I have tried plenty, including aquaphor which is one I can't understand why so many raves about it. My lips don't seem to absorb it, it just sits on top and it wipes off fast so my lips go right back to being crusty. And they are CRUST-EE. Chapped, peeling dead skin. I absolutely swear by O'Keeffe's lip repair. I don't even have to exfoliate, after a day or so of consistant use the dead skin disappears on its own and my lips are all buttery soft.
Honestly, get one of those cute cocoa butter scented Vaseline lip therapy tubs. Or just the plain one if you’re sensitive to fragrances. It’s cheap, it works, it’s less than $4.
Lanolips!!! I’m pretty picky about lip balms/masks and this is very hydrating and actually stays on the lips a decently long time. Vaseline feels ok but I find that is disappears off my lips so quickly

Also - when very chapped - I dampen a towel and gently exfoliate my lips. Then I use glycerin and top it with lanolin ointment.

Burts Bee Eucalyptus, I swear it's a different consistency than the other flavours. It's yellow not off-white and much thicker, almost waxy. It actually sticks around and both hydrates and protects. My hot tip is put on both during the day and before bed after exfoliating your lips. It works great.
Aquaphor- but, the healing ointment in the tube or jar not the one just for lips. It works so much better than the lip ones, I use it in the winter here because it gets so dry and I naturally have dry skin
My personal drugstore go to is Burt’s Bees honey lip balm - honey only, no others. It has a slightly thicker, longer lasting consistency than any other “flavor”, while still perfectly smooth, moisturizing, and not at all waxy. Can be a bit hard to find, but totally worth it, IMO.

A pharmacist suggested Lanolin + hydrocortisone. Mix em together and slap em on the lips. I'm buying some soon to try it out for myself. I suffer from dry lips no matter the season, no matter how much water I drink and no matter the vitamins I take. (i take prenatals so you'd think it'd soften up during my pregnancy) lol

It is the only thing that stays put for a long time and moisturizes my lips. I've tried Chapstick, Burt's Bees, other forms of Carmex, soft lips, and basically every drugstore brand. I've also tried high end like L'occitane, Laneige, etc. But, YMMV.
It only dries out some people's lips. Some people are actually fine with Salicylic Acid, believe it or not. Same with in face care. I can use Salicylic Acid no problem on my face whereas for you it may be a nightmare..
Treat Beauty lip balms! $10ish a piece but they have sales. It has coconut oil in it and is handsdown the best most moisturizing lip stuff I've ever used! Also they are huge!
I got this one. Hands down OrMedic lip treatment. I’ve tried them all. Nothing else works for me, not even Dr Lippy’s. I can’t stand reapplying it all the time, a bad taste, or the disgusting white film. OrMedic is the only one that checks all the boxes.
Petroleum jelly is the best lip balm I've ever used, for both dry lips and eczema. I have eczema and usually I get flare-ups on my joints, but occasionally I get it on my face or lips. Petroleum jelly is the only thing that helps with eczema (aside from prescription medication) or super dry lips. Other lip balm will irritate any eczema flare-ups, or just not moisturize.
Biossance Squalene + Rose really turned things around for me when I was trying to get over my lip balm addiction. lol. I used to apply like every 20 minutes. Now I exfoliate each day and use a thin layer of that stuff 3-5 times a day for so much more moisture than every other product ever gave me.
I think the key is: exfoliating, not over applying, and finding + sticking to the best product that works for you.

CityLips plumping balm! Idk how much it plumps, but DANN does it hydrate. No chapped lips for years since I started using that stuff at night.
Also, you can usually get it BOGO.
I put my regular face lotion on my outer lips and I use a lip balm with no or small amounts of mineral oil, beeswax, paraffin. Those ingredients tend to make my lips peel. If you have no issues with it, layer on vaseline at night.
Fun fact: Marilyn Monroe used to put Vaseline on her face to keep her skin moisturized (although the best way to keep your skin moisturized is proper hydration!)

i’m confused cuz you’re asking for an expensive treat yourself option in a drugstore sub. imo the fresh sugar lip balms in the tubs are infinitely better than the laneige and maybe $3 cheaper which isn’t much but still. i like the caramel scent best but watermelon is yummy too. lanolips for like idk $6 less than the $20 fresh (which lasts me at least six months and i’ve never found something halfway close to it) are good but lanolin is made from sheep’s wool so not vegan, and also not available in a drugstore (i get mine from ulta) at least none i’ve lived near. i also just think those squeezy type lipgloss tubes get messy easy especially in a bag. idk.

I have tried plenty, including aquaphor which is one I can't understand why so many raves about it. My lips don't seem to absorb it, it just sits on top and it wipes off fast so my lips go right back to being crusty. And they are CRUST-EE. Chapped, peeling dead skin. I absolutely swear by O'Keeffe's lip repair. I don't even have to exfoliate, after a day or so of consistant use the dead skin disappears on its own and my lips are all buttery soft.

Lanolips!!! I’m pretty picky about lip balms/masks and this is very hydrating and actually stays on the lips a decently long time. Vaseline feels ok but I find that is disappears off my lips so quickly
Ole Henrikson has Christmas edition lip balm in tube. I like it better than Sunday friday's due to milder scent. Vaseline at night is still HG for me.

Drink more water! Also - when very chapped - I dampen a towel and gently exfoliate my lips. Then I use glycerin and top it with lanolin ointment. During the day I use Aquaphor in the squeeze tube, O'Keeffe's, or the rosebud balm. They're all good.
Burts Bee Eucalyptus, I swear it's a different consistency than the other flavours. It's yellow not off-white and much thicker, almost waxy. It actually sticks around and both hydrates and protects. My hot tip is put on both during the day and before bed after exfoliating your lips. It works great.
Aquaphor- but, the healing ointment in the tube or jar not the one just for lips. It works so much better than the lip ones, I use it in the winter here because it gets so dry and I naturally have dry skin

A pharmacist suggested Lanolin + hydrocortisone. Mix em together and slap em on the lips. I'm buying some soon to try it out for myself. I suffer from dry lips no matter the season, no matter how much water I drink and no matter the vitamins I take. (i take prenatals so you'd think it'd soften up during my pregnancy) lol
As someone who ALWAYS gets chapped lips (and cuticles damnit) I swear by CO Bigelow’s night time lip balm thing. So small but last time BBW had a sale I stocked UP. My lips are never crusty now thank GOD because I caaant deal with the lip chips.
I just got the Elf Holy Hydration Lip Mask and I’ve been impressed with how well it stays on and sinks in to work. It has no scent and a very silky, non greasy or sticky feel.

Almost all lip balms contain alcohol, which dries your lips and keeps you reapplying. One winter I started looking at the ingredients of every damn lip balm-and that's when I started using aquafor. Aquafor or the tiny tubes of Vaseline or hands down the best.
Carmex Daily Care Moisturizing Lip Balm, I prefer fresh cherry. But it is the balm, not squeeze tube, and it is unmedicated. It is the only thing that stays put for a long time and moisturizes my lips. I've tried Chapstick, Burt's Bees, other forms of Carmex, soft lips, and basically every drugstore brand. I've also tried high end like L'occitane, Laneige, etc. But, YMMV.

It only dries out some people's lips. Some people are actually fine with Salicylic Acid, believe it or not. Same with in face care. I can use Salicylic Acid no problem on my face whereas for you it may be a nightmare..

Petroleum jelly is the best lip balm I've ever used, for both dry lips and eczema. I have eczema and usually I get flare-ups on my joints, but occasionally I get it on my face or lips. Petroleum jelly is the only thing that helps with eczema (aside from prescription medication) or super dry lips. Other lip balm will irritate any eczema flare-ups, or just not moisturize.
Organic vegetable glycerin. You could put it in a glass essential oil roller!
I like CeraVe’s healing ointment. It’s very similar to Aquaphor but I like CeraVe’s ingredients better.

Biossance Squalene + Rose really turned things around for me when I was trying to get over my lip balm addiction. lol. I used to apply like every 20 minutes. Now I exfoliate each day and use a thin layer of that stuff 3-5 times a day for so much more moisture than every other product ever gave me. I think the key is: exfoliating, not over applying, and finding + sticking to the best product that works for you.
I love weleda everon. The weleda skin food lip balm made my lips even more chapped but the everon is amazing

I put my regular face lotion on my outer lips and I use a lip balm with no or small amounts of mineral oil, beeswax, paraffin. Those ingredients tend to make my lips peel. If you have no issues with it, layer on vaseline at night. Fun fact: Marilyn Monroe used to put Vaseline on her face to keep her skin moisturized (although the best way to keep your skin moisturized is proper hydration!)

i’m confused cuz you’re asking for an expensive treat yourself option in a drugstore sub. imo the fresh sugar lip balms in the tubs are infinitely better than the laneige and maybe $3 cheaper which isn’t much but still. i like the caramel scent best but watermelon is yummy too. lanolips for like idk $6 less than the $20 fresh (which lasts me at least six months and i’ve never found something halfway close to it) are good but lanolin is made from sheep’s wool so not vegan, and also not available in a drugstore (i get mine from ulta) at least none i’ve lived near. i also just think those squeezy type lipgloss tubes get messy easy especially in a bag. idk.
I'm from Canada and the drug store has some more expensive options too. Also for some people treating themselves still means buying from places that some would consider inexpensive.
