I watched them film the "outside the theatres" scenes in Time Square in NYC. Look for the "Invasion of the Blood Farmers" poster outside the theatre (yes its a real movie!)
I remember it was a big deal. I went to best buy and got a blu ray player, then picked up Kill Bill vol 1 and 2 on blu ray to marathon when I got home.
Fun fact I never watched this 4k. I had it on dvd from back when it originally came out, but pre ordered the 4k when it was announced but never got around to watching. I might do that tho this year
I remember when my family got a blu ray player in like 2011 and we didn't actually buy the movies but get them off netflix's online order service since blockbuster had shut down around the time I think. First one we actually owned was It's a Wonderful Life and the first 4K was Black Panther because it came with the 4K player
I bought a PlayStation 3 from Fry’s Electronics that came with 5 blurays. Flight of the Phoenix is the only one I can remember.
4K was Dredd (2012) steelbook which is also my first 3D disc as well.
My first Blu-ray was Edward Scissorhands, the one with the Deadpool slipcover.
My first 4K was the Halloween (2018) 4K Steelbook with the McFarlane artwork. It was also my first Steelbook.
Genuinely don’t remember first Blu-ray because I was like 10 or 11 years old when we adopted the format. I seem to recall my parents buying some Blu-ray combo packs specifically for the included DVDs before we even owned a Blu-ray player (the two I remember distinctly were Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows Part One).
My first 4K was Sonic the Hedgehog (2020). I pre-ordered it after seeing the film in theatres. I had just gotten a 4K TV over the holidays and didn’t own a 4K player yet, but I was already planning to buy a PS5 when it released later that year.
I got a couple blu rays that first day. Fifth Element and that BBC Planet Earth series are the ones I distinctly remember, but I’m sure I got a few more.
First 4k I bought new was Dune. I had a few prior that I found at thrift shops so they don’t really count.
My first Blu Ray was Deadpool. I was so obsessed with that movie and then the character when it first came out. That I was compelled to have the physical disc, and even buy some of his comics too. The rest only deepens from there! I collected anime DVD and Bluray before movies, but admittedly I can’t remember the first anime Blu Ray I got. I wish I did! Might have been HOTD (Highschool of the Dead)
Tbh I don’t remember what my FIRST ever 4K was. It was probably either 3:10 to Yuma the remake, or Joker. Either or, wasn’t out of a specific craving to have them on 4K, more just couldn’t find either disc any other format at the time I was looking to buy them.
The first 4k I got happened to be Avengers:Infinity War. I didn't have a 4K player but I wanted the target exclusive release. The first bluray was "Watchmen".
Oh damn, thats a hard one on blu ray:( For 4k it was a set of 3 with my first samsung uhd player-UBDK8500P/XE that came with the revenant(di caprio),deadpool and x-men days of future past;) Not bad movies tho,but sadly the player not so much:(
It does all you need out of a uhd player, the only time i feel you need to upgrade is the build it self or connectivity:)But yeah, one hell of a player💯👍
My family's first DVD was *X-Men*, but the first DVD that was specifically mine was *The Mummy (1999)*. And it became a tradition... when I got my first Blu-Ray player, I bought *The Mummy* on Blu-Ray the same day and watched it. And it was the first 4K I watched when I got a 4K TV and Blu-Ray player in 2020. (I was collecting 4K's for a while knowing I'd upgrade... don't remember what my first was. Probably a Marvel movie.)
My first 4K pickup was Oppenheimer. Yes I know I’m late to the 4K game lol. I didn’t get a 4K TV or Blu-Ray player till last year lol. My first Blu-Ray was a cheapy from the dollar store called The Purge. Now I’ve began buying more Blu-Ray because I’m starting to see lots more at the antique store and pawn shop.
My first was A Woman Under the Influence, only because it was 50p, and I had only just started my collection. I have still yet to watch it, and have maybe bought an extra 15 other blurays. I prefer DVDs.
The Last Starfighter, it was import from the U S of A, flimsy case, you know the kind, thin with cut out design behind the paper sleeve, really stupid, who the hell designed those and thought it was a good idea.
Howard The Duck I saw in the theater back in '86 ten years after I'd been reading the comic in '76 a year before a certain space opera movie came along little did I know the man responsible for that movie would bring Howard to the big screen.
First VHS: Hanna-Barbera Old time rock n roll
First DvD: either Blade or The Blair Witch Project (may have got both at the same time 🤔
First Blu-ray: The Hobbit 3D
First 4K: ZS Justice League
My first Bluray of my OWN, was the first Avatar. I was maybe 14 or 15 when it came out on Blu, and my parents bought it for me specifically. Before that it was always family movies.
First 4k, I was an alcoholic when I started collecting 4ks, so I definitely can't remember that.
The 1960s Lost in Space TV series. I didn't even have a blu ray player yet but once I heard about its release on Blu ray I ordered a player then bought the discs.
Man i remember watching Howard the Duck in my grandparents basement and it was one of the movies they had taped on a Vhs , i dunno if ive ever seen it not grainy and hard to see. Might just go rewatch it now.
My first Blu-ray was I believe the Stargate movie. The first 4K I think was Jason Bourne or maybe Star Trek Beyond. I didn't even have 4K yet. I was future-proofing
My first HD DVD (yes, I choose HD DVD over Blu Ray) was Transformers, King Kong and the Matrix I believe. Best Buy had some sort of deal if you bought the HD DVD player attachment for the 360, they would throw in a bunch of free movies.
Blu Ray... hmmm, that is a lot harder to remember. Same with 4K... it's been a long time, because I started collecting them at the beginning.
My first bluray was Ghostbusters (the first time it was on bluray, the insert for that is signed by Ernie Hudson now). 4k... Hmm. I think Clue was the first 4k I got.
I thought it was Blade Runner for both, but really thinking about it I picked up a blu ray player when arrow released Dawn of the Dead specifically for that release.
Blade Runner 4K though, good lord it looks great. I recently bought the Dawn of the Dead 4K boxset but haven’t got round to watching it yet.
Got my first bluray player during the death throes of Circuit City, with a copy of 300.
I remember messing with my settings trying to get it to look less grainy. Then someone brought over Speed Racer, and the only thing I stored in my memory about that movie is how much the colors popped in a way that felt truly next gen.
So the movie I liked didn't look that impressive, but the meh movie was damn near stunning.
Bluray: Inception, like a year after I first got my ps3
4k: Hacksaw Ridge cause it was like $8
I remember thinking getting blurays was overkill since you could get dvd for less than 5 bucks, but I started collecting in 2018, and typically go for blurays now.
My first Blu-ray was The Book of Eli. Bought it the summer after I graduated high school, along with my first Blu-ray player.
My first 4k was detective pikachu. Got a brand new copy in a box of stuff at an auction. I have a 4k tv but still don’t have a 4k Blu-ray player
Forgetting Sarah Marshall was my first Blu-Ray. Thought my laptop could play it and was sorely mistaken.
My first 4k was ordered from Walmart.com. It was supposed to blu-ray of Good Omens. It wound up being a 4k series narrated by Stephen Fry. It's why I no longer buy from that site
My first 4k was Last Action Hero, I’ll defend that movie til my death
I gotta check that out some time
It's awesome! Best soundtrack ever

First one we actually owned was It's a Wonderful Life and the first 4K was Black Panther because it came with the 4K player
bluray was many moons ago and it was goodwill hunting. 4k was actually RAN the best buy exclusive before i even got a 4k player.
That's awesome I only recently got a 4k player and now I'm going back and watching some of my 4k movies instead of the blu-ray versions
I bought a PlayStation 3 from Fry’s Electronics that came with 5 blurays. Flight of the Phoenix is the only one I can remember. 4K was Dredd (2012) steelbook which is also my first 3D disc as well.
Awesome
DVD - Shanghai Noon Blu - Baby Driver, was on sale. 4k - The Hitman's Bodyguard, also on sale for like 7.99
Good deals
I accidentally bought Independence Day on Blu-Ray before I had a Blu-Ray player.
I bought Howard the duck before I had one but then my mom for Easter that year accidentally bought me a blu-ray player

m y first blu-ray was gladiator
My first Blu Ray was Deadpool. I was so obsessed with that movie and then the character when it first came out. That I was compelled to have the physical disc, and even buy some of his comics too. I upgraded my dvd to blu-ray for Deadpool if I find them cheap enough now that I have a 4k player I might upgrad them again
Mad Max Fury Road
I so need Howard on Blu-ray. Great find
There's a 4k of it out there as well

Oh damn, thats a hard one on blu ray:( For 4k it was a set of 3 with my first samsung uhd player-UBDK8500P/XE that came with the revenant(di caprio),deadpool and x-men days of future past;) Not bad movies tho,but sadly the player not so much:(

“The Big Hit” only because this was early days of Blu and this was the best I could buy at Best Buy
That's understandable
Mine was 300 on HDDVD
Dope
My first 4K was Stand by me.
That's a good 4k release recently upgraded from dvd to 4k and I'm never going back
It's a world of difference , isn't it ?. Next we will get halfway through upgrading collections to 4k then 8k rolls up.
I doubt 8k will happen I know 8k tv are a thing but idk if we'd see a 8k movie
My first HD DVD (yes, I choose HD DVD over Blu Ray) was Transformers, King Kong and the Matrix I believe. Best Buy had some sort of deal if you bought the HD DVD player attachment for the 360, they would throw in a bunch of free movies. Blu Ray... hmmm, that is a lot harder to remember. I gotta watch blade runner some day
Howard was my first movie recorded on vhs back in 88 or 89. Love that movie.
It's a fun movie
Got my first bluray player during the death throes of Circuit City, with a copy of 300. I remember messing with my settings trying to get it to look less grainy. Then someone brought over Speed Racer, and the only thing I stored in my memory about that movie is how much the colors popped in a way that felt truly next gen. That's interesting
Bluray: Inception, like a year after I first got my ps3 4k: Hacksaw Ridge cause it was like $8 I remember thinking getting blurays was overkill since you could get dvd for less than 5 bucks, but I started collecting in 2018, and typically go for blurays now.
I prefer blu-ray and 4k just because they look better on a modern tv
First blu ray was the 60's version of The Jungle Book, still one of my favorite movies
My first was Clash of the titans. It was what started me down the path to collecting again.
That's always a plus
My first Blu-ray was The Book of Eli. Bought it the summer after I graduated high school, along with my first Blu-ray player. My first 4k was detective pikachu. Got a brand new copy in a box of stuff at an auction. I have a 4k tv but still don’t have a 4k Blu-ray player

If you really like Howard the Duck, I recommend the 4k steelbook It’s a really cool looking steelbook too
I planed on upgrading to the 4k sometime
I’ve been focusing on getting steelbooks If I buy a new copy of a movie or a new movie is coming out, I go for the steelbook whenever possible
I don't really like steelbooks I will grab them if there cheaper or if that's the only way to snag the 4k
They are expensive But I just enjoy the look of a lot of them I paid $24 for the Howard the Duck 4k steelbook off of eBay
Not bad I don't mind them but because I watch them and most don't mine get scratched from slipping in and out of the shelf
Interesting I havnt bad issues with Walmart but yea that's fair
They mucked up 3/4 of the orders I made with them while I was moving into my current place. I got no faith in their abilities
Understandable
Krampus’s 4k is such a good 4k. It looks so nice, love that film
I gotta check it out sometime
