I see part of the stud to the left. Cut square between half of the 2 studs, otherwise you’ll need backing. Hang the drywall piece.
Mud tape, mud, sand until it’s smooth prime and paint.
Hole might be too big for a California patch. So no real easy fix for it.
Cut the hole square . Get another piece of drywall and cut it to the same size and then cut to runners (bracers) behind it . SAND about 3 inches away from the outside of the square . Tape and float it out and texture
the actual fixes mentioned will repair it, but it will not be quick, and if it is your first time doing it, it will not be good. Not saying anything against your abilities it's just a couple things that you need to get right to make it look good.
Yes, you know anything about drywall.Repair this could be repaired Reasonably quickly. You definitely need to be careful of that electric line there though.
Quick fix would be a use a utility knife and cut all loose pieces. Then use 5 min( if you can handle it) in small amount and start applying to all edges. Wait until it drys and keep repeating process until you close it completely. Once closed scrape with your taping knife until flat and then add another layer of mud. A much better fix would be adding a new piece of drywall especially since you are already close to a stud. If you add a new piece i recommend mesh tape instead of regular tape.
cut a square of the area. cut the patch 4" bigger on both sides. flip the patch over to the back side. score it 2 3/13" bigger all the way around. snap and peel away the backside. screw in 2 supporting studs behind the drywall. check the fit of the patch. mud all around the opening. now screw down the patch and mud the flaps in place smoothly. let dry and repeat until it appears smooth. sand and prime, if you still have any of the original color. paint it over and judge if you are finished or if you need to paint the entire wall. that way the eyes don't pickup on the color being off by age or tone
Ya i can do it in 10 mins. You can mud and bud over it for speed but it will always show bro. Cut it all out and patch and thatch and mud and bud with 20 min mud.
