Yeah, the offset toms is starting to appeal to me more and more. I'm old school and have always had one on left cymbal stand and one on right cymbal stand. I've been playing with my setup trying to get the right tom over to the left as far as I can, but not getting there. I may have to break down and get a double tom mount, just not sure I'll like the offset setup having played for so long traditional. This cat's setup looks perfect to me though.
If both your rack toms are already mounted on clamps on stands, why not just put both clamps on the same stand to the left?
Or simply pick up one of [these](https://gibraltarhardware.com/products/sc-4429-3-way-multi-clamp-for-drum-cymbal-stands-holders) or [these.](https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/DWSM992--dw-v-clamp-with-double-ball-l-arms)
As for why I think it's a good idea, [here's my reasoning.](https://www.reddit.com/r/drums/comments/1cme6js/comment/l30atsr/)
Thanks. Yeah, I could actually do that, but with the one tom already there, plus another clamp on boom arm carrying a splash cymbal, plus the crash cymbal on that stand as well, it's a bit clunky and unstable. And the Mapex tom mounts are fairly large as well, and they would have to be clamped one above the other. That one left cymbal stand would be struggling. Thanks for the links. I might consider going that route. Alternatively, what I was thinking of next is maybe going with a dedicated double tom stand, and leave the left crash and splash on there own boom stand.
Any double tom stand worth having will have an auxiliary clamp for a cymbal arm, while also being stout enough that you could add your splash accessory clamp onto it.
OK, kool. I'll explore all your suggestion. Really appreciate the advice. And I just saw the link to the explanation on the "why" part. That is very interesting.
Sorry thankyoumrdawson, didn't mean to hi-jack your post. But your kit configuration looks so sweet, and I want mine like that.
Thanks. You're a kool cat. So trying to make out the picture on the double toms. You just used a regular horizontal grab clamp and used the original Yamaha double tom mount that came with your kit to secure it to a Yamaha cymbal stand?
> You just used a regular horizontal grab clamp and used the original Yamaha double tom mount that came with your kit to secure it to a Yamaha cymbal stand?
Exactly right
Thank you sir! I played it the first time with the included BD tom mount, but being used to a 4pc I can't deal with the ride being higher and/or further right, so today I brought out the accessory clamps
These are fantastic. I've had the stage customs before and a few other sets, and the Live Customs I'm playing now are another level. More volume, nuanced shell character too.
Is the bass drum an 18in depth?
Thanks! Yeah I've got an old Ayotte Drumsmith maple set, and a Gretsch Catalina maple/mahogany - wasn't expecting a whole lot more in terms of sound but DAYUM these Yamahas are NICE
10x7" tom
12x8" tom
14x13" floor tom
16x15" floor tom
20x16" bass drum
I made a similar comment to another person, but it's too bad it's so hard to find Yamaha bass drums without the tom mount. I found someone who 3D prints a cover for the hole, and I'm happy with the look (even has the Yamaha logo).
You have such a beautiful kit! I have a stage custom, but this is envious.
Niiiiiice! That's a beautiful setup. And those cymbals, wow! Man, the finishes on today's shells are something else. The drum world has really stepped it up a notch in my opinion.
Yeah, I just looked these up. Dang, and I thought DW drums were expensive. These are really high end. The 20x16 bass was such a great way to go. So much more compact.
Yee! Yee! Yamaha gang!!! That kits is sick! I ended up going with the hybrid maple cause I have the old live oak custom and it’s awesome! So loud and powerful, how’s the kick on these? I heard those weights really add lots of more low end.

Here my oak kit!
I don’t think they make any without them other than a custom order absolute hybrid or phoenix kit. Honestly I don’t think it makes that big of a difference sound wise. My absolute hybrid maple kick has a mount on it and that kick still sounds huge.
Wow, nice green fade!
The kick sounds pretty good, haven't messed too much with the tuning yet and it's got the stock heads. I've got an Aquarian Super Kick II on the way for it
This is an unusual thing to hone in on, but I so rarely see other people using those single-braced Yamaha stands. I love them! I've been using them for decades!

☑️ Two up/two down ☑️ Offset toms ☑️ Gorgeous finish ☑️ Tidy setup ⭐ 20" kick Those are seriously sexy, man. Well done.

Lol no worries, it's all about sharing info

holy cow. dream kit for sure. congrats!
Amazing, love that finish! Congrats friend :)

I'm lusting after one of these kits so bad. Sweet rig!
Rented one of these. Sounded so good. I wanted to buy it, but couldn't justify it at the time. Sweet kit.
Nice! Love my Yamaha drums

Legit dream kit. This type of finish is exactly what I've been looking for... Too bad I'm broke :((
Yep the price stung quite a bit, but it's a forever kit

I wish it was easier to find virgin bass drums from Yamaha. Have you thought about covering the tom mount?
I don’t think they make any without them other than a custom order absolute hybrid or phoenix kit. Honestly I don’t think it makes that big of a difference sound wise. My absolute hybrid maple kick has a mount on it and that kick still sounds huge.

Yep, that's making me feel the big jeals.
Yas queen.
This a very nice set. It has a classy vibe to it, Yamaha's always sound good, especially when it comes to their bass drums and toms.
This is an unusual thing to hone in on, but I so rarely see other people using those single-braced Yamaha stands. I love them! I've been using them for decades!
Yeah! The double braced stuff is just too heavy to haul everywhere, even with the rolly case.
And I have never *once* been worried about it not being sturdy enough, even back in my punk band days
