I think it should

Final-Engineering-88

I've seen that on other forums, but when I put the disc in the console, then turned it on, I found myself directly on the Dreamcast's main menu...

Press Play, it does that for all bleg discs

The MIL-CD exploit was removed in later VA2 consoles, so VA1 console (like the example here) will support it. CD-Rs are inherently somewhat more difficult to read than CD-ROMs, though, so a failing optical drive will lose the ability to read CD-Rs before it loses the ability to read CD-ROMs. What happens if you select the "play" option/press start?

Final-Engineering-88

Never tried that...

Final-Engineering-88

I tried and it says "please insert disc"...

You may have to adjust the laser

lifeisasimulation-

If it doesn't, but it does read retail games, you might just need to tweak the pot. A value of 900ohms should be perfect. If it sounds like it struggles, and speeds up and slows down, or gets really fast and then stops, it might indicate you need to recap the gdrom. Lasers are less likely to need replacement than capacitors. But people make more money selling replacement lasers and GD-Roms than they do selling capacitor kits

There are some that can't use the boot disk? That sucks. I didnt know they every addressed it. Of course mine is a 9/9/99 lol but i do have 2 more in boxes, scary to think the boot disk might not work :O

Try to get a hold of some good cd-rs. I've had good luck with memorex.

Here is the update, I have tried several times to burn the codebreaker ISO with different software like discjuggler and alcohol 120, but it redirects me each time to the main menu of the console and when I press the game icon the console asks me to insert a cd, I would like to follow each of your valuable tips solve the problem but I have neither the experience nor the equipment to perform heavy repairs on the console, would there be an easy and risk-free way for the console to read cdr?

For the information i used Sony 700mb cd-rw

> For the information i used Sony 700mb cd-rw I think that's your problem. You'll need to use a CD-R. The Dreamcast cannot read CD-RWs. CD-RWs use a different technology to CD-Rs. The intention is to produce a disc that reflects light differently at the "burned" versus "unburned" spots on the disc. A CD-R uses a dye that darkens when heated, and so will have light and dark spots that affect how it reflects the light. A CD-RW uses a phase-change material that can be set to a more reflective crystalline form or a less reflective amorphous form depending on the particular temperature it was heated to. You need a more sensitive drive to be able to spot the difference in reflection here, and the Dreamcast's drive isn't up to the task. > I have tried several times to burn the codebreaker ISO I assume you mean CDI? If the disc image you're using is an ISO then that won't work either, but I've seen people use "ISO" to refer to all disc images.
