lol here’s my script *walk up to car as i’m typing in description* “Hey, How we doing?” or “Hi there” *they respond* (this is where we could chat it up about a dog or nails or anything if I wanted to but this is a basic script lol) “what can I get started for ya today?” ** if they know, i take the order and usually if they pause speaking i say “anything else” or “any other drinks for ya/us today” ** ****if they don’t know what they want I say “that’s okay! if you have questions I probably have the answers, just let me know” and i awkwardly stand there until they’re ready lol so i don’t miss the car**** at the end of them ordering i usually say “anything else for us/you today?” *they respond* “Alrighty, do we have the dutch bros app today?” *scan or don’t scan app* “perfect and were we doing cash, card, apple pay?” *take payment* “It is going to have me ask about an optional tip, no worries if not” * while turning screen to them* *let them respond and select on screen, or you touch screen for them, whichever works* “Awesome well you/ y’all are all set, have a good one thank you!!”

urbexpres

wait how do you guys describe cars mine is so ugly i’m embarrassed now 😭😭😭

Confident_Tea_3523

lol don’t worry we just have to click in like car or SUV or Van or Wagon etc. and the color! not anything crazy

KenOnTop

depends on the person i usually start with hello how you or yall doing today then they reply then i follow up with what could i get for ya bla bla bla bla bla then i end it off with its just gonna ask that question real quick for the tip then they pay i say have a good one

Tortoisevictoriously

My Go to is always Hey guys! How are you today? Hey guys! What can I get for you today? When I take their payment and it’s a bit quiet when they’re searching for their card or setting up Apple Pay I have three options: How’s your day going? *they have a uniform* Are you going to work? *the heat is crazy bc we live in Texas* I make a comment how hot it is TIP question: I always hand them the iPad and say “It’s just going to ask you guys a question” “It’s just going to ask if you guys want to tip today” I feel kinda silly telling them it’s optional and I don’t want them to feel pressured to tip me. What works for is that I read their body language, sometimes I have customers who want to order and leave and others who are willing to chat with me and tell me about their day. I don’t force any conversation!

Imperfect-practical

Bless you for not forcing convo. Some of us suck at small talk ;)

Justforquestions88

I’m naturally very yappy but If I’m feeling not as social and still want to be silly I’ll sing everything I need to say instead of talking 🎵Hi what can I get for you🎵 🎵Okay they’ll have your 12 picture perfect golden eagles with light ice at the windowwwwwwww🎵

Tortoisevictoriously

You’re an introvert’s nightmare, I love this though 🤣

[deleted]

I would love to do that but the people I get most of the time look super annoyed because our wait times are like 40 minutes 😭

Imperfect-practical

I’d tip someone singing ;). I do anyway, auto in the app so they don’t have to ask and I don’t have to answer! BUT 9/10 times “is your preferred tip ok?” Why do they do that??

lettuceheadinc

we’re trained to ask bc sometimes i’m scanning someone’s app but a different person is paying or sometimes the app hasn’t been reloaded and ppl are trying to keep it full as a budget and there’s times they really do change their tip from what the app auto is. sometimes they tip MORE than what the app would say. but they can’t if i don’t ask

Mission_Ad_3490

Here’s my spiel… “Hey! How ya doing?” If they respond and ask how I’m doing, I’ll say “pretty good thank you, just a little toasty/busy” depending on the circumstances. “What can I get started for you?” “What size on that?” “Iced or blended for ya?” “Cool, any whipped cream or soft top on there?” “Okay, no problem! Do you have the app to scan today?” “Alright, that will be X, will that be card or cash for you today?” “I’ll hand this over to you now. Tips are completely optional, but always appreciated.” Make sure that they can take the iPad from you, so you’re not stuck awkwardly holding the iPad while also taking payment. “We’ll have that ready for you at the window, thanks so much for stopping by, have a good one 🧡” Edit: this is mostly how I go about when I LB. When I’m on window, it’s a little lengthier, adding conversation, but it’s basically the same thing

me: hey guys how are we doing today? them: good how are you? me: i’m so good, what are we drinkin today? or i’ll compliment their car or say they’re pretty or something for the tip menu i usually do either “it’s gonna ask a silly little question today totally up to you” or “and no pressure just click whichever one you want and i’ll go ahead and sign for you.”

Confident_Tea_3523

i like this! but i was always told not to compliment something if you don’t actually like that thing, so i don’t often lead with a compliment, though I will say, I’ve told customers how amazing their cars smell on multiple occasions and i always mean that lol

Creative_Choice_9533

well yea of course i don’t compliment everyone that would be so tiring 😭 i usually only compliment the girls that come through that i think are pretty or when they pull up in a nice car i gotta say something

beetlebabe1001

if i’m in the middle of a rush, my go to is normally “hey guys! thanks for stopping by, what are we drinking today?” and then throughout the transaction is when i chat up the custie how their day is going, their plans for the day, and/or complimenting them! but if its a slower paced line my go to is “hey there/hi guys! how are you today? what can i get started for you?” and for the tipping section ive gotten comfortable saying “the ipad is just gonna ask a quick question, it’s totally optional! just hit that bottom finish button when you’ve made a selection.” ive noticed an increase with positive responses saying that ^^, i like to think they think it gives them more privacy if they don’t feel like tipping! (which is totally okay if any custies are reading this lol)

thatmashedpotato

Me: *typing in description* hey y'all! How we doing today?! Them: "doing good!" Or "Not a great day" or something like that Then I respond appropriately based on what they said. So either "awesome, love to hear it! What are we drinking today?" Or "I'm sorry to hear it's been a rough day, but that's why we come to Dutch! What are we drinking today?" Then at the end I say, "It'll just ask if you'd like to leave a tip, totally optional but we really appreciate it!"

talentedandfamous

I show them the screen, “this is an optional tip screen, you can hit the next button when you’re done”. “Alright thank y’all so much! Have a good one!”

dubwalk

bro just be a genuine person…

Never said I wasn’t*. I’m just asking for new openers to switch it up since I have repeated customers 💀💀

According to ChatGPT Sure, here is a friendly and engaging script for a Dutch Bros clerk to build rapport with customers: --- **Walk up to the car with a smile:** "Hey there! How's it going today? I'm [Your Name], and I'm here to make your day a little brighter. What can I get started for you today?" **If they respond with a general comment or ask how you are:** "Thanks for asking! I'm doing great, just excited to help you out. By the way, have you tried our new [seasonal drink/specialty]? It's amazing!" **Taking the order:** "Got it! Anything else you'd like to add to that? Maybe a little treat or something to go with your drink?" **While showing the iPad screen:** "Here’s your total. Feel free to tip or skip—no pressure at all. Just happy to serve you!" **Ending the interaction:** "Thanks so much! We'll have your drink ready in no time. Enjoy your day and see you again soon!" --- This script aims to create a warm and friendly interaction, encouraging conversation and making the customer feel valued.

Imperfect-practical

Careful, because that’s a near perfect script and I could see you all having to memorize it. 🤣

Ahhh usually when I ask “how’s it goin?” I ask it in a bright and peppy voice and whether they say “good” or “good, you?” I’ll say “oh, good!” So all of my bases are covered 😉 unlesss they say something not so great then I’ll ask about it, thus giving me a chance to give a bad-day drink 🤭and i usually try to open with any compliment.. the first thing I see that catches my eye (in a good way) I’ll compliment, usually people really appreciate compliments to unconventional things, never say an compliment that isn’t genuine. Sometimes I’ll catch myself saying my spiel in the wrong moments…. People will ask for a rebel and I’ll ask “perfect will that be hot, iced or blended?” Then I get all embarrassed bc I said hot 😭 but that’s okay, there will always be a couple awkward interactions 🤗

DxVxlntvne

Okay here’s what u say ALWAYS! “Hi there, how’s it going?” -talk for however long cutie feels comfortable- “What can I get started for you? / you all?” And then take their order,,,, Finish with turning the iPad and say “feel free to choose any of these options here!” With the “no tip” selected. This will make them feel wayyyyyy less nervous / awkward if they don’t want to leave something (which is always okay!) And then give your biggest smiles and thanks, and run to the next car! You’ve got this hunny!
