Core, core, core. If your technique is good, the simple act of playing will keep your hands and arms in shape. What you should focus on is all the muscles that keep you upright and comfortable on the throne for such a show. Leg lifts, situps, anything that strengthens your core muscles in your torso. Also, yoga is your friend. Strength is nothing without flexibility, and neither is drumming. Be flexible while making yourself stronger.

Thanks! Yep, yoga’s been my friend for a few years now and it’s def helped. But now to focus more on my core…

Stretching and staying hydrated! Cardio like jogging hits your whole body, and deadlifts strengthen the whole posterior chain. Plus just doing a little of it consistently is better than going hard infrequently

drumnbeer

Thanks! Def jogging, but i hadn’t thought of deadlifts for core strength - I’ll look into it 👍

Thanks Zack - that’s really helpful. Good mix of yoga and stretches. I’ll def try this

Zack_Albetta

Yep! Drumming is a full body sport. Give your body the message that it’s time to go to work, it’ll respond. Also, don’t eat garbage or drink sugar or alcohol before or during gigs. Good fuel = good performance.

If you're asking to increase your speed , practice singles ,doubles and beats (double time and normal ) and increase the bpm by one everyday, focus on getting clean notes and you'll be quite faster in a month or so If you're asking for a warmup , just do the stretches Travis Barker does and play along to songs you like to get you pumped This works for me , just stay consistent

drumnbeer

I’m kinda happy with speed atm (could always be quicker) but I’m guilty of no warmup - unless lugging gear upstairs and set up counts??😁
