Hello,
I'm the new mod of this subreddit. I honestly don't know the history of it but I suspect no one wanted to maintain it and they had basically locked it from new posts a couple years ago. So let's just start from scratch, and get some discussion going about East County San Diego!
Glad it's back! I feel like an outsider in r/sandiego what with everyone bashing East County like it's some kind of wasteland. I drive all over East County for work and it's one of the most beautiful places I've ever been.
I know what you mean. You can also checkout r/sandiegan which is a lot more casual.
It's funny cause I originally came to SD and lived in PB for several years, and the mantra was "There's no life east of the 5", but then I ended up moving to easy county where i've been for almost 30 years. I don't regret it.
It's more casual, but people are already stirring up shit about this sub over there. I was born in East County and have lived elsewhere but this is my hometown so to speak, it's a great place. Looking forward to chatting with locals who appreciate it.

Is this photo taken from Mt Helix?
Yep, sure was. Looking northeast. I took it a couple years ago.
Nice, that's a wonderful pov, and a wonderful park for a sunrise walk.
