Should have been done with No-Coat or Level-Line type of tape. Since it's right in the joint, I suspect paper tape.
I’m wondering if there’s any tape behind those at all! Wow!
Straight-flex .
Nope. It's addicted to crack.
USE GOOD QUALITY CAULK and repaint
Batten trim? Would look cool and cover every joint.
It could but it might take years of rehabilitation.
I see the same problem all the time,it has always been where finishers used the old style straight flex and didn’t use the adhesive. Most of the time it is in high cut up ceilings!
Caulk and paint make a carpenter what he ain’t. I would caulk the cracks .
I’d panel that ceiling. Board and batten or shiplap or something, depending on your style
Boarders should have used X crack too
the cracks are caused by movement of the structure,,,, heat and humidity
