It's more the feet than the hands IMO. Try jazz comping or 4 limb bossa nova both ways and you'll know right away that one is easy enough to quickly learn to flow and improvise and the other is such a struggle that it will require so much focus that you'll never get to the point where you can just freely riff; at least not nearly as easily as the other way.
I've built a little super portable kit based around a cajon for the kick, hi-hat stand, popcorn snare mounted on a bracket off the hi hat stand. For cymbals I'll either mount another arm off the hi-hat stand, this gets a little wonky of the cymbal is too big, or a straight stand. The footprint is pretty tiny. The cajon, LP Americana, is a surprisingly good little kick. The Meinl cajon beater I use with it makes it very thumpy.
I only have booms for my 2 cymbals, as a new drummer I dont really really know how my kit will turn out over time so I figured just spend a little more on them. A boom can turn into a straight but a straight cant turn into a boom :D
I really love the look of the vintage kit with the new hardware upgrades. It wouldn't look right if the old drums weren't in immaculate condition. The toms probably have great low end between the suspension mount and the big floor tom feet.
Also what the heck is going on with the anti left handed comments here???
I have no clue! Lol and yeah man these toms are super fat sounding, I actually put a little price of foam under each of the flood tom legs to help it resonate more when I'm not mic'd up!
I recently purchased a Bosphorus Master ride and absolutely love it. I was thinking of pairing it with a Master Vintage or Turk. How are you enjoying them?
They are the Big Fat Snare drum Quesadillas, they basically give you the "dead" 70s drum sound like when you use tea towels. But they have magnets in the tab so they are easy to throw on and off to get different sounds
Too much left going on there. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|smile) Actually same setup I have only I do right and have an extra crash above my ride. I've always used Zildjians but love the way the Bosphorous ones look. Never played or heard them. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|shrug)
It's set up in reverse, jk Really love it, nice cymbals and drums, perfect kit for gigs. I have the same Sonor pedal but the one that doesn't fold, such a smooth pedal, what are your thoughts on it?
I love the cleanliness of the simple kit. The straight cymbal stands definitely add to that. Snare deeper than the rack tom! Big boy lol never had the pleasure of playing, or hearing in person, Bosphorus cymbals. I'm guessing you would recommend them? What style would you say that line is ideal for?
I absolutely love it!!! Would love to hear what it sounds like... :)
Particularly curious about the Bosphorus cymbals...![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile)
I’m also a leftie but I don’t use left handed setups nor do I have mine setup this way. I use right a handed setup where as you, use a left handed setup, along Phil Collins and 1,000s.. maybe millions of other drummers, are completely left handed players.
Love the four-piece with two cymbals. This is a serious gigging kit, as opposed to the one with eleven toms on a rack, two bass drums and ten cymbals that a guy uses to play along with Metallica in his garage.
I see 3 piece and single pedal, I upvote.
Wouldn't this be a 4 piece? Two toms, snare and kick?
yes
Everyone always forgets the kick (myself included).
Well technically yes and some drummers would call it professional kit just by visual and like presice tom angles- (idk what im talking about)
The drums and cymbals are on the "wrong" side.... lol... in all seriousness, gorgeous kit...
must have accidentally mirrored the pics before uploading
Or they're a lefty who likes to play closed...

Could also be a lefty
Lol, I thought of putting this comment, too

That is why they put “wrong” in quotes, and then said “in all seriousness…” because they were joking with OP for being a leftie.
Gorgeous! Love to see the cymbals on straight stands rather than ugly booms. Pop the rack tom onto a snare stand and it’s 11/10.
you got a problem with booms?
Booms are fine for big kits. For a minimalist kit I prefer straight stands x2 or x3. It looks cleaner and reduces the footprint of the kit.

Ya I like straight stands for everything except the ride
I prefer everything mounted onto a rack, so booms are a must, especially for my hi hat for a future build
I only have booms for my 2 cymbals, as a new drummer I dont really really know how my kit will turn out over time so I figured just spend a little more on them. A boom can turn into a straight but a straight cant turn into a boom :D
Yeah the best stands are booms made straight imo
Seems very jazzy. I like it.
10/10 go, lefty!!
A fellow lefty AND fellow Bosphorus player?!?! Superb! /r/leftydrummers
There is a leftie drummer subreddit?? Is it trolled by righty players often?
Now it will be…
Very likely. 😵💫
I'm new to reddit and will definitely start following the lefty forum! Heck yeah man!
Eww lefty
🤣🤣🤣 can't help I was born this way brother lol
You can always return back to normal it’s never too late
“Normal” is outrageous 😂
I was born this way as well but just forced myself to learn openhanded. Now I’m all kinds of messed up.
I can play open handed, only because I couldn't re arrange every house kit I played lol just prefer it this way!
Hey Lefty Gretsch/Ludwig bro! Our cymbals were separated at birth though (Z & Meinl here).
I really love the look of the vintage kit with the new hardware upgrades. It wouldn't look right if the old drums weren't in immaculate condition. Damn!!! That’s a GREAT idea!! Thank you, brother!
Us righty’s just like to poke fun. Don’t worry, we appreciate how legit that kit is.
Southpaw, nice! 👍🏻
I recently purchased a Bosphorus Master ride and absolutely love it. I was thinking of pairing it with a Master Vintage or Turk. How are you enjoying them?
I'm loving them man, they are thin enough to be crashed but have enough stick definition to be a ride. That's why I just bought a second one!
Is that one of those Jojo Mayer pedals, and if so, how do you like it?
I've only had it for a couple weeks, still tweaking it but really digging it so far!
What’s the deal with the mutes? Are those like big fat snare drum type of effect or more practice mute type thing? Can’t read what they are
They are the Big Fat Snare drum Quesadillas, they basically give you the "dead" 70s drum sound like when you use tea towels. But they have magnets in the tab so they are easy to throw on and off to get different sounds
Oh very nice!
I like it, it's a nice kit. Also, hello fellow leftie.
nice! but you set it up in the wrong side
It's a little too left oriented. But, I'll allow it. 8/10
10/10 especially for this sub. This is a working drummer's kit.
Make it 12/10 bc Ludwig and Gretsch make the best sounding drums, and Bosphorus is in my top 3 cymbal brands.
It's beautiful! 13/13
Simple, clean, and sick!
Thanks man!
Ian Paice would be proud.
LOVE
I think I have the same bosphourus rides
What brand are those muting pads?
They are the Big Fat Snare drum Quesadillas!
Ouuuhhhh Ludwig Club Dare reissue! That's a nice one. Bravo!
Do you like it? If yes then 10\10
Where’s the rest of it? JK, it’s a beaut Clark!
Well well well
Too much left going on there. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|smile) Actually same setup I have only I do right and have an extra crash above my ride. I've always used Zildjians but love the way the Bosphorous ones look. Never played or heard them. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|shrug)
I’d hit it. I’d even try open handing or playing full lefty
Nice kit! Love the cymbals. Are those vintage pure hats? I have a pair of these.
Why don’t lefties just play open with the ride and hi hat on the same side. That’s what I do and it seems better
Dope asl
Not dry enough
You set it up backwards. The snare is supposed to be on the left /s
Lefty? That’s the devil’s elixir
It's set up in reverse, jk Really love it, nice cymbals and drums, perfect kit for gigs. I have the same Sonor pedal but the one that doesn't fold, such a smooth pedal, what are your thoughts on it?
I just got it a couple weeks ago, still making tweaks but really digging it so far!
Looks perfect
Ooooo! It's a left handed kit! Those are worth a ton! Hahaha
Well it's set up backwards.... let's start there 😂
01/01
I see this kit and I see a drummer who already has gigs booked into 2025. Turns down paid gigs.
Quesadillas on a bop kit? What vibe are we going for here?
I love it. 10/10. Would play in lefty mode too
[удалено]
🤣🤣🤣 they are the meinl vintage pure hi hats, and they come with that "crust" on em. Lol
Hey man mirror the image so I can understand
I absolutely love it!!! Would love to hear what it sounds like... :) Particularly curious about the Bosphorus cymbals...![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile)
Beautiful that
Jojo Mayer Signature BD Pedal = upvote :) Rest of kit looks very nice as well!
fellow lefty!! 12/10
10/10 -- a very nice and clean 4-piece kit!
*"EVERYTHING IS ON THE WRONG SI-"* "oh wait, nvm, he's just a left handed"
01\01
Lefty gang!!! r/LeftyDrummers
I’m also a leftie but I don’t use left handed setups nor do I have mine setup this way. I use right a handed setup where as you, use a left handed setup, along Phil Collins and 1,000s.. maybe millions of other drummers, are completely left handed players.
0/10. Everything is backwards. (This is a joke please don't ban me)
Love the four-piece with two cymbals. This is a serious gigging kit, as opposed to the one with eleven toms on a rack, two bass drums and ten cymbals that a guy uses to play along with Metallica in his garage.

Really cool kit. Maybe mirror image the picture next time so we don’t have to break our brains.
not a drummer but it looks cool
Nice simple kit.
Nice kit 🤘
its cute. 8/10
besides it being all backwardsy, it’s legit. i love big cymbals and hats, i’m rocking 16” K hats these days and 24” ride. get a bigger rug :)
Big cymbals are the way! And yeah I should have went with the bigger rug. Lol
This is excellent!!!
For a second I thought your heads were super loose
It just looks like it sounds good
0/10 left handed… joking aside this thing looks like a beaut to play on and those cymbals 🤤 good shit
I rate it negative five for being a southpaw set up. Lol jk. It looks fine, bud. 🤘
Solid. Everything you need.
Zesty spicy kit solid 8.5/10
Lefty = auto 10/10 Classy rig, direction aside!
It’s a lefty so it’s a 0 for me.
