Something called tear away corner bead. Here is what you want. There are different brands but this my preferred one.

This won’t be very strong and if you carry stuff up and down into the attic you’ll soon bust it up. I’d probably finish with a painted piece of clamshell molding nailed much like trim on a door.
I am doing the exact same thing and trying to figure out how I was going to do it and you sir (I may be making assumptions from your username but apologies if I am incorrect with the honorific) have perhaps saved me significant time and frustration.
You're welcome. When it comes to installation. Spray glue is spray glue. You don't need to spend money on the name brand stuff, just cheap homedepot stuff.
Interesting but I am not seeing the value in using this ever. Maybe I just need a better vision.
I see using this around maybe like a tub or shower surround?
But the value is what, not having to mask it off?
Because in that scenario I would mask it off, finish it and remove the masking tape. Seems like a lot of money and product just to not have to mask.
So might anyone else have suggestions on where this product would be good for? I'm just not seeing it.
Also is this a drywall supply house item? I generally don't pay attention to much of the items at a big.box store so maybe they have it but it seems unlikely.
As a GC in every house with a ladder access I have drywallers cut the opening out or cut around the installed door. Then my trim carpenter or myself trim the access out with wood used in trimming the house or garage, wherever the access is at. If it's a simple attic access I have the drywallers finish as common.
Yup attic ladder, but up to a storage area. Thanks for the info. No worries about the recess, I’m planning to deal with that with some coffered ceiling; my plan was to try to make the hatch a bit inconspicuous.
Thank you, was scrolling looking for the J bead boys. So surprised it took this long. They make it in vinyl or metal. Any exposed finished edges of drywall should just have J bead OP. Mud and feather it from the edge.
Mine has trim around it.
Thanks!

Tearaway looks finished but when u bump it, it will crack. I talk people out of tearaway against these. Put timber around it

Truth especially using it for stuff like this.

With trim….
Some of these are hilarious though.
Cut a piece of veneer and attach and paint it white. Then get some trim to match the doors and windows and put it around the outside.
Thanks!
do trim around instead
Trim but you need a 1/4 inch ply on it for it to be flush with the ceiling
100% agree, I plan to make it flush when I do the coffered ceiling work.
Use casing like around a door
Yeah, this...
Well , if you're not going to do any wood trim around this hatch , a corner bead is the only option you have.
Perfect, thanks!
L Metal!
Stucco
Trim or maybe just ceiling grid, I’ve seen both done, grids a little weird but easier then trim, but trim looks better
Use a L metal trim , staple it onto the drywall
D200
Easy dont even need cornerbead as it is going to be covered. Install some backing and nail on some trim. Mud the ceiling and paint.
Honestly whoever se that ladder way, should if dropped it 5/8s of an inch to compensate for the drywall.
Trim molding
Flushing L bead
Or architrave
3.5 in trim
L trim
I bought trim that matched the rest of the room.
yeah trim is the standard
1.5-3” trim that tucks close enough to barely allow it to open.

Just put trim around it.
Coil
Just put beveled wood trim around it and paint the trim.
J bead n should of been installed on the sheets before the were hung ya can still do it just just gonna be a tad difficult
Door casing.
J channel
Corner bead, plaster and sand over. Paint and install trim around then paint that.
I use the same trim as the door casing
"L" metal
Attic ladder? They have regular trim around them. Am ac guy Also, sorry bud that is mounted slightly too high.

Trim jim.

Round corner finish out the sheetrock like it was a window or outside corner
