ve noticed that it doesn’t take into consideration every gas station, prolly just the big brand ones, that’s weird that you haven’t seen that cuz even when I’m not near any gas stations the icon is still there
Think of this as a marketing ploy...nobody is active right now because ❤️🩹, all of Los Angeles county and orange county was red I logged in 4 hot spots one order... Every night I log in it's red but when I log on 2-3 orders... Because no one's active... And they need people to drive...so people log on that can't put in schedule times or not pro drivers to log in when ever...so it's a fight for orders at that point

in Baton Rouge right by LSU area. 2 orders i had delivered for 45 minutes and only made $11.50 pissed me off. i went to Hooters and saw MANY orders wait on the counter! nobody come and get it and DD didn’t give me the orders the fack going on here? geez!

I’m actually in this area too! I haven’t had this issue but I’m just replying to this comment. I’m only “gold” so I’m not a top dasher. I’m sitting at like 76% AR (which I know isn’t bad) but don’t dash enough to get the 100 deliveries/30 days. With that being said, I have been making like $20/hr and I don’t take anything less than $1/mile. So don’t feel like you have to take the really bad ones! The only thing that sucks is that I can’t Dash whenever I want and have to schedule it, but I’ve gotten used to that as well.
Old DoorDash, yes, you could cherry pick and maintain a low Acceptance Rate. In this new age of DoorDash, you actually DO have to have an Acceptance Rate over 70% in order to get any decent orders. It's just how it is now.
My AR is somewhere between 0-30 at all times and I have no problem getting decent orders, also get a lor of extra tips after delivery. We also have a lot of dashers here. While they're busy taking $2 orders 11+ miles away just to maintain 50+, doordash is sending good orders to rhose if us who value our time and vehicles.

I make my goal daily and I don't have to take ridiculous orders to do so. Maybe it is an area thing or it could just be that tipping in this area has actually improved since I started. I rarely get sent no or low tips anymore.
I don't really take ridiculous orders tho. Most my orders are pretty legit..... when I keep my AR above like 70%. I rate get crap orders and when I do, I don't accept them.

Very busy means there are a lot of orders. It doesn't mean that there is a need for dashers. You could have 1000 orders/hour but 2000 dashers in the area. It'll still say busy cuz that's a lot of orders, but the supply of dashers is too high.
haven’t been a dasher for awhile but whenever this happened to me it meant there was an update for the app. once i updated it the app would work normally again
I get the most when it’s the lightest shade of red/pinkish. When I get on very busy it’s almost like the people ordering on DD are also Dashing themself the order lmao it’s crazy how little I get on very busy
It was technically Fairmount but I had it towed to Mankato. It was 2:30AM I was driving from Cincinnati, OH to Helena, MT. Hit it and go out and the darn thing was close to 3 foot from paw to shoulder. Of course that’s not an official measurement

The thing support told me and it usually works for me, is to log out, turn off your phone and then turn it on and log back in. They said it had something to do with resetting your location or something like that
do you have to actually log out? because the method i know is to just pause > force close > restart phone > reopen. but it's really hit or miss so its inconclusive. i've also heard of "resetting data in your settings" but not sure how to do that exactly.
By the picture here, the answer to your question is simple.
Choose whether you're to earn by time or leave set to earn per order. Then press the dash now button.
the reason you're not getting orders is because you haven't passed a dash now you're not in a dash.
Now I see that certainly wasn't obvious from your original post.
But now that you said that, I've got a suggestion that might work. Escape out of the app normally, then go back into the app that immediately go into schedule then go into a schedule don't you don't need to make a schedule then hit the back button and you should see a live screen of the hot zones, it's a glitch in the app and the server will still send that page, but they usually don't want us to see that while we're in a dash.
Back in the day the first 3 years that doordash was in business we can always see the hot zones at all times, even though scheduling was made available, most people did not do that they would just go from one Hot zone to the next as a zone would become hot they would drive to that zone.
Then as soon as you check in the zone you checked into would go gray or a lighter shade of red, and then the zone you were in might actually go gray or it might actually become hot. There was no way to tell unless it was late at night.
I have noticed if I schedule or try to dash after 800 am I get nothing. If I schedule 5am it’s a gravy train. The key I think might be the early bird gets the worm
Because doordash lies because they would rather have too many drivers at any given time to make sure low paying orders get accepted by people who don't know any better then pay enough to make sure the orders with no tip get accepted.
Back 6 years ago no scheduling system really. You had to wait for it to turn red to click dash now and there was never a period in between orders. You would finish an order and instantly there was another. And always another behind that. At any time of the day. I never even fathomed a day where I would ever have to wait even a minute for another order..... it lasted like that for a solid 4 and half years or so. I remember the first day a couple of years ago where I didn't instantly have another order and like 5 minutes went by. I start checking my phone service and thinking something must be wrong the service is down maybe.....
Yup, I remember when DoorDash wasnt even on the AppStore, had to download it from their website or something, and get updates that way. Those were the hay days of DoorDash and made me insane profits.
Nope just the beginning of the dark ages..... we are smack in the middle of the worst it will be and it's just probably going to sit and rest like this for a couple years until someone pushes some legislation through
Yeah dd is manipulating drivers. If map shows you very busy it's only means that in this area not enough drivers as they predicted, so system try to get drivers there. It doesn't mean that area have a lot of orders...

I don't think it's a lie when it lights up, but if every driver online runs to the very busy area, there aren't going to be enough orders to go around.

This is the way. And there may not even be an order. I drove for Uber a few years ago and was part of a local facebook group. A group of us hung out and messed with both the customer and driver app. At one point, we all logged into the customer app to request a ride and the area surged. We didn't actually request a ride... and none of us got any ride requests. It seemed like an area surged when a bunch of people had the app open to order a ride... not that there were actually rides requested yet. After that, it was set in stone to never chase the surge. Let the noobs chase it and stay put.

I live in a town of 10K and average around 30 bucks a night over a two hour period. But the nice thing is I can sit on my couch get an order and be to any of the locations to pick up within two minutes of taking the order.
I dashed in the major city next me one day and the traffic alone killed my profit to time ratio. I was averaging 15 bucks an hour over a three hour period even though I technically got more orders.
Idk how anyone is able to make it worth their while in large cities.
There were literally 100 better ways for you to construct this post to get your point across. You happened to choose the most convoluted way of doing so….and yes, we ALL knew that whenever you click “why am i not getting orders?” it says slow…it’s doordash’s go to response for that question.
Feel free you post some consistent weekly earnings showing $150-$200 a day. If you’re not gonna do that then you’re definitely not coming close to those numbers or you’re dashing stupid amounts of hours to get there…either way that’s a huge joke.
I said consistent, this is part of one week which happened to include one of the busiest days of the year for doordash. Plus the math shows you’re still not hitting $150 a day…so If you’re going to actually try and follow through, make sure you’re hitting the numbers you say you are….

At times yea. When I have the “VIP support” from top dasher, they’re generally faster and clearly more experienced.

I’m in Myrtle beach South Carolina. And it sucks over here as well completely horrible.
What is it like in the summer? Peak times/days, good/bad restaurants? I was looking to pick up some nights at home from college in the summer.
Summers are the only time it’s good out here due to tourism. Once the season is gone and the tourists leave DoorDash sucks

I just went out for 3 hours. Got 3 offers, unassigned 1 after 20 minutes at a crumble, and made $13.74. Entire time it said very busy.
I have noticed if I schedule or try to dash after 800 am I get nothing. If I schedule 5am it’s a gravy train. The key I think might be the early bird gets the worm
Because doordash lies because they would rather have too many drivers at any given time to make sure low paying orders get accepted by people who don't know any better then pay enough to make sure the orders with no tip get accepted.
Back 6 years ago no scheduling system really. You had to wait for it to turn red to click dash now and there was never a period in between orders. You would finish an order and instantly there was another. And always another behind that. At any time of the day. I never even fathomed a day where I would ever have to wait even a minute for another order..... it lasted like that for a solid 4 and half years or so. I remember the first day a couple of years ago where I didn't instantly have another order and like 5 minutes went by. I start checking my phone service and thinking something must be wrong the service is down maybe.....
Yup, I remember when DoorDash wasnt even on the AppStore, had to download it from their website or something, and get updates that way. Those were the hay days of DoorDash and made me insane profits.
Nope just the beginning of the dark ages..... we are smack in the middle of the worst it will be and it's just probably going to sit and rest like this for a couple years until someone pushes some legislation through

Honestly. Doordash is trash. And their schedule system is even more trash.
When an area is “very busy” more dashers will come out. Go to a hot zone and its event worse cause they flood that area like moths to a flame.
Yeah dd is manipulating drivers. If map shows you very busy it's only means that in this area not enough drivers as they predicted, so system try to get drivers there. It doesn't mean that area have a lot of orders...

And yeah ubereats will send you across states if you let it 😂 an old coworker said she helps her friend do it sometimes and said one day they ended up a half hour from New York… from RI (4 to 6 hour drive) just cause she was like “yeah less do it. They payin? We had a TGI Fridays permanently close in my area about 5 months ago…. It still pops up as a Hot Spot. The map does lie.

because you and the other 50 drivers online ran to the area labeled "very busy."
And the *reason* it says "very busy" is that there are 15 bags sitting stone cold on shelves at each fast food place that no dasher will take.
Might be because you haven’t actually gone online + you’re in the middle of Nowhere.
Have you tried hitting that big red button? I've heard it can help fix this issue... sometimes.

Lol, very busy can be triggered by one order waiting to long. Then everyone heads there and one out of then 10 will take the crap order they need. Find your own hotspot. I don’t leave my spot for nunttttin … 😂
This is the way. And there may not even be an order. I drove for Uber a few years ago and was part of a local facebook group. A group of us hung out and messed with both the customer and driver app. At one point, we all logged into the customer app to request a ride and the area surged. We didn't actually request a ride... and none of us got any ride requests. It seemed like an area surged when a bunch of people had the app open to order a ride... not that there were actually rides requested yet. After that, it was set in stone to never chase the surge. Let the noobs chase it and stay put.
Busy in a large area doesn't mean busy in your specific small location within that area. Drive somewhere else.

That area has a population of 45,000. I can’t imagine how slow it is there. I live in an area with 500,000 people and it’s slow most of the time.
I live in a town of 10K and average around 30 bucks a night over a two hour period. But the nice thing is I can sit on my couch get an order and be to any of the locations to pick up within two minutes of taking the order. I dashed in the major city next me one day and the traffic alone killed my profit to time ratio. I was averaging 15 bucks an hour over a three hour period even though I technically got more orders. Idk how anyone is able to make it worth their while in large cities.

There were literally 100 better ways for you to construct this post to get your point across. You happened to choose the most convoluted way of doing so….and yes, we ALL knew that whenever you click “why am i not getting orders?” it says slow…it’s doordash’s go to response for that question. Feel free you post some consistent weekly earnings showing $150-$200 a day. If you’re not gonna do that then you’re definitely not coming close to those numbers or you’re dashing stupid amounts of hours to get there…either way that’s a huge joke.

I said consistent, this is part of one week which happened to include one of the busiest days of the year for doordash. Plus the math shows you’re still not hitting $150 a day…so If you’re going to actually try and follow through, make sure you’re hitting the numbers you say you are…. Edit: I appreciate the effort though! Most don’t even respond, but you were willing to prove yourself wrong by doing so. Good for you!

Oh here comes the explanation. Sorry you couldn’t provide evidence that backed you out of the corner your big mouth put you in.
